I just graduated from IT and work as an programmar for about 2 months. After this 2 months, i found
myself really dont have great interest in programming. Everytime a new assignment assign to
me, i will be very nervous of cant' finishing the job, i will even cry sometimes
when programming. Although at last i can complete all the job,
but i found myself unhappy everyday......
Is it every programmar have the same feeling as me? or is it i really not suitable to be
a programmar?
But wat else can i do if i dont be a programmar? Even if i want to apply for the admin
job also tough, coz i not major in Management.

Need some advice pls....Thank you.... icon_question.gif

1) I think you give yourself too little time to land a verdict. 2 months is too short, I can say. Furthermore, as you mentioned, you finished your tasks at the end of the day.

2) Besides programming, what do you think you are capable of? Networking? Web developer? What do you favour the most right now?

3) It is not necessary to major in Management to apply for admin jobs. Look for more job adverts. Some companies require a basic degree only.

I suggest you quit, I am a programmer, for at least 5 years already. I love programming, its my interest, thats why I am still a programmer and still able to enjoy my work.

I seen many ppl like you who work as a programmer just because they need a job, need to earn a living. Most of them unable to perform what others expected, those who able to survive are mostly those who has interest in programming, they love thinking, enjoy the moment solving a bug, and happy when learning new things. Some of them who do not have interest might still able to get the skill learned, but in the hard way, they force themself to accept the fact, but I can see they are suffering. To me, a good job(you like) is another part of your life, perhaps its 20-25% of your entire life, do you want to spend so much of your life time doing something that would make you cry ? Its even worst compare to marry someone that you dont like.

Spend some time, ask yourself, what is your interest ? Are there anything that you know which is better than most ppl ? What do you want to do with that 20-25% of your life ? Dude, its 20-25% of your entire life, please spend enough time think and ask yourself, dont just do it blindly and regret after years working and no longer has the chance to change. Maybe you earn lesser working job that you like, but I can assure you, you can do it better because you like it.

Thats my suggestion, but its your life, and its your decision to make.

I'm a programmer too and I love being one. Personally the feeling after solving a tough bug or rewriting a better logic is 2nd to none.

Breathe, whenever you feel tensed. When your mind is clouded with frustration and anxiety, you will find it hard to focus and think of a solution.

That's the life of being a programmer. Thinking, and coming out with better solutions for a problem. And also a determined mind. Never give up

If you prefer routine work, then kc00 is right to suggest helpdesk/support. But not much opportunity for career advancements though.

I've been a programmer for many years (since college), but now more towards high level solutions architect / design work. Once in a blue moon, I would still indulge in some programming... perhaps come out with nicey nicey widgets and tools for my work...

There are so many avenues that you can venture if you do not find yourself loving programming. U need to be very clear what u want of course.

Which brings us back to the question: Why choose IT in the first place?

to tell the truth.. i don't like programming in my college
why i choose programming? i also don't know.. mayb no other things to study
from the second year of my college, i start to get fed up..
ends up get a degree.. found a programmer position
then work for the first few months.. my head is keeping on thinking about the barcode, sales no (mind i'm doing POS system)
at work, i don't know how to do
but luckily, my manager is a nice person. so did my senior..
they are willing to teach..

and most important, set urself a daily goal..
write down what u need to do today
which part of the program u need to finish
then work for it.. think of the logic.. ask ur senior is it ok to do like this.
then do step by step.

and now, i don't hate programming anymore.. i found it enjoyable.. and i have the success feeling whenever i done my project biggrin.gif
but i don't like sticking to a same project after few months.. that i really get fed up of..

Maybe can try to be apps support/ analysis, not involve much in writing programming but still can learn the logic and troubleshoot the programming bugs while supporting it. Sometime willing to know the business logic for the company also will be advantages so that you can change to other line in ur company Or earn 2 year experience and then learn MBA, then you can work more to Admin site

i'm a programmer too but my programming into PC base but machine base. this is my first job after i graduate.
at the first month, once i faced the problem or bug, i will feel very panic and tension. trying to think solution best way to avoid the accident happen and bebug. but after 2 or 3 project i had handle, everything just work fine. i won't panic and tension so much. i often try my very best to debug and program all the machine although it tough to do it. also in my programming field, i can learn many new thing. that is very fun.
by the way, i just work only 8 month in my company.

try to do few project and ask to your senior in case you had found problem that you can't solve. Maybe you will like to do programming after you had learn how to do it.
