Wow! The trick really worked!

Just to be careful, save your game after defeating all trainers on the bridge only.

Catch MEW in Cerulean City

There is other way to catch mew, and there are more glitches to try - in yellow.

I think the glitch applied to all.. from my reading, the main situation we have to do is:

1. open menu while trying to evade fighting from any chosen trainer facing down to him (Press down, and quickly press Start), then fly/teleport to pokemon center
2. fight the trainer with slowpoke in Cerulean City, across nugget bridge (Let him see you walking to you)
3. fly back to the route entrance in no. 1, and re-enter the route back.
