Hi guys, im looking for some quick answers. Will appreciate it.

1. As of this time, is the game worth a purchase? I downloaded and played the demo yesterday, tristram area. seems to me like this one the map is a lot more linear than the first 2. mostly a tight path to follow before reaching the destination. Used to be we get to explore huge area.

Thoughts? Is the overall experience (map, skills(can you even level up your skills? synergize them?),stats) been simplified compared to D2?

2. What is the best method of buying this game? Getting the hard copy at games store or get it from Diablo official site?

3. Once I purchased, downloaded and installed, what happens in the future should I reformat my machine?
How is the backup like? I can't backup this like other games can I ? So just backup the D3 folder?

4. Even single player mode I need to be signed in their server. How reliable is their server? I do not wish to pay rm1xx and be at their server's mercy (not able to sign in, laggy etc.)

5. May be silly question but, what happens if someday Blizard decides to shut down all the servers. Does that mean I can no longer play the game I purchased?

Thanks guys. nod.gif

1. Skills are unlocked when leveling. You can't level up the skills, but you can use runes and legendary loots to improve it. Stats are automatically raised each time you level up. No manual stats control like D2.

2. Blizz Store selling the base game and expansion for $39.99 each , local retailers around RM110 each. Safest way would be buying directly from store, unless you wanna keep the box then go for retail copy.

3. Just backup the file. When want to reinstall, just set the directory to the D3 files

4. Now server is quite stable comparing to the launch time. There are weekly maintenance, usually on Tuesday night. Follow their FB or twitter for quick update on server status.

5. They haven't said anything about that so hard to say. Not that they gonna bankrupt soon anyway tongue.gif

if u like D2 & LoD, you will find D3 & RoS rather bland.

speaking of which i am a massive D2 fan, and bought the D3 & RoS just last week. i found that D3 is no where near D2.

as i am only in act 2 normal. im may not be the right person to judge the game, its too early. yet so far, i hardly find anything that is much interesting or as intoxicating as D2.

the game lobby is shit, u cant see the other gamers, u cant find their games listed in the lobby like D2, the only way you find someone to play with is all by chance. u can hardly meet other gamers unless u join a chatroom. or u have them added to your friend list.

Characters are silly, the chinese kungfu monk & indian voodoo WD are exact dupes of the street fighter characters. but the barb, DH(zon), wiz(mage), crusader(paladin) are very much the same as D2.

no more stat allocation, u will find everyone of the same class identical. u cant make a str mage or a dex barb or an int assassin where u will find in D2.

skills unlock when u lvl. no skills point allocation hence lack of flexibility; and worst still not energize. these does kill the fun as you cant create a whole new char with drastic skills set according to your liking, but u only allowed to tune here & there making it marginally better than the others.

storyline is linear, yet dull. close to what u found in D2 storyline, only add some ketchup and chili to spice it up.

weapons & eq are ok, but i hate they added stupid items like the hamburger weapon. to me this ruined the game. making it no difference than the chinese & korean mmorpgs.

cow level is a joke (im not sure if thats the cow lvl, i might be wrong) i found toons like carebears shooting rainbow in a fairy land. OMG this i totally puke. how can blizzard made a horror/gothic rpg with 3 years old girly stuffs in it?

sorry for the rants, but thats what i feel after playing for a week. If u are expecting something like D2, sorry u will be disappointed. blizzard is no longer the blizzard like 10-20yrs ago. it is now activision....

the only motivation to keep me playing is my nostalgia inherited into the earlier Diablo sequels. the problem with me & many other D1 D2 fans is our expectation is roof high on D3. orelse we might find it an ok game but not decent.

if u can wait, G2A.com is having weekly sale on fri/sat/sun. i bought D2 +RoS for US$50 = RM160. big saving compared to blizz store or local retail. but its a Polish website so you know the risk, so far their rating is quite good.

well rm160 is not very expensive, the initial launching price was 2x or 3x higher. incase u decide to join us, add me Yamato#1197 smile.gif

goodluck and enjoy the game.

Hi, thank you all for the answers.

From the insights you've shared, sounds to me like D3 is borderline ARPG and beat them up.

Linear storylines(granted, D2 too, to some extend), no stat allocations, no skills allocations, no storyline choices, minimal skills augmentations from gears.

Given the action is crisp and flashy, and some may find the gear grinding interesting, there isn't much more beyond that is there?

Far from me from bashing this game, I guess I'd better stick to other games for now.

Again I thank you for your honest opinions. smile.gif

Almost 500 hours into D3. That's more time I've put into D3 than other games combined.

Already spent 3529+ hours. laugh.gif

774+ hours on Barb.
770+ hours on DH.
658+ hours on WD.
620+ hours on Wiz.
599+ hours on Monk.
108+ hours on Cru.

D3 first launched on 19 May 2012.
That's about 820 days since D3 launched.

3529 hours / 820 = 4.3 hours.
I spent average 4.3 hours a day on this crap in the past 820 days. tongue.gif

in b4 how many hours one spend on a game does not justify how good that game is ....

so far can only see 2 reply that really explain how good/bad D3 is ....
