If 3.8k is too much for you, then best bang of buck is Acer V Nitro currently.. the spec is almost the same as Z5 but the cooling is slightly worse than Z5.. and without sub-woofer..
But Acer V Nitro comes with LG-IPS screen which is better than Z5 normal screen..

Well VN7 do come with a good IPS Screen.. no doubt about that.. haha
And it comes with an optical drive.. very less laptop which is so thin comes with optical drive.. so it's a plus for me

guys i am planning buy a new cheap notebook... with around 1,5k or less budget.

currently i have my eye on this model...

Asus X452LDV-BING-VX287B X-Series 14" Laptop/ Notebook

its about 1.2k, i3, with a dedicated gfx card(820m)... but i can't find any review on it....

spec wise... it seems quite decent for its price, other brands need at least 1.4-1.6k only have a dedicated gfx card...

usage will be for web browsing, videos and light games. i have a desktop to handle the heavy stuff.

anyone with experience with this model?

those light games i meant are like flash games on facebook, or browser games. stuff u 'play' when your boss aren't looking or when u have free time to kill at work. 

will look into the hd5500... tho isn't having a dedicated vga card better? my current dell vostro(since 2008) is dying, even as i type this... the monitor needs to be at an angle only will have display, and its getting worse to find that 'angle'...

Hi sifus, looking to buy a new laptop to replace old Acer aspire 4820tg.

1. Preferred Brand : Acer, Asus, Lenovo
2. Budget : 3K to 4K
3. Usage : college, medium gaming, video/photo editing
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 15/16in

DOS version preferred because Microsoft has student discount windows 8.1pro only rm215.
Portability is important. (Dont need too portable such as ultrbook.
i7, nvidia dgpu with cuda.
3-5 hours battery life.
Good screen.
Good cooling.

Actually I'm looking at Acer V Nitro 15in and lenovo y50. I like the y50 more and it does have dos version. It has good cooling too. The only problem is the TN screen. I'm comfortable to replace the screen to IPS screen but it doesn't seems that I can buy the replacement screen anywhere in Malaysia.

I'm open to other alternative choices as well. I'll be buying the laptop in late q2. Should I also wait for Intel 5th gen cpu? Thanks in advance to all sifus 

Lenovo Y50 is using gtx860m also.. it has IPS screen variant also if I'm not mistaken

Comparing Z5, v 15 nitro and y50, they have similar specs. Acer cheapest but quality ok or not ah?

I am looking at Acer Malaysia website but it doesn't say if the V 15 Nitro have international warranty. This is important for me because I'm buying laptop to bring overseas. Any idea if they offer intl warranty like Lenovo?

Acer V Nitro comes with m2 slot.. But not sure it's SATA or PCIE slot.. So you can install SSD in the future.

Btw, seems MSI promoting like mad now. Got alot of deals for GE and GP series with free SSD or cheap upgrade. Gotta check some of their dealer and see. Last time at MITF also saw free SSD upgrade.
