QUOTE(Cavino @ Aug 27 2014, 01:45 PM) All displays sucked battery power, its normally 50% of my power consumption. Its a given thing. Ok, Choco cooky is one that I really hate. Although the theme of S4 is boring, I'm ok with the font. Been using choco cooky font since S2, love it somehow. My S4 used a stable 460mah throughout when using screen while MI3 fluctuated between 530~600++ mah based on gsam battery app reading. Not sure about the accuracy. For me, I don't adjust or play with photo adjustment, just click and shoot. For that, Samsung produced a better and clearer images than MI3. Tried that with both MI3 and S4. Note that I did not really play around the setting, just capture an image of same thing. That's for normal layman who just take pictures without thinking. So far I'm relatively happy with the battery consumption. Can't get through a day, but I doubt I could with any phone. At least I don't run out of battery after 3-4 hours... As for the camera... photos I don't care about turn out good enough with the standard camera app, and being able to shoot raw is great. |

QUOTE(jolokia @ Aug 27 2014, 02:00 PM) I believe Samsung Super Amoled is not Nexus Amoled. Mh... the advantage of Super AMOLED is that a digitizer is built into the screen, which means more light can pass through. Super AMOLED Plus though switches from a Pentile pixel layout to a regular one, which is sharper at the same resolution (Pentile is cheating a bit IIRC).I assumed most user would just take photo using default auto mode aka leasure photo, this is where Samsung outshine Mi3, Samsung able to take photo on low light while Mi3 alway show "dark" photo unless one manually adjust the flash to be on, Mi3 dual LED flash seem not even as bright as my S3Mini maybe 1 big flash is better than 2 small one There r just too many setting which i bet most user had no idea what it does, maybe Mi3 should let it be less "Pro" after all how many of user actually admire that..hehe Additional note : The Indonesia theme looks great at lease for me lah I agree, the flash of the Mi3 is a _bit_ of a disappointment. It has a rather green hue, and it's not as bright as what my Samsung Galaxy Nexus had (ok, that had 5 LEDs. 1 big one, surrounded by 4 weaker ones. It got really hot after a while of torch usage Fair enough, ease of use is more important to most. Though I find the camera app to be disappointingly basic... Samsung should be more advanced? Ok, I have found manual exposure on the stock app, but it doesn't give me a preview, which makes things harder. Also access to that could be easier. QUOTE(viqq @ Aug 27 2014, 05:13 PM) Well, what I'm trying to say is that whether a phone gets charged up faster or not, isn't model dependant. Factors such as charger max output / phone max input and battery capacity has to be considered. Interesting! The Xiaomi MDY-3-EB is listed... but what is it? It's not the PB...And if you check the link here: QuickCharge 2.0 has arrived, the XiaoMi 3 is actually listed as a certified QuickCharge 2.0 device I'm not sure if the original charger that came with the Malaysian pack is a certified QuickCharge charger or not though since I'm in the office right now. Also, does that mean unless we use Quickcharge 2.0, which is very fast (9V and 2A!) it will be limited to something that may be less than 5V/2A? Let me try with my PB (2A output)... will report the findings soon. |

QUOTE(asyraff_pa @ Aug 27 2014, 06:01 PM) Hi guys, i just bought mi3 and there are update to v22 stable version. I'm running v23. Update to 22, then update to 23. It is reasonably stable for me... a few occasional hickups, especially related to the stock browser (just crashes) and Chrome (text disappears on the screen, or flickers, ...), otherwise I'm happy.should i just update it? because i heard a lot of bugs through this update. thanks. I'm going to wait a bit too, early developer builds are a bit risky for me. I guess we can only buy that charger in China? They could have bundled it... Also, how hot will the phone get when using a quick charger? No stable because it isn't stable yet. This is a beta test. Stable will come once they have found and fixed most of the bugs. QUOTE(w143 @ Aug 27 2014, 07:10 PM) Mine too, but I don't think it is a problem. I recorded quite a few video, sound is not a issue for the video. Yeah. Those shops all only import cases for the SCDMA version that is only usable in China and not sold in Malaysia... Those mics that are blocked are probably for the noise cancellation feature... though I can imagine the one at the back next to the LED being useful for video. Hm. I've tried to check how fast it charges with the PB, which can supply 2A. It _looks_ like 1.5A, but it's all over the place. Sometimes around 1A, sometimes 1.7-1.8A. On average perhaps 1.5A? QUOTE(sleyer @ Aug 27 2014, 10:26 PM) Don't have too much stuff on the phone.I don't think keeping all the photos in the cloud is a good idea... the cloud may be fine to transfer stuff, or as an additional backup, but I always keep a copy on my hard drive. I do use CrashPlan in the cloud as a backup, but it's a backup. Especially with Dropbox you've got to be careful. I use it to move photos and videos from my laptop in Malaysia to my desktop in Spain (running out of space on the laptop), once I something out of the Dropbox folder on my desktop the files disappear on my laptop... |

Speaking of warranty... what about the sticker on the back? Can pull off? Need to keep somewhere?

