you need the Windows Insider app, plus you must sign up as an Insider. it's a separate program to the developer preview.

Microsoft has released contacts+message backup for WP8.1, which can be used to backup contacts, sms and mms to SD card.

yes, recently I got a merged set of outdated import-from-sim contacts with updated ms account contacts.. I'm still sorting out the mess two weeks later.
since windows phone doesn't allow us to update sim contacts, I feel this new option to make a local back up has some value. |

Microsoft closed their Windows Phone Developer Preview forum.
It makes me wonder if there will be any more updates to WP8.1 under the Preview. Hopefully, they would officially push out GDR2 at least while we wait for Windows 10 Mobile. |

I did follow the same steps previously with my Lumia 735, yet it only reverted to 8.1.1. Maybe Update 2 is already available for download using this tool for some models. I will try later.

I doubt it's Update 2, maybe just that rebooting issue update that many received yesterday.

1) Check if Battery Saver is active, since that will normally stop notifications.
2) Try an app called System Tiles, which includes a Stop Music tile. |

I don't think anyone can get Update 2 by the Windows 10 route now, that was just temporary fix by Microsoft.
