I haven't bought more expensive stuff in Lazada and I always doubt it if something expensive (like SLR body) is sold at a much cheaper price there. Try contacting the seller and ask for detail if you really want it. Shashinki is usually more expensive compared to Lazada, but it seems that it's trusted. A friend of mine always suggests to buy there. I bought my 70D body (used) from KLDSLR.com tho. tongue.gif
Hmm. Are you using the 18-135mm IS STM? Strange, I tried it with my 70D and the AF is alright. I mean, it's not as fast as my 24-105mm, but it's quite nice. hmm.gif

Guys, I had a question like to ask. I want to know how u guys manage this when u travel with your camera. It's about the storage for your photo taken. Do you guys normally bring a laptop every time you travel or just bought a big bunch of SD/CF cards?

For me, I always bringing my laptop to copy everything to my laptop daily. But I find it troublesome sometimes to keep bringing laptop with me every time I travel. It takes an amount of luggage space honestly.

How bout you?

Yeah I'll bring a bunch of SD cards for travel.  I also have a SD card 2 mini pouch/wallet.  One for empty and one for used.

I find SD cards getting cheaper and cheaper so yeah I do end up buying more.  I mean Class 10 cards (30mb/s) are now cheap and Class U3 cards are now more being pushed for 4K videos.

I really don't find much harm buying more SD cards.  Everyone has a computer that has SD reader.  So you can use these cards instead of USB thumb drives.  You'll always find use for them.  My old class 4 SD cards are used to pass photos and files to friends to take home.  They'll give it back to me few days later and I'm not even worried about them losing those old class 4 cards.

Anyways I don't delete everything on the SD card right away after transferring to a computer (keep the files in there as back up).  Only after I finish edits, uploaded, and also backed up on an external drive.  Then I clean the card up.

So you never bring laptops when you travel? I wonder how many quantity you brought when you travel for 10days?

Must be surprising alot. @@

You can find 64GB and 128GB sd cards for very reasonable price.
Uhs 1, class 10 128GB for less than 80usd.

QUOTE(vankodoq @ Sep 7 2015, 09:20 AM)
I also only bring several SDHC cards with me. If somehow during my travel all of my SDHC cards are full, I usually just buy another one. Though this only happened once and that was because I forgot to backup my photos to my laptop after the last trip. sweat.gif

QUOTE(Rice_Owl84 @ Sep 7 2015, 01:31 PM)
Unless i plan to edit during my travel.  Which most likely no.  Having both camera and laptop in your back pack is heavy!  And i would rather take my time editing at home.

I don't really shoot thay many photos when i travel.  But lets say you shoot 150 photos a day.  So 10 days thats 1500 photos total.  A 64gb card can get 1900+ 20.2mp raw photos.  Pretty much you can guess how much memory you would use.  But I'm the type that will bring more than i need anyways.
*
Thanks. But It's expensive for high capacity as we are using Class10 SD Card. My up coming trip last 10days. My old camera took me nearly 8GB per day(everyday have to backup using laptop) meaning I required 80GB if the Raw file is same for my new camera 70D which I just bought. Guess I had to buy also no matter what.

Ask you guys few question. Hope can help me out. Thanks.

1. If I required 80GB, would you buy straight 128GB or multiple 64 or 32 GB? Price wise moreless.
2. What brand SD card would you recommend? I'm thinking of Sandisk Ultra or Samsung Evo. Any experience on these card? I have some bad experience with Transend from my old camera.

Personally, I have like one 32GB, a couple of 16GBs, and a couple of 8GBs. I simply think that if I only have one very large capacity card and it's lost or faulty, then all of my photo will be lost. hmm.gif

Most of my cards are Sandisk. I have one 8GB Class 10 Transcend tho. That one's not really good when taking video. tongue.gif
*
Thanks for the advise. I think I might just buy multiple 32GB first. Not enough then only I go buy in Taiwan. Hopefully can warranty in Malaysia if got problem.

My Transcend Class10 8Gb also having issues. Sometimes can detect and sometime canot detect. I thought it was my camera problem until I slot it into my laptop.Tried to clean the contact but no luck.

Class 10 is the basic standard these days. Anything lower is really horrible to use.

I will go with multiple of 64 and 32.
Having too many smaller sized cards would mean more time switching and keeping track.
Sd cards can get corrupted so I wouldn't keep it all in basket. (128)

Price wise, 2 x 32GB cards cost slightly more than 1 64GB card. I've been using Sandisk.
*
I'm thinking just get Class10 which support 40Mb/s type. It's true that's why I ask coz I lack of confidence. Even when I buy HDD also never buy the highest common in market. Like now selling 2TB in market but I will jsut get 1 TB instead. Just no confident. Data ler.

Mind if I ask you something again. Sandisk Ultra got two types (MicroSD and SD) but Samsung looks good but it's only MicroSD with an adaptor.

I can see MicroSD seems cheaper which I don't know why. Is it recommend to use Micro SD with an adaptor?

I'm eager to try Samsung.

I have not tested this out recently.
The last time I tested it out, it was slower but that's because the microsd card itself is slower.

If they're the same speed, it shouldn't matter.

Personally though I've a tendency to prefer Sandisk. They have not failed me yet. Plus microsd, although versatile; they're very easy to lose (unless you keep them glued to their adapter)
*
I just tried and I after that realized I was so stupid to keep looking at the Reading speed. As long it's a Class10 is enough coz of the writing speed is 10MB/s. However, UHSI card is better coz of it's fast buffer to enabled us to catch more photo in continues shots. Yah, it's above than 10Mb/s also.