Damn it, you guys are making me itch to update already... then again, maybe not.
QUOTE(fotosintesis @ Aug 29 2014, 06:17 PM) N yes, guess setting panel may hog more battery, since it is WHITE in colour, just like apple :facepalm Nope. That only makes a difference for OLED screens. With LED screens it makes no difference if you displaying black or white, only the brightness setting makes a difference. |

QUOTE(fotosintesis @ Aug 30 2014, 11:36 AM) The technical explanation is that with OLED, every single pixel can be powered or not. If it isn't, no light is produced and no power consumed, and the pixels themselves produce the light. With a TFT/LCD/LED display (same thing basically) there is a screen that changes how transparent it is depending on what you want to have displayed, and behind that is a backlight that has to be on. For high end TVs there can be many LEDs spread out behind the screen (instead of a few at the corner), and they are able to be turned on or off or vary in brightness depending on what is needed in that region of the screen (which is why they are thicker... slim TVs can't have good image quality). That doesn't happen on phone screens where space and power consumption are very important.I've been using a phone with on display buttons (and no menu button) for years now, and I very quickly adjusted to MIUI 5 and really like having a dedicated menu button. The recent button arrangement with long hold is pretty nice to me... Hopefully they'll add that option... I'm a bit confused about my powerbank. Just for fun I plugged it in via USB. Started at 2 dots a few days ago. It went to 3... stayed there a day or two, and now it's back to 2. This post has been edited by kadajawi: Aug 30 2014, 11:49 AM |

How about turning off security? Shouldn't it work then? If it doesn't, no need to look in the security app, that's not the problem...

I'm a bit confused. I'm reading this article:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/snapdr...ia-z2,3777.html On page 2 it mentions that the 2nd number in the Snapdragon model number denotes which modem it has... and CPU-Z tells me I have a MSM 8974... 9 means LTE. So my Mi3 has a LTE modem?! Also, the GPU speed would help in identifying which processor exactly is used... but CPU-Z doesn't tell me what I need to know. Snapdragon 800 and 801 share the same model numbers... having HEVC support would be neat. |

QUOTE(slaughterer @ Sep 2 2014, 06:27 PM) Antutu can be cheated. Install CPU-Z and look there. Also, if you can install a firmware update, it should be real (I think). I have some experience with fakes, they won't allow updates, and CPU-Z detected that they have different specs than they should have.IwanAGP: You bought the bundle one, right? That one doesn't have chocolate smell and has different packaging. Mine came with what should be the Chinese packaging, and it smelled like chocolate. At least it tried to. Bought it at the same time as when the bundle was available, but I paid the full RM 50 instead of only 30. |

QUOTE(slaughterer @ Sep 2 2014, 09:01 PM) I'm sorry, but it's a fake. Quite impressive that they managed to get most of the information that is displayed right... but on the SoC page it states a Mediatek CPU. @Cavino: The outside box is white. But the plastic box the IEMs came in was dark brown with a clear cover. This post has been edited by kadajawi: Sep 2 2014, 09:11 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

In my last post I have attached screenshots and more info.
Few differences I noticed: Well, obviously a different CPU. Mediatek MT6582. It's a budget to mid level chip, even by Mediatek standards. 1.3 GHz at most, so the clock speed is fake, and it only supports up to 1280x720 displays. That's what they seem to have used, if you look at the resolution of your screenshot (mine is 1080x1920). The GPU information is fake, it's a Mali 400 and not an Adreno 330. More conflicting info on the System page, with the Mediatek processor being listed under hardware, while it says it's a Qualcomm Snapdragon above. Interesting that it says it's using a newer kernel version than my Mi3, despite being on the latest (?) MIUI 4.5 version. Why is screen resolution in dp higher than on the real phone? Your phone also only seems to have something like 3 GB of storage, not 16, and especially not 64. That explains your weird storage issues. QUOTE(slaughterer @ Sep 2 2014, 09:25 PM) Bought for rm850 for 64gb ver.. If you can get back your money you're lucky already. Even in Singapore I've seen a guy have massive problems getting back his money. Even went to cops, court, ... still nothing. Before buy i ask him wether this ap or ori.. He confidently said it ori n no ap... I think he may have wanted the 64 GB version (I agree, 16 is not much. My 2011 Galaxy Nexus had 16 GB, and that was hardly acceptable...). Sadly Xiaomi doesn't sell that version in Malaysia, for whatever reason. Do you think the seller will tell you it's a fake? So many fakes floating around, it's ridiculous. Maybe the seller got cheated too, who knows. |

It took them less time to deliver from China than it takes Lazada to deliver from Malaysia... (ok, Merdeka didn't help). But of course there is no guarantee, you might not be lucky and they deliver with something else than FedEx. Even FedEx may run into problems. etc. But for many it didn't take them long. They have produced enough Mi3 by now...
Any idea what went wrong? I plugged in my phone via USB to charge slowly, and the next morning it was off. Battery flat. It just stopped charging. Wasn't warm. This post has been edited by kadajawi: Sep 3 2014, 10:19 AM Attached thumbnail(s) |
