Guys,
Currently I'm using canon 450D, Tamron 2.8 17-50mm with a normal lowgrade Nissin flash. You see my 450D started to give me problem and I considering have it upgrade. Do you any suggestion? the price of the 70D looks very attractive to me. But some people just tell me to get a 7D Mk II. What do you think?? Please advise. |

QUOTE(g88 @ Dec 3 2014, 12:43 PM) All come to budget and your 'wants' . If you do alot sports photography, probably 7D2 is good for you...else i don't see why 70D isn't a good body. 7D2 is attractive as it's a full frame. But have to sale off current lens. And my SD card all canot use oledi.I'm thinking of upgrade but just not sure how far should I go. The price differences is not so huge also. Got to think about it carefully. |

QUOTE(g88 @ Dec 3 2014, 04:51 PM) QUOTE(goldfries @ Dec 3 2014, 09:25 PM) 7D2 - only get it if you really need those super duper AF, weather seal and multi card. If not then 70D serves the purpose at around half the price. QUOTE(mingyuyu @ Dec 3 2014, 10:03 PM) quite sure the 7D2 is A LOT more expensive than the 70D (around 2x the price as goldfries stated), and has some features that most people wont even need anyways so the 70D would be a more logical choice unless you needed those powerful features. haha did he submit any complaints or so afterwards? QUOTE(vankodoq @ Dec 3 2014, 11:17 PM) As the sifus have said, it's all boils down to your budget and needs. I'm currently using 600D and looking into "upgrading" to 70D. 7D Mk.II has awesome spec but I think 70D will suit me better with its articulated LCD and price tag. Thanks. Appreciate your advise. |

QUOTE(munak991 @ Jan 6 2015, 10:05 PM) Question guys... Wow. What softbox u using? Interested to get one also. Expensive??I just bought 1 unit of flash and manage grab my self soft box ^^( thx goldfries your recommndation) So right now is 1 430EXii and 1 yong nuo 560mkiv + 2 soft box need to learn flash fast! in Manual flash configuration, what does 1/1, 1/16, 1/32, 1/64 means? 1/1 highest? and also , the 430 Exii output is lower than 560mkiv how should i manage the balance of light? place further? adjust the 1/32-> 1/64? Increase 430Exii +0.3/0.7 stop? And 1 last thing im a bit confuse in exposure... Look at these few photo Why the exposure doesn't increase as drastic as when not using flash?? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Seriously (No offence) I think you have to exercise more first to get more understanding of light first before you jump into flash else you will have alots of confusion and thats gets u no where. To answer your questions with my broken english, without flash/sufficient lighting, 3Element have to compromise each other depends on the situation you taking the picture. 3Element is ISO(sensor sensitivity), Aperture, and Shutter. So let's see which you can sacrifice. Like u taking photo in a dark place so you have no choice to sacrifice ISO loh. For your picture, I can see that you maybe in Shutter speed(TV) Mode where your camera is so smart to determine if your picture is dark or not. But because of sensor may be wrong sometimes, that's where the +/-Ex comes in. So, without flash, you possible might need to sacrifice some of these element. But since photography is about understanding capturing of lights so light is the important medium. So, here comes the flash and everything is settled. That's why you can use Manual and set whatever value you want. Since the flash is smart enough to determine the darkness and settings you choose, it flashes just enough lighting for you to capture a good picture (If you using TTL). That's why I still salute those old time photographer (expecially using film age). You don't have TTL, you don't have Tv /AV mode. And worst of all, you whole day photography trip result you will only know the next day after you develop the film. Really two thumbs up. Used sometime to write this due to my poor english so hope can understand what I just wrote and do correct me if I'm wrong. This post has been edited by knight: Jan 7 2015, 12:30 AM |

QUOTE(goldfries @ Jan 7 2015, 02:00 AM) not really. stepping into flash earlier gives more learning opportunity. U have to point also. But too fast will make confusing only. But too slow (like me) leave me learn alot slower.in fact many people don't step in soon enough! By the way, like to ask this question some time oledi. I'm currently still using my 450D with my Tamron 2.5F 17-50 and thinking on a body upgrade. My likes on photography should be portraits and Landscape (Seldom required fast fps). What do you think suits me? Very often I felt I've been knocking the ceiling of the ISO of my 450D which is the disadvantage. |

QUOTE(goldfries @ Jan 9 2015, 01:27 AM) stick with 450D, ISO 200 - 400 range. Get your techniques and composition correct first, train your eye to see what is good landscape. It's old oledi. And I'm thinking for a better sensor as it's not in every dark situation you use a flash. Is 70D a good buy? Or 7D? |

