QUOTE(LilTmac @ Aug 19 2006, 11:04 PM) I just wonder, cos i'm thinking to tone my muscle and i really wonder, shud i do more reps or sets more? before u tone ur muscle, u must have good amount of muscle mass first. if u don't have muscle, then u should do lower reps with heavy weight. common belief is that higher reps with lighter weight is good for toning up muscle. however every individual is different, it may not work for u. so i think the best way is to experience urself. see how ur body response to the workout... copied from the book "Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle" Strength/Power 1 - 5 reps Hypertrophy (size) & some strength 6 - 12 reps Local endurance/ little size 12-20 reps Abs & Calves 10-25 reps regarding sets, general rule is 3 sets per exercise (not including the warm up sets). BFFM set guidelines Advanced: Large muscle groups: 9 -12 sets per body part Small muscle groups: 6 - 9 sets per body part Intermediate: Large muscle groups: 6 - 8 sets per body part Small muscle groups: 5 - 6 sets per body part This post has been edited by T+1: Aug 20 2006, 12:40 AM |

i had got tried before more set and more reps. But the only problem is, which weight you should stick to?
It is really weird as i did it on push up, 35repsx6 and then 20repsx10. My chest muscle is like kind of toning up but the tricep and shoulder is getting bigger and more solid. But it require you to do it from 3 times per week and the reps and sets are keep on increasing until the stage where you will need to push 400 times. |
