Why?the battery not ready available?
*
Camera's from that era tend to use mercury batteries. Due to toxic mercury they're now banned/discontinued.

Got 2 choices:-

1) Try to use WeinCell battery http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/wein-epx-625.htm.
It's a direct replacement with correct voltage, not easy to find locally.

user posted image

2) Found a guide online using 675ZA batteries and get those to fit the Olympus.

http://www.35mmc.com/12/01/2014/adapting-a...25-replacement/

Olympus 35RC doesn't appear to have circuitry to compensate for higher voltage modern batteries. (hopefully someone can correct me)
Light meter reading might be few stops higher. You'll have to manually adjust F stops to compensate.

=============================================

Have similar problem with my Pentax Spotmatic SP. Also uses 1.35v mercury battery.

Thankfully Spotmatics have a bridge rectifier so possible to use modern 387S 1.55v batteries.

Higher voltage doesn't effect metering and the 387S battery comes with a rubber gasket to fit the battery compartment.

Thnx for the explanation!!!Anyway the battery only meant to power the light meter right? Can still rely on separate light meter to take a picture.
*
Yup if you've got light meter handy that would be perfect.... thumbup.gif

Good luck with your endeavors!

BTW sharing something that might be interesting for film shooters.

A daylight development tank like a Peterson tank minus the darkroom. It's called Lab-Box and details are on KickStarter.

My experience is that sometimes loading film don't go as planned especially 120 film. The film can jump off the rails. So you still need a changing bag to open the "box". Once you buy the changing bag, then having  the "box" is moot. Also the orange lid is like simply put on. If accidently "ter"open the lid, cry liow.  cry.gif

p/s - 120 film is taped to the backing paper. How do you seperate them using the "box"? Just turn the knob thingy hard?
*
According to Lab-Box FAQ to remove the backing paper.
120 Loading System: while you pull the backing paper out through the split, the film is automatically wound in the lower lightproof slot.

Have a Fujifilm darkroom box and Peterson tank setup at home. There's no replacement bag, it's starting to tear here and there due to old age.

Gone ahead and backed the project will write a review if it arrives. Hopefully the lid's secure and wont accidentally open.

Yeah using a changing bag would be much cheaper. Think this product cater to casual/someone new to developing or perhaps hipster brows.gif .

Spooling film into reel and loading the developer tank. All done with touch and feel needs practice and guidance.
I accidentally cut the bag once with scissors doh.gif lucky didn't cut finger.

The idea and concept looks good, but on kickstarter, not sure how long before it will deliver rclxub.gif

Delays is part and parcel of KickStarter project, sometimes project outright fail. Risk all backers must accept.

Off topic this is the 3rd or 4th Kickstarter project I've backed.
Backed a project on Indiegogo that totally ran away with backers money dry.gif just google "smARtMAKER scam"

Don't really know of any SX-70 users. Referring to original SX-70 or Mint SX-70 they're the same thing except mint cameras are refurbished like new smile.gif

Hi guys, I just like to check with if it's ok to open the camera in a completely dark room, so i can rewind it back into the film roll. or is it ok to just unload the film in a very dark room and then put it inside plastic container and then completely cover it to avoid exposure? The reason I wanna do this is because I got the LOMO Konstruktor and the film advance is jammed. and I have only used 4 frames from the 36 and I wanna check on the film advance mechanism. Thanks!
*
To be safe bring the camera to your film lab. Most have light proof bag to unload film safely.

Once the roll is recovered wind it back take a few shots with lens cap on and continue shooting tongue.gif

Hi guys, does anyone here know where to get new or even second hand photo enlarger in Malaysia? I am looking for one preferably able to take 6x6 MF film.
*
Searching for an enlarger as well on FB, Mudah, Lelong, LYN etc. Sadly enlarger's are quite rare in Malaysia market.

Wanted compact 35mm enlarger, darkroom space is under a staircase. 2.5ft x 7ft give or take tongue.gif

Try searching Yahoo Japan there's a section solely for darkroom equipment.
https://tinyurl.com/y8zytusd

B&W enlargers with incandescent bulb should work just fine in Malaysia.
Japanese timer's use 110v and requires a voltage converter.

==========================

Have an old school Lucky enlarger stored at home it's massive and heavy sweat.gif
Unsure if it has a 6x6 carrier tho...

Looks something like this http://www.apug.org/forum/index.php?thread...o-rf-66.144661/

How much is shipping from Japan? I am planing to get an enlarger from UK as they have a lot of used enlargers there new and old on ebay and other sites.
Paper and chemicals can be bought from shashinki but I tried calling them a few times to ask about enlargers and those people there are so blur about camera stuff it is a wonder they work there.
*
Shipping cost not sure yet.

