Ninja Theory is defined by three things: ninja-class melee gameplay, strong character stories and a unique art vision.
On Hellblade, we will double down on what we do best to give you a deeper character in a twisted world with brutal, uncompromising, combat.
We are embracing the creative spirit that comes with independence without letting go of the stunning production values that we are known for. It’s not indie, it’s not AAA. This is a third way. its independent AAA.
It’s about making a more focused game experience that isn’t trying to be all things to all people but satisfies a particular gaming itch. It’s about being in command of our creativity so that we can give you what you want from us at a lower price.
It’s very early days in the project but we are opening our doors and inviting you to join us every step of the way. We want to show you how we make this game warts and all so that you can be part of this journey.
The game is dedicated to our fans and supporters.

Ninja Theory, they have sour relationship with all publisher they worked with. So they went indie this time, can't wait to see what topic they will stir up this time around.
Hellblade, the upcoming PlayStation 4 and PC game from DmC Devil May Cry and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West developer Ninja Theory, will be officially titled Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, the developer announced.
Ninja Theory also debuted a new visual for the game (above pic) and teased that it will be sharing more information about the game later this week.
Game has its cliche issues but I'll say the best thing this game has to offer is sound design and pure audiogasm.
Game uses binaural recording for the sound effects and voices, so don't do yourself a huge disservice by not playing it with headphones.
Best way to enjoy this game's exceptional sound design (which btw actually ties into gameplay) is to get an external DAC that accepts optical in, connect it to the PS4 and let it pass through all audio to the external device. Amp that signal to your headphones.
I can count with 2 hands how many games that truly uses binaural recording. Damn glad Ninja Theory saw this wide open market and went with it even if the masses don't know what they are missing by playing with TV speakers.

truly agree. playing this game on headphone vs speaker is really a HUGE different.
Finished it in 5 hours 28 minutes. If it wasn't for 2 puzzles that I got stuck at, would probably be closer to 5 hours only. So... really depends if you'll be stuck on the puzzles or not.
The fight sequences in this game is pretty scarce too btw. Most of the game is walking from point A to point B, listening to the story, deal with a puzzle, fight some peons, fight a boss, repeat. I'm simply giving this game a pass because of its excellent sound design, probably best this year if Uncharted Lost Legacy doesn't beat it.
I'm not too keen on female protagonist... just cant identify with them... lacking immersion..
I found it decent. Some parts of the story didn't jive well with me. Some parts of it is unsettling, which is the whole goal of the game and they succeed in doing that.
The thing that made me most annoyed is the puzzles, not because they are hard or confusing... no not at all, but because the puzzles requires inch-perfect positioning that the game doesn't even hint to you about. Just because I'm 2 steps away from an initiation piece, the puzzle doesn't solve itself and says I fail. Just because the camera is not aligned inch-perfect, then the puzzle isn't solved? Just because I have all the pieces but I don't have them in the correct order, the puzzle fails... wtf?
Really can cause a headache with all the voices blabbering shit about how "stupid" you are when in fact the game is the one being stupid in the first place.
I don't think it's a game for everyone to be honest. Go into it with an open mind.

To me it's really annoying. I can't fight them back to keep them quiet... I rather have a smart jarvis...

It's on weekly sale now at RM89.60 with PS+. I don't have that good of audio setup just the typical Sony headphone but I must say I can only play it in short sessions as it is too intense. I tried to vary my attacks with parries and counters and set the difficulty to hard instead of auto to make the combat more enjoyable.
But that's not the point of this game isn't it? The psychosis potrayed so far are well done and coming from a family with such histories I can relate tbh.
