Hi, i just discovered my useless Asus P4pv-mx mobo doesn't support overclocking mad.gif i'm thinking of getting a new mobo. please recommend me one that won't cost too much, and will be able to overclock a 2.4 Prescott up to >3.0ghz smile.gif i don't plan to spend much on a new mobo coz i will get a new C2D rig soon biggrin.gif a second hand board is alrite...as long as it is in good working condition.

But i would prefer if there is some sort of firmware or BIOS update that i can flash to my existing mobo to enable some overclocking thumbup.gif and i heard that there are some software to oc from windows...can these work with my current mobo? please suggest some of them...thanks.

Wow...can reach 3.6...what cooling do you use? and how much does the ai-7 cost?

anyway, my C2D will be here soon biggrin.gif ...but i'll still want to get some experience by overclocking this p4 before trying it on my C2D tongue.gif

i dun quite get what u meant there...there's no option in my BIOS to lock the agp/pci ratio..it means that whenever i increase the fsb the agp/pci will oso increase n later cause my pc to crash

it means when u increase the fsb, the agi/pci will increase 2gether. So, u need to reset the agi/pci value to the default value which is 66.66/33.33 after u increase the fsb. Do u get what i mean?

But I not sure weather ur mobo got this function or not. My mobo cant lock the agi/pci as well but I can reset it to the initial value, 66.66/33.33.
