You cannot choose you working environment, the task being assigned, who is your boss etc... (unless you change company), but you can definitely choose your attitude

About the dress code, I don't like wearing formal either. And lucky enough I can wear casual in company whenever I want. But when I'm at customers site, I'll have to wear formal, and I've no problem with it... I look smart in either way

Dress code depends on nature of work/company policies and what not. But usually for office workers it's formal as far as first day is concerned.

It's not so hard to
- Ask
- Look around in the office to see how people wear during your interview or whatever visit