Test for adapter, I testing using a new 8GB SD Vs 8GB MicroSD(With adapter). Both writing speed is the same which is around 10MB/s. For reading speed also more or less but I do not know what is the reading speed of my MicroSD. I bought sometime ago already. So meaning adapter should not an issue since the writing speed seems normal 10Mb/s.

Here I found a conclusion for me who is using SD for my SLR. Just get a UHSI type or Class10 above with high writing speed. Forget about the reading speed coz not important in our case unless you running a very very rush event. (by then you must have using an slr with a CF). MicroSD with adapter is not an issue. Just the conviniences dependent on people. For me will prefer SD coz MicroSD can easily drop from it's adapter.

Just to share some of my finding. Very happy to learn from you guys and share my findings also after learning.

I've used MicroSD cards and they don't really feel slower (Maybe there is a 5-10% speed loss through the adapter, I'm not sure).  If its cheaper it probably because suppliers feel more confident getting them in bulk.  MicroSD cards can also be used in mobile phones, tablets, go pros, audio recorders.
*
Yah. It's true. I can't really see it also. But now it feels like it's hard to get an SD card in shop. If got also selling quite expensive. Any Idea?

That's not what I've experienced tho. I have this 8GB SD card that when I use for recording video, sometimes it abruptly stopped even when there's still enough space to store more than 10 minutes of video. This card I don't know the write/read speed as it's not written. But the abrupt stop never happens with my other SD cards with > 40 MBps. Of course, there's always a chance that the problematic SD card has become faulty. hmm.gif
*
Maybe the writing speed is less. I youtube one video saying the difference btw UHS and Class10. From that video, they do continues shooting for 5sec like that, USH can continue shoot while Class10 getting slow after awhile. What's the trigger? I think it's the SD write speed too slow which cause by the bus. Something like that. So, maybe ur 40Mbps one have highier writing speed. Why not test out and let us know here.

Well. I believe class 10 and UHS1 or UHS 3 is quite misleading as they only indicate the mininum speed. Almost every card is faster than 10MB/s these days. Best to get the read write speed from the card itself.

Card reader speed is also important. Sandisk usb3 seems to be OK for me. Btw, its MBps not mbps. Bits will be too slow.

I personally feel sandisk lives up more the their read and write  speeds compared to other brands for sequential read/write...

SanDisk is one of the founding company for SD Card. SD Association formed by few company. Now I wonder does SD Means SanDisk?? Hehehe. Curious.

Where is the best place to get SD Card(Not MicroSD)?? I keep searching and if the shop selling, they sell so expensive. 32GB Class10 for RM120 is which outrageous. Goshh...Mind to share where you bought it from?

Guys, I just find that my LR3 can't read RAW files from my 70D. How you guys normally do? You convert to DNG? Is DNG better than RAW?? Share your oppinion. I tried LR5 but I do not like it as there is not Brightness that I always use.

Anyone who used to use the Canon 450D and jumped to 70D? Looking to upgrade mainly due to the 450D's poor ISO noise levels which can be easily detected at 800, was wondering how the 70D's noise level is with ISO at higher settings?
*
Reporting. I had been using 450D for 7years not since 2008 and just hop to 70D. You talking about noise? If you are taking RAW, there's still noise. Just less abit. But honestly speaking if you take Jpeg is very nice but I seldom wan to do Jpeg. Incase you need Jpeg, you can anytime import directly out to your smartphone via Wifi to show picture to your friend or post facebook. So convienient.

But good thing of changing 70D is you no longer will hit my old 450D 1600ISO again. That's what I like. You really can consider 70D. I was thinking about it for a year before buying. A good buy. If you interested, I can share you the price from my survey from different shop. (I'm not seller yah)

What?? Only less a bit?? I avoid 1600 with the 450D as I found the noise too unbearable. Max I go 800, and that's only if I can't help it lol.
I don't really care much for the other features like wifi/touchscreen though.
If the noise is only less a bit then that's a deal breaker for me..

Sure! Can let me know the prices for the body alone and body with the 18-135mm  STM lens?
*
I know, I always give up my 450D when it's dark. Under the shade forced me to use 800ISO which the noise is easily noticable. However, using 70D also u can see noise level quite high in RAW format but lesser than 450D. Maybe this Thursday when I'm free I will take the two camera and test and post it here. Since I'm at home, minimum sure will be 800ISO. So you can see what I mean. If u took in JPEG sure u will love it. The WB, noise and colour are whole new level compare to 450D.

Wifi is something for your convieniences. (At least for me). Expecially that I always take raw file and suddenly want to post photo for my friend, I can just grab a JPEG out from RAW using the wifi in this camera. You will know what I say if you buy in future. Well, even if you dun buy 70D, other SLR sure better than our old 450D lah.

I only ask for body without lens. So far the best deal I saw is in Amcorp mall. I was too late to bought it in Bo Eng which is relatively cheap also.

See below. Also when u ask for price, better ask if it's included GST oledi or not. Price may be different now. Just reference. From what I find is DC Procam in Amcorp is cheapest and inclusive of GST.

Harvey Norman RM3299
Shangrila RM3400
Shashinki RM3,286
IP Mart RM2998
KLDSLR RM3240 (Free Battery and 16GB SD)
11street RM2788
Boeing Rm3100 with 8gb sd Class10 include GST.
Rm2900 include GST DC procam.

I take both raw and jpegs, but usually raw if i'm planning to do some post editing. Looks like 6D would be the only significant upgrade for noise levels in raw format sad.gif
Did you check the price in J-One at Amcorp?
*
Nope. I din know there's two camerashop. After I bought mine only I saw there's a shop there selling so just ask the price of it. But it's too late for me. Haha.

Correction. Noise level improved but still u can see noises in ISO800. Just less. Anyway, since u normally use Jpeg, I cans say the NR is very good compared to 450D.
