This is a first time I'm writing a review. I have to share this because I wouldn't want anyone to fall into Grolier Malaysia's trap. The entire experience with Grolier Malaysia is just so bad until I have to let everyone knows what I have gone through with Grolier Malaysia.

I was in a baby fair when I came across a booth that is selling children educational books and the name of the company is Grolier. The grolier seller is really smart as she asked me a lot of questions and get to know that I'm a new mom who have not done any survey about child education and development. And so she lure me into buying 5 different grolier materials such as teach my baby, talking english, I wonder why, logico primo and disney english. She said many moms starts to educate their child at a really young age like my baby 5 months old.

And after I received the grolier books. I noticed that the quality of the teach my baby material is so bad. The image in the flashcards and the learning cube is not high-res and it makes the image looks blur. The edge of the mirror on the learning cube is sharp and definitely is dangerous to a baby or a toddler to play with! With the price I paid, I expect a much much better quality!

You must be wondering why I didn't check properly before I made a purchase? When I try to recall back the grolier's selling tactics, the grolier sellers are smart or in another way, cunning. The way they presented the grolier materials to me were so fast and that was how she kept me distracted with the quality and stay on her agenda. she didn't show me the full items of the products in the package and she kept the items back right after the demonstration. Then she starting to quote me the price of the package of 5 items. The grolier seller didn't inform me how much does each material cost. She said it will be much cheaper if I buy it as a package. She showed me the receipts of other clients's purchases to further convinced me. I spent a total of 3k for the whole package. She throws in other 5 FOC stuff which she didn't show me all of the items either.

Why am I feeling so pissed off? Because first of all, I felt that she shouldn't have sell me products which I can only use it 3 years later! And she gave me false information that I can use it for my 5 months old baby! I probably should blame it on my own stupidity but I do think the grolier seller could be more genuine to me and explain that it will be more appropriate for me to get the items when my baby is old enough to understand.

I asked for a refund by sending an email to grolier malaysia. No response the day after. And then I make a call and the grolier person said has to refer to management about the refund and will get back to me within a week but she didn't call me back. And then I received a reply from grolier asia that they will investigate the issue and then no reply at all after I have sent in 3 emails to follow up. I then called back to asked to speak to the person in charge and it was the sales manager. I must say that Grolier has a bunch of really good sellers. As he make it as if my fault because at the end it was my own decision to make the purchase. He did not allow me to talk and he talks louder and louder. He then argued with me. He interrupted me when I was talking. He offered an exchange which I don’t want to because If you visited their website, they do not have much materials which I have bought most of it. He basically didn't care about after sales service. All he cares is he already gotten this sales and so what if I didn't return? I have never came across such nasty sales person before and if it wasn't him, I would purchase more products in the future. Such bad reputation he had created for the company.

So this is not about the amount I spent. Is about the service and experience that grolier malaysia has given to me that make me feel that is not worth to spend the money with Grolier. In this review, I did not mentioned anything about the effectiveness of the grolier products as I have not use and I have no stand to comment but the service that they have given will definitely not worth for me to spend with Grolier.

Dear mommies out there, just be careful when you want to explore grolier books. Again is not about the product, is about the people being not genuine when selling the products to you. Buy the things that you think you can use it now and don't let them lure you into buying so much and ended up like me. Now that I have become wiser after this incident and done some survey out there, I personally thinks that grolier education materials is way too expensive. There are definitely more alternatives out there.

My experience is almost similar to you. A saleswoman came and started giving my child attention by showing a colourful "educational kit" to her. It looked informative, so I asked her about the cost. She didn't answer me. She said I had to be trained first to make sure I know what I'm doing before buying the products. Again I asked her how much the kit was. She refused to tell me, pretending she didn't hear what I was saying. I also asked her to show me the complete set so that I could have a look, but she completely ignored me. This is where I got suspicious. She knew if she had told me the massive price straight away I would have walked away, so what she did she tried to make me believe that my child needed her products to improve her thinking skills.

Glad I didn't give her further attention. Glad she didn't get my money. But I'm going to be super wary next time!

To those parents out there, especially mothers with kids, PLEASE don't entertain these Grolier people. Walk away from them. I have a feeling that I met the same saleswoman that conned you. About 40-something years old, smiles all the time. Hair tied back. They also have other salespeople; a transvestite & a woman who wears bright-coloured veil (at Jaya Jusco AU Keramat)

Saya pn dah kena tadi kat pesta buku kelantan.pandai salesman\girl tarik anak main kad tu dtg approach sy n ank lpastu tarik ke meja. Sy ingatkan 500 ni sampai ribuan memang tak mampu nak beli. Tapi kurang ajar btul la pkerja grolier td, memaksa orang suh beli.. Jenis xreti bahasa agaknya dah org ckap xmau xmau la. Xyah beli la benda tu kalau kita tak rajin nak duduk dgan anak. Pandai la diorang kelentong anak boleh blaja sendiri benda tu.
Nasib baik bkeras xnak beli walaupun suami stuju dan ppuan tu xpuas hati bila saya cakap xnak beli tapi memang mental betul pekerja grolier ppuan yg jaga kat pesta buku balai islam lundang harini...

I don't have any bad experience with Grolier but yes it a good thing that you shared this out to make people aware of how to buy this product. I know Grolier have great products and some people love to use them but other's just don't feel the need especially now that almost everything can be found on the internet.

Funny I found this thread in Lowyat...

Anyone who has direct contact to Grolier Malaysia other than their primary numbers? I want to escalate my issue with their higher ups. Their website and Facebook page is also not replying back to my messages.

I do not want to talk to their sales representative anymore as he is feeding me BS.

I purchased their Grolier Package last November 4. Up to now they did not deliver it.

They gave so many excuses like the flood, no stock, driver on MC, representative on MC, etc., etc.

Now I have demanded refund for my down payment and my sales rep now wants my bank account number.

I will never give this! He already has too much information on me, my identification, phone numbers, home address...

I told him to send it via post but he always says need bank account then says yes to post... all the time... but no refund yet.

So I have either been DUPED OR GROLIER IS NOW A BS COMPANY as what I have been reading here.

Too bad, I have grown up with Grolier books and I want my kid to grow up with them. Now I have a headache on how to get back my down payment.

Any advice is appreciated.

Probably the best is provide an alternative where we can direct people away.

Any suggestion where anyone gets a good product?

Omg I just attend the Grolier sales today... The event was posted at my kid's school WhatsApp group..it didn't specifically mentioned it was Grolier...the teacher also not aware...so I bring my kid to attend and only found out it was Grolier...salesman hard selling me their books..after doing their demo, the salesman wants my confirmation on the spot and pay upfront of rm400 upon confirmed..they will send 20 books include the talking pen..I told them let me think about it first but salesman keep pushing and insisting I need to confirm it already.he also showed me pics of other parents buying the books for their kids....(just pics of parents and kids reading the books) doesn't mean they bought it...
I felt repulsed by the salesmen hard selling aggressive tactics..so I confirmed with him on the spot by rejecting his offer and left.
