if ure talking about coporates then rest assured that u don't really have to bring alot of tbings unless its a neccesity.Of course this depends largely on your jobscope.Big companies provide u pc,stationary, paper, basically everything. For me,if u wanted to bring something to office, bring it day by day...piece by piece...one by one..

lets say a mug for the tea lady to serve drinks?silly but important.

u don't wanna share a glass that's been used by 600 employees right?

and urm,if ure those people who dresses up for work.A white and a black solid shirt is a must for everyman. On the first day,its best to stay with comfortable colours and a striped or pattern tie.Like a white shirt with a pinstiped brown tie?

Don't wear something that goes beyond your salary, the same goes for ur transport.Problems might arise later in ur career.Stay humble but confident.

Sometimes, you need to be "social" in order to survive in the company. Just wear a "mask" for it ... biggrin.gif

I'm really trying. I just feel I'm talking to the wall.
They don't want to answer what I ask or enquire.
Talk sense, talk nut - equal same treatment.

doh.gif pressure.. I don't know how to wear mask.
Sometimes I get my work done, "I just feel like shout out YES!"
but the atmosphere make me so drawn in the office. >.<

It's sad that the employees in your company adopt such cold nature in work. Very discouraging air floating around, if you ask me.

So it isn't so much about you being anti-social, but more on the attitude of your fellow colleagues. Try mingling closely with your immediate team/department members for a start. If you still get the same cold shoulder treatment, then I have to comment that something is awfully wrong with the environment there. Perhaps bad feng shui.

And actually, I really think it helps a lot if someone can create a possitive feeling around in the office. In my opinion, nothing is more pleasant than hearing a shout of joy/satisfaction upon successfully completing one's task/job. I always do encourage my team to express their feelings, be it angry, frustration or delightfulness.

But then again, looks like your office culture seems like plain melancholy. Sad indeed. I guess the office walls are painted in the colour of sheer dullness and gloomy grey.

You have my sympathy. If u feel ure ditched away. Most probably because ppl there care nothing less other than their own work. These people are normally very self centered and selfish.Do urself a favour. They're giving u cold shoulder even ure trying to talk.So just shut up.Sounds rude, but true.If u have nothing better to say then better not talk so much.Make sure u don't have any loopholes and don't get ur back stabbed. If u make any mistakes,be the first to admit it and let ur superior know before others notice u and have a shot at you.U gotta be careful with these kinda people.

I'm so proud that you guys are here to listen to my sad stories..
sunbeams "Try mingling closely with your immediate team/department members for a start", this is true. I'm trying my best.

I'm happy today there is some smile face and happy gesture in our communication. They are my important team, soon I believe I gotta be with them for discussion on big or small project coming. Team gotta be strong, no matter what. I'm trying.. I hope it helps.

Just feel happy to see the laughter and joy of frust and happy and stupidness of mistake I did and their expression. This is real face expression instead of hidden,.. which lead me to deadness.

darrecw, your message is really true. I know everyone is not as helpful, generous, not selfish people. I really agree with you,.. if nothing, better not to talk much. Never act smart, never bullshit much. I did my first admition about my fault of learning slow to my head.

To be honest at the first time is just like do the right thing at the first time allow people to believe you. Being humble is good to allows people love teaching you. I'm really afraid to have colleagues that is greedy, selfish, and black hearted that wanna curse and destroy me in future.

Hope and pray hard I can't handle that situation when its comes, but of course I don't want it to be happen. I prefer harmony. ^^

I'm glad to hear that things are finally working out between you and your team. Keep it up.

In any organisation, there are bound to be individuals who are selfish and vice versa. You can choose who to mingle with. Somehow, you will notice that the selfish ones tend to stick in a clan, while the generous ones swarm in another clique.

Do not, in anyway though, show prejudice to anyone in your organisation, especially those that you personally placed on your own blacklist. Even if you can't see eye to eye with each other, you're all under one roof, working together for the betterment of the organisation. But that doesn't mean you have to put on a fake mask. Just be frank and sincere.

A note about being humble. If you strongly feel that your team mate / superior may be wrong at statements/facts/idea/suggestions, don't feel obliged to keep quiet, simply because you are a newbie. Confidence counts, and if you feel a need to say something, say it out (provided you have enough facts and knowledge to do so).

Being a yes-man may put you on good books for a short while, but makes you a slave for eternity.

Its good to hear that from you that the situation is improving. What i'm going to say might sound negative (No choice, sunbeam already said everything i wanted to say). But u have to keep this in mind, u can trust ur friends,u can trust anyone but not your colleagues.Always always do not let people know anything that can affect ur reputation.Own business, family business, got girlfriend anot, where u work last time.People can be real fake at times.I encountered the same case,i've complained to manager. This girl she changed dramatically.Until now i still don't know whether she's changing for real or its the manager's order.I've heard she's been called in manager's room cause of this case.

Like sunbeam said earlier, being humble is important. But humble with confidence. When u feel u really need to speak, the idea comes out from the heart.Ur own heart and instinct tells u to speak, just go for it.I did something that managed to grab the big shots of my company.I'm just a small admin post. But there's this orientation thing in my company,i won the contest was asked to tell why.i impressed 2 directors and 2 managers. When they asked which dept i'm from. They're suprised with that. One of em say,"Ure young,u have high dreams.Do not give up and u'll be where u want some day."

Sounds like drama huh? its true le..Wish u luck anyway smile.gif
