Mattia Destro used to be my poacher back in FM13. IINM he was shortlisted by Cesare Prandelli in the Italy squad for the World Cup but got axed for the final squad. But one thing to take note is he is injury prone (referring to FM13 though).

hehe in FM13 i used him, he scored 30++ goals for my southampton.

and yes he in injury prone. after he score 30++ he injured, his performance get lousy and i dropped him to reserve.

QUOTE(briantwj @ Aug 21 2014, 01:31 AM)
1. Which is why we signed Fab in the first place. To give us an edge in killer pass and through balls. To be the creative spark. Like I said and what  this said. If we keep relying on Oscar like last season, we noe it's not enuff, teams found a way to stop our trident from playing. Which is why Mou signed Fab. If we all rmb, when up against those that park the bus against us. We could not break it down. Hence we nid another creator in Fab. Fab is here to shoulder the playmaker responsibility and make us not to over rely on Oscar and co.

2. What if Chelsea plays without Fabi and Hazard? Mou will always have an answer. Even if u are in doubt of Oscar, never doubt Mourinho. Yea. Maybe u can say I'm a Mourinho fan. laugh.gif When without Fabi and Hazard, Mou will always have a way. Look at how far we went in the CL last season without players like Matic, a proper LB, a consistent goal scorer. I credit our CL journey to Mourinho.  notworthy.gif

3.  Well. Oscar's stats speaks for itself, just Google bout it. I dun nid to clarify on that. I'll just requote

a - Oscar is one of Chelsea's three most successful tacklers last season
b - Oscar was the highest tackler of the World Cup
[attachmentid=4102465]

c - There were games last season when Oscar makes more successful tackles and interceptions on his own than the entire Chelsea backline

and also let's not forget the age difference, experience difference between Yaya and Oscar. Oscar is just 22, just starting his career at a big club. While Yaya is 31, had experience playing in big club like Barca. It's too unfair to compare Oscar and Yaya. Wait til Oscar peaks at his career at 31. Then we'll see.

Btw, imho, i think in time Oscar will play a deeper role as he ages and reach his peak. hmm.gif

4) Me too. I believe work rate is all about strength and determination. And Oscar have the most of it in the forward position. Maybe through out the squad, I would've pick Matic. But in an advance position. Oscar shows hunger in closing down and pressing and tackling. Sumthin that Mourinho admires.

To me, Oscar is the soldier and Mourinho is the general. A general will play the soldier to his best attribute in the general's tactic.

And also, we are all judging Oscar's performance based on just 1 game, against Burnley. Don't forget he had a long WC too. Fatigue and match fitness might bcum an issue too. Let's see how Oscar performs after a few more games.  nod.gif

+1. Fully agree with ur opinion...

Oscar is becoming more and mote of a midfield enforcer type than the artisan.... We lost last season when we sold mata....oscar unable to fulfill the high expectation on him...

yea. Believe it or not. Oscar have better tackling and defensive quality. Which is weird for an AM. His attacking attribute actually not bad too. But under Mourinho, he might improve on his defensive qualities. I still rmb he was given more freedom under RDM, hence he showed how gud he was attacking wise. Still rmb the wonder goal against Juve. drool.gif drool.gif

He is only 22. Curious to see how Mourinho mentor him and what type of player he will develop into under Mourinho. hmm.gif I hope Mou converts him into a Lampard type of player. icon_idea.gif

To me, Oscar is a perfect CM. He can defend and tackle well, his shooting and passing not bad too.

TBH, when JM's return to Chelsea was confirmed, I thought Oscar was going to be a casualty of Mou's reign, who knew he turned out to be one of his fav biggrin.gif .

yea. No1 would have predicted Mata to be the casualty. Our player of the year. It was really a confuse feeling for me. Seeing our player of the year leave us, and Mou in charge during that time. rclxub.gif

But I guess I'll just trust Mou. ohmy.gif

My verdict:

Fabregas - Absolutely the revelation signing of the season for us...perfect age and experience. At his prime.
This is the sort of talisman we really need when faced with deep defending counter attacking lower team.

Costa - Finally a well FUNCTIONING striker that doesnt suffer from mood swing performance and confidence as fragile as a glass...

Comparing FAB and OSCAR ability, i think is correct OSCAR are AM and FAB as CM. OSCAR does not have the passing range required for CM, he do short pass most, if he was force to stay deep at CM role, he will definitely just another RAM wining ball and short pass it to teammate. OSCAR have good close control and finding space, so he will be best at top of the field doing those running creating space and provide support to receive pass. FAB have those long range pass, that is what we needed badly on our team. FAB are equally good at AM because he so used to play false 9 high up the pitch but if he is high up the pitch mean a lot more defender marking him and there is little space for him.

In short, we need FAB long range pass on CM more than him ability at AM, as we have plenty of player that can play well in AM position but we have no one to replace FAB quality on CM role.

During WC, oscar sometimes play at right wing, his crossing really awesome. But i agree, his best position is AM.

Agree, that's why I said his standard of attributes are high, i.e. passing, crossing, movement, pace, tackling, pressing etc. I don't see any reason why having him on the field would be disadvantageous.

Oscar = jack of all trades. His passing, crossing, tackling is good.

Now just nid Mou's guidance to pin down his best position. hmm.gif

yeah but Chelsea still needs to pay part of Torres overpaid wages.
hopefully it goes through so we have a young striker to count on.

Torres can stay away from Chelsea for awhile and hopefully regains his confidence and goal scoring abilities when on loan. lol.
