Well, to put things into perspective: after he learnt that Barca didn't need him anymore, there are Juventus, Milan, Inter, Roma, Napoli, Atletico, Dortmund etc who COULD use his service. A player of his quality should have plenty admirers besides Mourinho, so why Chelsea? Because there were no other suitors? I doubt that. When he signed the contract, it was still early in the transfer window. Still got plenty of times to wait for those top European clubs to chase him.
So, my conclusion is (/equip Flame Shield) because Chelsea offered him a big fat paycheck, and it's too good to refuse, plus he could have a sh!tty World Cup (and he did, as the rest of the Spain team) and still managed to secure a good contract, and so he said "lol f*ck Arsenal I'll go to your direct rival instead". And then sugarcoat it with those "Arsenal don't want me boo hoo" to negate the potential backlash.
Seriously guys, move on

Club Potential,
Who has the money,
which top tier players would really want to head to the Italian league these days? it has degraded tremendously, even their top players there are heading out
that removes the likes of Juventus,Milan,Inter,Roma,Napoli,
Next.... these clubs don't really have the money to bid 30m-40m for a top player without unloading a couple of theirs, they are not in the best of financial situation these days
if you look at Italian club transfers over the years, they have really only sign B- B+ players quality to their squad
Atletico Madrid seriously?......Barce to Atl Madrid..direct rivals not to mention it is a downgrade
Dortmund, doubt he would want to head there.....2nd best behind Bayern, with Dortmund also having their top players leaving 1by1
Chelsea on the other hand,
-has the money to buy him let alone offer him big pay cheque
-has great winning potential, great squad
-and Cesc has BPL experience
i already knew that if we are not signing him, it was either United or Chelsea with the follow ups, really its just pure common sense.
but yeh, lets move on...
we have Ozil and lets hope he will make Gunners proud this season!
