I read title and i thought he meant left the car running idle for a week....shocking.gif...LOL.

TS meant not used, obviously. No problem lar one week, two weeks also ok. Not a month or more.

If there's no equipment consuming the battery, should last long.

Alarm is one. But some ICE installer just perma fix your amp/head unit with direct power. So batter just die faster - less than a week.

Normally 2 weeks also no issue. But not more than a month. Can damage the battery.

oh ok thanks all for response… so at most the only thing that will spoil is the battery? Not the engine or anything? Cost at most of the time I will only drive my car during weekend and I wont touch it during weekday.

I was actually afraid that the engine pipe will solidify and will block or something just like the human heart where if you dont excercise frequently tgt with frequent consumption of fatty stuff will make the arteries block and die eventually.

Thanks guys for the reply. Tried to search online verywhere for what i needed to know but to no avail.

Another thing is the disc brake might become orange color. Nothing wrong with it.

The more worrying things is maybe snake or cat sleeping in your engine or some special hidden corner, might turn to minced meat when starting engine... or shock you.

haha... that's a good one...

i heard of cases where the cat was just sleeping on the car and causes scratches all over the place... worst was rats biting into vacuum hoses and causing idling issues after that...

so, mince meat might not be the worst case scenario....you'll just get barbeque smell after that...

if you leave it for like long durations, 6 months and above without even bringing your car to service... that, on the other hand might not be the best for seals on the motor...

else, it's mostly a case of maintaining battery levels.. as long as you drive it enough during the weekends... it shouldn't be a problem...

Although you might find your exhaust pipe bocor due to the sulphur deposits absorbing moisture.

ooo thats alot of valuable input from the experts here...conclusion is that a car can be left untouched for 2 weeks maximum and the highest risk of damage is direct towards your battery...

yup, not damage but battery drain. once the battery is used (from new) even once, it will start draining whether u start your car or not. after a month or so without starting the car to charge it, it will be low on battery and u might not be able to use it to start your car, so if possible, start your car at least once a week to let it warm up to charge the battery, it's better to let it charge for 15 minutes or more because starting the car will use a fair amount of power.

if u use maintenance free battery u will need to charge for even longer, because it won't hold as much power as wet battery and it charges more slowly than wet battery.

Well , experience told me that "must" run the car within 2-3 days interval even-though you not really used it , to let the battery and those engine oil keep running smooth .

I got a honda stream 05 last time kena engine kong because of the engine lubricant viscosity fail and my wife didnt notice out , the main reason is we rarely use the car and let it standby mode week by week doh.gif

Remember what the manufacturer maintenance schedule...
3 months or 5000 km for oil change....

So even if you don't drive... u still suppose to follow the time based maintenance,
especially true for rarely driver car.

Instead of 3 months, you can probably do like 6 months for every oil change if you rarely use.

if u want leave your car idled for a week, makesure that u should not arm the alarm. or, the battery power will be consumed to 9v or below. you have to recharge it b4 u can start the engine.

btw, higher spec battery can suppport longer idle periods.
