You can't OTA because the recovery is not Nubia stock. I believe the recovery is CWM.

Therefore, we need to sacrifice the CWM. Download the full 1.41 Zip ROM (724MB) from Nubia.cn and flash via settings > About phones > System update > SD card.

Once rooted, u can install back the CWM. Google to perform this...

Yes but GAPPs will not work anymore. So, hv to install GMSToolkit to replace old GAPPs.

But i don't need or won't install CWM/TWRP anymore because the stock ROM from nubia.cn will constantly appearing once a month. Hence, leave the stock Nubia recovery alone is my preference.

Whenever there is a brand new stock ROM available, we just need to:
1) Full unroot via SuperSU.
2) Reboot.
3) Download stock ZIP file (about 700MB) into internal storage
4) Flash via SD card method.
5) Reboot.
6) Root using Towelroot.
7) GMSToolkit to install GAPPs.

This will not disturb existing Apps and database. Hence, no restore from Titanium Backup is required.

Ok, so all i need to do is to install and run the GMSToolkit apk to get google services running again. This way, i can retain my existing data and apps after the upgrade right?

Thanks! rclxms.gif

Yes, that's right.

I never thought that ZTE stock ROM is that straightforward. Unlike, LeMoto flagship, the K910, it is abit more challenging to flash, root & GAPPs.

I believe ZTE is following Xiaomi method in pushing ROM to the public. They are less restricted compared to LeMoto & Huawei.

Huawei is the worst model to update ROM. Even after rooting, certain directory are still "locked" and need Xposed app to unlock them.

Now that i hv owned ZTE, LeMoto and Huawei (sorry Xiaomi but you better install high grade antenna), I am preferring ZTE for future phone replacement. Hopefully they will stay like this forever...

I'm afraid such a phone isnt available at the moment. I guess most manufacturers choose 2G for 2nd SIM when the first one has an active 3G/4G connection is to reduce battery consumption. In addition, if both SIMs can be connected at 3G/4G, how do u apportion the data connection??  rclxub.gif

I believe 3G/4G is the network itself, not necessarily includes data connection. Like in 2G you can be connected to only voice/sms network or all (voice/sms/data) if you turn on data. Same goes with 3G. Because in Japan the slowest network is 3G, and 2G doesn't exist, people who don't use data are still connected to the 3G network anyway, just without data. This is what I'm looking for, dual sim phone whose secondary sim falls back to 3G instead of 2G when the primary sim is active.

This is quite disappointing to hear of. Whats the status of your upgrade now?

I used to own Alcatel Idol X previously. Perhaps this model is the one suits your needs. Just double confirm before purchase yaaa.... but if it's not, final solution is to carry two phones loohhh.....

Your requirements required two separate antennae in the phone's body. This allows both SIMs to SIMULTANEOUSLY receive 3G signal in each dedicated separate antenna. It is NOT necessarily called Full-Dual-SIM-Dual-Active (FDSDA) phone. The FDSDA also requires two antennae hardware setup.

No... No... No...

No need to fastboot... I think you try to follow my PDF for LeMoto K910... That PDF does NOT work for Nubia Z7 Max.

Just follow these instructions :

1) Full unroot via SuperSU (can skip if urs not rooted).
2) Reboot.
3) Download stock ZIP file (filename "update.zip" @ 724MB) into EXTERNAL storage in the root directory.
4) Goto Settings > About phone > System updates > Update by disk > Start update.
5) Phone will reboot & flashing the stock ROM.
6) Root using Towelroot.apk.
7) GMSToolkit to install GAPPs.

updated to 1.41, stick to stock recovery.
Some problem when try to install GAPPs.

1. Root using Towelroot.apk. - done
2. SuperUser - done
3. GMSToolkit to install GAPPs. - always fail.

any ideas?
