If you decide to extend the base height of your casing by 1 inch (add 1-inch bolts to the bottom before wrapping up the sides), what are you gonna do with that space down there? Ran out of idea, guys. Help.

- move switches and front USB/headphone jack wiring down there?
- intake fans? (dust machine doh.gif )

I got no idea at all with what im planning for the mean time. doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif *headache*

Are you talking about raising the bottom of your casing by 1 inch (so the casing is standing about 1 inch higher off the floor than before)?

I've done something like that for several of my modified casings, where I added "feet" by either using wood blocks or acrylic blocks (with LED lighting). This raised the bottom of the casing off the floor/table by about 1 inch, which helps in the intake of air (I also modified the casings to intake air from the bottom). To minimize dust intake, I use air filters.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add, aside from the CCFLs that the posters above have mentioned, you can also add LED lighting or EL cable for the so-called UFO-mod (as seen in the Macro Black case mod on bit-net or some other website some years back).

If the intake of the fan is too close to the floor/table, you will not be able to get much airflow out of the fan, and maybe even increased noise (not sure on this) due to air turbulence from the constricted air flow.

My preference has been to use 120mm slow-speed fans to keep noise down while maintaining decent airflow. Unless it's for a high performance rig with hot GPU. In which case I would use a more powerful fan (hooked up to a fan controller), and possibly even air ducting.
