I believe you guys has heard about the MI cloud security issue.
http://www.soyacincau.com/2014/08/11/xiaom...urity-concerns/

Even the just OTA the v23 to fix the problem, but I highly encourage you to install CM security and do a scanning. You will find another leak that  need to be fix.

Hey guys,
I'm looking for case options. I'm currently wearing a Case-mate Tough on my Galaxy Nexus, and look for a similar amount of protection. It lifts off the screen from the ground by about 2mm, which has saved my phone plenty of times.

Basically it's some serious amount of silicone (especially around the screen! That's really important to me, that the screen is raised off the ground) held in place by some hard plastic. Or something like the Otterbox Commuter. Strictly no flip cover. If it's less slippery that's good. Glossy TPU is rather nice for example. Good looks are a plus, i.e. showing off the design of the phone. I like the tech21 iPhone cases, basically (IIRC) TPU around the edge (bumper style) with an additional layer of shock absorbing material around the edge of the phone, giving it great protection without adding much bulk elsewhere. Sadly I haven't seen such a thing for the Mi3... sad.gif

Any ideas? So far I have found the Rock Shield Series TPU case, but I can't find it on their homepage.

It does look like it offers reasonable protection. The sharp edges are a put off though, I've tried a similar case in a shop and it felt unpleasant. Also, more protection of the back than of the front? I'd rather have the thickness where it matters...

There's also this:
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=3279407&hl=
TPU is quite decent, but often a bit thin for me. This seems to be rather thick though...?

https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=3277569&hl=
This looks... interesting. No clue about the materials used...

https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=3231429&hl=# (Post 16)
Nice amounts of protection.

https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=3292582&hl= (Post 2)
Cocose Honeycomb. Another one that looks good. Nice design it seems. Doesn't lift off the screen all that much (not sure how those other TPU cases do...). Seems to be less than 1mm sad.gif

https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=3233281&hl=
Saw it in a shop. Not comfortable edges, tries to look like an iPhone sad.gif Protection seems reasonable...?

Also, what is the point of screen protectors? Glass or not? Cause shouldn't it be gorilla glass, so it shouldn't get scratches? I'm just worried about breaking the screen...
*
QUOTE(kadajawi @ Aug 13 2014, 01:26 AM)
Yeah, that is my favourite so far. Have you dropped the phone on asphalt? How does it feel in your hands? Is it slippery, or more like glossy TPU? I'm really worried about the sharp edges. The Mi3 has a nice, rounded case, which is, well, nice, and they ruin that buy making it square with sharp edges sad.gif Just so it looks more macho.  cry.gif
*
im using the rock case...yes,it makes the phone squarerish but the protection is adequate enough...same like me before using CM also...now just use the rock case with glass SP...

the honeycomb its ok to use and it feels kinda cheap because of the bumper around the phone it's plastic...

any1 willing to do bulk order?

$29.80 convert to RM is about RM95. Not bad price since it offers such durable protection.  drool.gif

quite cheap also...what colour can get??

Mh. Is the squarish thing comfortable to use? Doesn't it cut into the hand? The Mi3 is already stretching it... my hand isn't so big.

I've used my Galaxy Nexus with a rubbery screen protector (self healing) for a while, but in the end I chose I'd rather have scratches. It's not like they disturb in regular use. And the GN uses softer glass because of the curved screen.

No alternative to the rock? And which affordable glass protector would be good? Hm... Would it be more reflective? Will the casing still fit properly?

I wish Otterbox, Case-mate or one of the other established players would be making cases for it...
*
well to me it is comfortable because i got big hands... laugh.gif

i use mocolo sp...got from fb...
https://www.facebook.com/groups/695952613795534/

alternative to rock case it's the lovemei case bro...someone posted the video on the previous page...

Mh... so you use the Mocolo SP with the case? Does it fit properly? How much was the SP? Am considering either the Rock or a clear TPU case with a glass SP now... clear TPU would look better (and be cheaper biggrin.gif ), and worst come to worst I guess only the SP will shatter...? In that case 100% protection isn't needed, can replace the SP if necessary...

Also, my Mi3 has passed the processing stage... how long will I still have to wait? biggrin.gif
*
yup bro...fits nicely to the screen...bought it from the link i gave you...rm25 per piece excluding postage...the sp is good for me...only downside a bit of fingerprint magnet but it is easy to clean BTW...just buy both bro...i got 2 rock case and 2 honeycomb case before i bought my phone...now the honeycomb sitting quietly in my drawer... laugh.gif

Anyone here modded their Rock Shield casing to use the Mikey button? Wondering if it's worth cutting off the tab to use the button.
*
not worth it bro because the height of the case is quite high and the mikey is just so low...

gravity allow u to unlock original aosp roms potential
like wsm-tools... allow u to customize ur lock screen, notification, display, power, etc etc
i found it is actually more powerful then custom roms... cm/paranoid/slim/ all is not needed

u have the beauty of both world... aosp (minimal roms) + custom roms feature

---
xprivacy is one crazy f***ing b**** tools
nsa, hate it, fbi hate it, google hate it, apps developer hate it, almost everyone hate it except user  thumbup.gif

it is something similar to miui security
u able to disable contact, internet, sensor, location sharing with the apps

but it goes beyond it
it able to FAKE all the INFO... imagine i m writing this from KL but it will show im from Paris/Tokyo/NY
it is depend how r u going to use with it...

if u able to master it....
u will be rewarded with perfect anonymous profile in the world

ps: xprivacy not for average ppl

waahhh!!!

