Thanks sifu for the fast response. Did a quick research and found that lenovo flex 2 has slightly lower battery life.

Apart from the lenovo, is there any model that you would recommend me. Was thinking about hp pavilion for instance.

Thanks again in advance
*
Unfortunately you can't get great performance, portability and good battery lives at the same time, not with a 15" notebook at the price range sad.gif
You could consider these as well but the specs are more or less similar, so the battery lives won't be very much different:
15.6"

Some more these do not have FullHD screens as the Flex 2-15 and Z50-70 do icon_rolleyes.gif

PS: No need latest model, old model will be okay as well, as long as it's

underprice and capable for doing those listed tasks smile.gif))))! THANKS

Try these:

Satellite L50-A100X/XW, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT740M@RM2199[Onkyo], 4GB, 750GB, W8SL; 3 years local warranty; colors:silver/white

These are relatively older notebooks, so they are harder to find, but the prices should be cheaper as well nod.gif
upgrade to 8GB RAM at least

Recommending these because of the Mobile Processor, which is more powerful

Thank you sifu!

Can check how to identify if one laptop is using dedicated graphic card?

Also if the option 1 HP and 2 Lenovo can consider as not-so-easy-to-overheat ? XD
*
As long as you see Nvidia and AMD, then those are dedicated GPUs already icon_rolleyes.gif

As for the heat, its hard to tell without individual reviews for each unit... but in general, the thicker the notebook, the better the heat dissipation icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(shanky0 @ Aug 16 2014, 05:31 PM)
Dear Sifus,

Need your help in choosing a gaming laptop. Have narrowed down my choices to 2 laptops actually, either Lenovo Y50-70 or Illegear RE 15-EVO.

1. Preferred Brand : as above
2. Budget : 4k-5k
3. Usage : Gaming
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 15.6 inch
5. Remarks : Good screen and cooling system

My analysis is as follow -

Lenovo - slightly better specs
          - cheaper
          - better cooling system
          - default screen is kinda poor quality

Illegear - better after sales service
            - customizable

There are also a few variants for Y50-70, is the higher spec version worth it? Namely the quality of the screen.
If there are other better alternatives out there, pls do list them out for me.

Thanks in advance.
*
Are you sure the Lenovo Y50 performs better in terms of cooling? hmm.gif

Anyway, too bad you missed the Raya promotion for the Illegear RE-15 EVo haha, its a no brainer laugh.gif

For your requirements, the Illegear is definitely the better choice; opt for the best screen upgrade, get an OS and EITHER extend warranty to 3 years OR get a 128/ 256GB SSD icon_rolleyes.gif

Imho, anything more than FullHD on any device is ridiculous; especially so for 15-17" notebooks which you intend to game on- the GPU is not powerful enough to support your game anyway, so you have to dial down to FullHD or HD for better performance anyway. As for using qHD for normal browsing, personally I feel everything is too small and I often pressed wrongly (I am a power and efficient user), which can be frustrating (and this is on a 15" notebook, I've used the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro which is even smalelr @ 13" some more! Crazy!)

The choice is clear for you, its just a shame you missed the Raya promotion cry.gif

Dear Sifus, i need recommendations for new laptop

1. Preferred Brand - Mainstream brands
2. Budget - RM3500 +-500
3. Usage - web browsing, movies, casual gaming, office work, music
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - 15"

My priority is screen quality (i like vivid, true white colours), sleek design and quietness.

Currently looking at Z50 / Flex 2 15, but sceptical about the screen quality. Any better options considering i have a lil more budget?

Thanks!
