Broadband provider
ISP/package: Unifi VIP 5Mbps
Location: Taman Melawati, Kuala Lumpur
Have you called your ISP's helpline?: Yes

Personal equipment
Modem and routers are standard TM branded once when they come and fix this

Problem details
First occurence of problem: Auto disconnect periodically when playing Dota
Problem frequency: Always or too frequent
Problem description: Everytime I play Dota 2, I auto disconnect very frequently like every 2 minutes or sometimes if I am lucky 5 minutes. My ping in Dota is very good 19ms with 0% packet loss. However, my Dota 2 is not stable and a "WARNING! Connection problem. Auto-disconnect in x seconds." will show up every few minutes specified previously and causes me a brief freeze of the game like 6 seconds or more. This can be very frustrating during important moments in Dota 2 where I go into war and have to be in control of my character instead of being detached due to disconnection.

I called up unifi one day and they told me to use direct cable. I did it seem to fix the problem for the first came but after that it came back worse than before and auto disconnect or even throws me out of the game and forces me to reconnect. What is happening? This doesn't happen in my cousin's house who has maxis 10mbps and stays less than 2km away from my house.

Could you run a ping test.. post back. perhaps see if it is the internet connection drop entirely or is it just affecting your online game.

Double check the status led light of the modem, is it blinking or stable.

Connect to router by cable then let us know if you still have problems.

TM equipment can sometimes be shitty.

Same problem
Broadband provider
ISP/package: Unifi VIP 5Mbps
Location: Subang Jaya, Selangor

Personal equipment:
standard orange and white router, silvermodem. both with tm logo

Problem details:
i am directly connected to the modem and i have visuals on the lights when i am on the computer.

it OFTEN disconnects once every hour-ish( for less than a minute, annoying while gaming) every bloody day for over 2 months and all the lights will disappear except for the tm logo and lan.

then the dsl light will blink and then all the other lights will be lit (basically just like when you on the modem).

unifi plz

also recently some surveyer (from tm i presume) came to do a survey to my area about internet, so im sure this problem is common. (maybe faulty modems have been distributed? or the line cacat)

I found the solution to this exact problem. Just go to login into your router then go to the "advance" tab. There untick "enable anti attack" and then hit "apply". Now your problem should be solved.

sorry for the late reply. Haven't been on lyn much these days. Im using the original modem provided by TM (attached a picture below for your reference).

Anyway, you just have to login to your router. In case you haven't figure that out. Simply go to your web browser and type 192.168.0.1 on the address bar then hit enter.

The default username is "admin" and leave the password blank/empty. Once inside, you follow the instructions I posted before and you should be good to go.

Hope this helps. smile.gif

Just did it and Im still monitoring my connectivity. Why would you think that the anti attack causes the intermitent connection?
