While you can forget about the issue about high iso noise and additional 2mp, the improved AF borrowed from the 30D might be worth it.

As quoted from dpreview:
QUOTE
One criticism of the EOS 300D/350D was auto-focus, Canon has decided to bite the bullet and simply installed the considerably better nine point AF sensor from the EOS 30D in the EOS 400D. This affords both faster, more accurate focusing as well as center point AF which is compatible with F2.8 lenses.

I have been playing with a 30D a couple of days ago and the 50mm f/1.8 + larger viewfinder made it a breeze to focus, compose and shoot. The AF was much responsive compared to my D70s + 50mm f/1.8 so i think the AF does makes a difference in shooting.

Now i'm even more gatal for D80.. unexpectedly poisoned myself thru a canon. Geez.... sweat.gif

For budget's sake, I suggest you change to the new 400D, which have lotsa similiarities to compared to the 30D. If you dun have lotsa lenses I suggest you sell off your D70s and 50mm while they still fetch a good price and get the 400D with EF18-55mm Kit Lens. That's changing from 6MP to 10MP you know ... poison poison poison ... brows.gif
Bwahahaha, good one there. But you're forgetting that the D80 comes with

- D200 large viewfinder
- 11-area AF system (new version of Multi-CAM 1000, similar to D200)
- Improved high ISO (based on what i've seen)
- In camera tweaking (D-lighting, image overlay, multiple exposures, color modes)
- Upgraded wireless flash support (CLS)
- Manual kelvin temperature

Must counter poison... lol. I'm sticking to the dark side thank you whistling.gif

Nice try as well ... but actually I am not directing the poison at you. I know you're a Nikoner for good.
Well you were quoting me in your reply.. biggrin.gif

But anyway, i feel that it's the same thing in the nikon and canon camp this time around. They are both targeting at the market segment created by Sony A100. What the 400D is to 350D is the same as D80 to D70s.

My 2 cents is that if you have not outgrown your old camera there is really no need for a new one. If you need a second body to work with, the new body should be a nice candidate.

Canon's not the only one with white lense now.. Nikon's white lense is slowly appearing too! Reasoning? I don't know.. but it's every bit as long, hard, cold, white and sexy tongue.gif thumbup.gif