Lately i have a problem with instagram. Whenever I reach the final upload page, the whole photo seems to appear all black and if i upload it the photo comes out black as well. Is this a bug in v23?

Another prob is with is stock browser. Sometimes it just crashes by itself when i'm browsing, bringing me to the home page without any notice.

Guys do you guys drain the battery and fully charge it after each updates or flashing?

I'm not sure if this is necessary for a full fastboot flash. As full fastboot flash overwrites everytthing on the phone, thus a new fresh battery calibration?
*
nope...just use normally...once a week i'll drain my battery till below 10%,off the phone and charge it...

QUOTE(kadajawi @ Aug 21 2014, 12:13 PM)
Ok, me again, with case questions: I've been looking through shops yesterday, trying to find a case for my phone. I've given up the hope for something like an Otterbox... the Rock thing is too unergonomic. There's also a Rock-a-like that sometimes gets sold as SGP (but isn't), which has a circular cutout in the center, tried that one on, and it didn't fit. The front lip was basically at the same height as the glass screen (including screen protector). The back was very well protected... the part of the phone that is the least sensitive. So basically a case that makes the phone not so nice to hold, big and fat, but doesn't protect properly.

Plenty of TPU cases out there, but I could not find even one that is the WCDMA version. Why do these shops import the cases for the SCDMA version of the phone? It has holes in different places.

So basically... does anyone here have a TPU case, ideally clear or tinted grey, glossy back (not so slippery), no prints, with holes in the right places? The more the screen is raised off the ground the better.

Thanks guys!

Btw., anyone tried Mi2raw Cam yet? It is _awesome_. Lets you get so much more out of the camera. As long as you can deal with 25 MB files per photo. biggrin.gif
*
same like my honeycomb case...the front part recess same level with the screen so i use rock shield case which has a raise higher than the screen protector...the hole cut out i cant be bothered as it doesnt effect me that much (i dont notice any problems so far)

we win some we lose some...sometimes i just change to my momax backcase to have that sexy profile of the phone...

can anyone confirm if this ad is true?.
http://www.mudah.my/Xiaomi+MI+Mi3+Quad+Cor...GB-29149388.htm

i'm not used to buy things at mudah and the seller only had 2 ads in his account, so i'm a bit suspicious.

the price they asking for is ridicilously cheap compare to other seller who currently ask around RM 770+
and the china set also used to sell around RM700

better get from lyn buy & sell board bro...at least we can still verify it from here....

Nah. I think I'm cool with v14. When I charge it with a power bank it's perfectly cool.

I think I just don't let it overcharge again next time. Nothing can be done now.

Lesson learnt, no more China phones for me.

They are cheap and have good specs but they have compromised little things that you won't notice when buying a phone, e.g. Mic quality, speaker quality, battery quality, motherboard, techincal support & etc.

The original charger also looks and feel flimsy. Looks fugly too to be honest. That's the only thing that they should've copied iPhone but did not.
*
QUOTE(viqq @ Aug 22 2014, 12:08 PM)
Agreed.  Even their firmware updates brings havoc more than help. Havoc havoc ha ha havoc havoc.

I'm done with this phone. Let me use it for a few months more and see what happens next.

By the way,  I did another experiment with a power bank, same thing, the phone still gets charged and heated even after a long period after 100. Suspecting they don't have this charge protection thingy installed on their battery.
*
i laughed at your response bro...sempat lg tu selit lagu havoc... laugh.gif

i think you should upgrade your firmware...since my 1st phone which is htc desire till now,i always charge my phone overnight...no such problem encountered bro...give it one last try upgrading your firmware and see the outcome...

I did say MOST. Yes, Pineng is another cheap and good quality brand. Using mostly li-polymer battery, it is very popular now besides XM. I've been considering Pineng 929 15k mah pb before Xiaomi pb.

However it same mah pb is still double the price of Xiaomi although the added price goes to torch light and lcd and usage of the more expensive li-poly battery but do we really need torch light and lcd for double the price of pb tho I had to admit its twin charging port also looks attractive.

I'm just saying at its price the nearest competitors of equal quality with extra add on is double the price.
*
true that bro...depends on one usage also...for work,i bring my xiaomi pb...vacation wise i bring my pb...can charge my wife phone also....

But does the new firmware has a new kernel? I don't know how to check. If the kernel is the same I think changing the ROM wouldn't make much diff leh bro..  hmm.gif
Is it? This is my first Android phone.. I only flashed my Kindle Fire before..

*
aahhh...about that im not too sure bro...updating the rom is quite easy bro....