Guys, ask you simple question. Would you go for older 6D (Full frame) over new 70D (APSC)??
My current gear I have is Tamron 2.8F 17-50mm, 50mm 1.8, and a Nissin Flash. |

QUOTE(kayFX @ May 21 2015, 02:12 PM) if you go full frame that tamron cannot be use though.. it for EF-S mount.. but your 50mm 1.8 still can be use cause its a EF mount.. to save can go for 70D.. to venture FF the tamron has to go.. my point of view regarding your current gear.. The mount is different? So I can't actually fit my Tamron on this 6D?? I'm thinking of full frame and this 1 using SD somemore so I can still use my old 1 on it. |

Wow.. Thanks guys. I just free only and saw so many replies. So, why I want to change my gear ah. Too old loh.some say can't some say yes due to 3rd party lens doesn't follow the EF-S design as they have no obligation to comply canon identification for lens.. the mount construction they follow the EF mount which logically you can mount it on canon FF body.. the mount itself even it say for APS-C (Di II series) they didn't construct it like EF-S which protrude a bit inside the body which make it impossible to mount and if can it will damage the mirror because not enough clearance.. that is why canon have the EF-S marking and different mount alignment.. below is some example of lens meant for crop body (3rd party) mount on a full frame.. in this example a Sigma 10-20.. nasty vignette (i wouldn't even call this vignette, more like someone put a frame [attachmentid=4456225] my 450D which been using like 8years always hit the ceiling oledi. ISO max only 1600. Even 800 really the noise level can't really compare with even my phone oledi. Well, I actually eying on the 70D but I just wonder is it good to just pour in another few thousand for a older FF. 7D MKII I heard they very good with the FPS. But I'm not into sports always. And it's far more expensive if compare to 70D. I can put extra few thousand but not that much lah. Well, if my current tamron can't fit on FF then I have to spend more for the lens. What do you think? Ps: and how much u think my tamron can sell as second hand?. Mine is with no VC. This post has been edited by knight: May 23 2015, 12:57 AM |

QUOTE(kayFX @ May 23 2015, 03:46 AM) the tamron non VC version can sell for RM500 last i remember.. if you go for 70D you no need to sell it.. i assume you are looking for a used 5D mk ii is it? the choice is yours.. I'm thinking of 6D which is old. But new set. But too bad lah. Can't use back Tamron lens.QUOTE(mingyuyu @ May 23 2015, 01:53 PM) then ask yourself. Like this I think the money factor really can change my decision oledi. Dun 1 spend more on lens. And old tamron only RM500 . OMG. So poor the second hand price. Thanks guys. I think I know the answer oledi. 70D. Any Idea any new body coming out to replace 70D??70D - better frame rate, autofocus, lighter, flippable screen, wifi, can use your current lens, cheaper and it's new. 5D ii - better high ISO (maybe one stop or so i am not sure), more bokeh, better build, require new lens and more money. which one would you choose? |

QUOTE(Azzat.x @ Jul 25 2015, 01:03 AM) just wondering if EOS 450D is still a good camera? i'll be going for a hiking trip in nepal this coming september. thinking of getting a new camera but then my brother passed his camera to me. not a DSLR user previously so i dont know whats the capability of this camera. learning bits by bits now. is it a good camera or should i upgrade it? .....or should i just stick with my iphone 6? Wow.450D. It's a good camera but it's very old oledi and since u have a new camera phone and still new to 450D, I thin best if u just bring ur phone instead. U won't get a good picture end up wasted ur effort on bringing such heavy gadget to Nepal. Nepal still safe to go?? |

QUOTE(Azzat.x @ Jul 27 2015, 05:28 PM) thanks man, for sure will do. i just did some field test on the camera last weekend. any advice on landscape photography i.e settings etc. is it good to have a hoya UV filter on? I'm also using a 450D with a Tamron 2.8F 17-50. For Landscape in bright day light U set ur ISO to Auto should not be a problem, and turn to AV mode with F7-F9 should be not a problem without tripod. If evening, u may experience slow shuttle and u may need to push ur ISO to ISO800 which is noisy. Sometime Auto can push it to 800 but sometimes no. But for sure Auto will not set ur ISO to 1600. If ISO800 still slow shuttle then u may need to ISO1600 which is not so good unless u bring a tripod. |

Anyone tried before buying SLR body in Lazada? Is it worth and is it original warranty from Canon? There mentioned is 100% Genuine product. It's cheap there. Should I try??