Getting a quote FromJapan will share breakdown of charges + shipping once it's ready.

Do share your experience getting an enlarger as well.

EDIT: FYI I'm using https://www.fromjapan.co.jp service to consolidate and ship multiple auctions.

Got a Meopta Opemus 6 BW enlarger for GBP35. Planning to get Paterson film and printing kit new and focus finder before packing everything for shipment to KL. Fortunately I have contact there to help forward me the stuff though a Malaysian shipper; GBP 50 for up to 40kg. Will still be awhile before i get my stuff though.
*
Nice that's good value for money and Meopta's have reputation for good build quality.

While you're get spare opal bulbs, replacements are hard to get in Malaysia.

Any where still can get slide film around KL? for 120 format.

ColorDotCom has it in stock and they're also able to process and mount slides for you thumbsup.gif

I will look into the condition when it finally arrives. Fortunately enlargers is nothing much more than a projector with a bulb so I am thinking of converting it to a LED light source if required.

BTW are you also getting all the darkroom equipment like trays, focus finder, thongs etc from Japan too?
*
Yup getting accessories from Japan...

Fortunately enlarger auction came with majority of accessories needed including paper.
Not sure if paper included is good I'll assume it's not lah.

On my shopping list right now is
1) Safe-light (DIY using red led strip)
2) Timer (got a 110v timer, prefer 220v)
3) Chemicals
4) Paper.

Will DIY the safe-light and maybe a timer.

Chemicals and paper either from Shashinki or ColorDotCom.

=============================

LED's would be an interesting experiment to compare against incandescent bulbs.

There's lots of different opinions concerning LED's, it would be good to try and see printed results firsthand thumbsup.gif

dude. what bottles are you getting for your chemical storage? I am planning to get those Accordion Storage Bottle from AP but they are expensive and I have not seen any used but good conditions one yet.
Not planning to get a timer for now unless I find one for cheap but when I convert the bulb to LED for the enlarger I will make a timer using an Arduino controller.

My purchase so far:
1. Meopta Opemus 6 with 3 lenses
2. Ilford EM10 exposure meter
3. Paterson Micro Focus Finder
4. Ilford Multigrade Filters (9x9cm)
5. Paterson Film&Print Kit PTP572 (the only new item I am buying so far. all others are secondhand)

Remaining (so far)
1. Accordion storage bottles
2. Kaiser film spirals (the paterson version is harder to use in the darkroom IMO)
*
Accordion bottles worried I'll squeeze too hard and spill everywhere. hahaha

Planning to use whatever bottles I have lying around for chemical storage.
Regarding oxidization my plan is to breathe into the bottles and quickly cap it. CO2 should displace all the oxygen in theory.

What I've got is:-
1) LPL 3301D Enlarger
2) LPL Deluxe Grain Focus
3) Ilford 3x3 MutiGrade Filters (don't really know how to use filters)
4) Scheider Componon-S 50mm f/2.8 lens
5) Fujimoto Lucky Timer 3
5) Misc paper easel, thongs, bottles and stirrers etc.

On my pending list is
Chemicals and Paper
Lab-Box (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2017788873/lab-box-the-first-multi-format-daylight-loading-fi/description)

Have you decided on what type of paper to get?
Super confused with all paper choices from Ilford.

Nice setup dude. Which film development tank are you going to use btw?

For paper and chemicals just use whatever is cheapest for now until a bit more pro. I remember making many test prints before I was happy and processed the final print. Luckily it was all sponsored by my university last time. Since you have the filters look for the Ilford multigrade paper. The other graded papers cannot have their contrast changed by the ilford papers.
*
Development tankI have peterson tank that takes 2 reels, also looking forward to try LAB-BOX backed the project on kickstarter.

Hoping it would make loading and developing convenient. Only drawback is one roll at a time.

Also lusting brows.gif after a Jobo procesor, way too pricey sweat.gif so no plans to get anytime soon.

QUOTE(catpowder @ Jun 21 2017, 09:09 PM)
I am fine with other film types – I just love colour film, and so far the few types of Fuji's I've used had very atmospheric outcomes. Ilford got colour film also? How much and where do you usually source for films?

Also to user bdrc, thanks for recommending Bang Bang Geng... I will ask for their price list. smile.gif
*
Love Fuji 400HPro going to Melaka this weekend and taking the Fujifilm with me.

Last few rolls purchased at the old price.

Wonder if it's cheaper in Japan coz I have trip there next year so can stock up.
