Hello everyone out there.. I think i'll start by self-introducing before seeking for any advises.. I'm right now... a 20 years old boy who usually plays computer games, sleep , go to college, meet up with friends and sleep again... I can eat/don't eat whenever I want.. sometimes when I sleep really late.. then I would miss like 1/2 meals... and I didn't know it mattered at all haha... but now I want to be strong.. I really feel that I'm weak

Ever since young I've been identified as a weak boy.. Friends often tell me that I look really soft like a jellyfish... I am tall but I am skinny.. at the height of 180cm i'm only 60kg... yes that's underweight... I don't go for sports.... only table tennis sometimes... when I play basketball.. I can only stay in the court for 10 minutes then I'd be exhausted already... I stopped sports since I was 9 because I had ashma(forgot how to spell it, a kind of sickness that makes u hard to breath)... not only that reason.. I was too lazy to move... I can sit in front of the computer whole day eating only once.. but now.. I want to change myself... so I really need some advice.... about what I should do or what I should not do... I want to build some muscles.. I want to look stronger... the first thing came into my mind is to go to gyms.. I don't know if thats the right thing... so everyone out there.. advice please your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Condition of myself: Feel sleepy often( think that's caused by masturbathing once/twice a day) is that too much? , Feel dizzy sometimes when I am at home doing nothing/ when I play basketball.

you have all the answers to your problems yet you still post to ask for advices to justify for your poor habits. your main problems are that of procrastinating and self negligence.

it will be tough for u to do sports in sudden but bit by bit u can catch up. ashtma can be cured or reduced if exercise frequent but controled

skinny doesn't mean weak. sleep is very important. i think we all can eat like wadever we want at this age. dun think masturbate affect so much.

10 mins b4 exhausted is ok la.. i think i can stand 2 or 3 more mins den u onli , n u can continue after a lil rest

start exercising, start with light ones, until you progress to heavy ones. No other way.

gyms are good because you can tweak your intensity but they can be expensive and a waste of time/money if you dont go often or have guidance/proper program.

well start exercising, people with asthma can still exercise theres are medications with which you can control your asthma.

eat full meals, dont skip any of them. appetite or no appetite you must eat, skipping meals maybe the reason why you're feeling sleepy and have no appetite.

stop fapping 1-2 times everyday, control yourself! you're not some horny monkey that has to go hump everything you see are you?

IMO jacking doesn't affect one's health. You could go for runs around ur neighbourhood, take it slow at first. Maybe start off with walking 1-2 km everyday before dinner so you'll have the appetite to eat, then when you get used to it already, go for a light jog, then run 5km or so, just increase the pace as you see fit.

my advice is to take up swimming.... yes swimming... do it at least once or twice a week... itll help u with your asthma.

i have bronchitis (almost similar and can be more dangerous than asthma) and when i was swimming actively (once a week for 6 years) it didnt even bother me once.... now ive quit swimming and i get a rather bad attack roughly once a year....

best part about swimming is it tones ur muscles... opens up ur chest (good for asthma/ bronchitis) and u will never ever feel hot and sweaty thumbup.gif and its also not as strenous (how u spell it ah??) as other exercises...

if u dont have xs to a pool....then i suggest joining a club or sumthin... seriously...swimming is the way to go thumbup.gif

Swimming is a good idea. Generally just start doing activities that increases your heart rate (lifting weights doesnt really make ur heart pump that fast). You need to get the blood going round ur body which would make you get an appetite.

Whatever you do, don't overstress yourself. Take it slowly.

actually, it does if the person is doing it too frequently and that the person's body is weak.

Time to stop masturbating: your hands and feet feel cold constantly. If you continue your body will go into catabolic mode.

U don't look weak to me. I think u lose interest on other things other than computer games!!

If u r weak, u can not play the computer for whole day la, isn't it??
U just do not have the stamina bcause u hardly exercise!!

Anyway, 60 kg at the height of 180 cm. Though its slightly skinny, but is acceptable at the BMI of 18.5 .

About masturbate thing, 1 or 2 times a day is acceptable for teenager or young adults !! It won't kill u, but certainly will used a lot of ur energy. Anyway, try to take Zinc supplement!!

Ah, it just came into my mind that your room most probably has an air-cond rite? Heard some storys that air-cond isnt good for people with lung issues.
And air-cond makes you lazy.

lol....you answered your own questions. First off, there's NO shortcut to get strong. However, there is a silver lining to your ectomorph body. Tall and skinny, + a lot of training and FOOD = tall and muscular. You won't need to worry about getting fat. My condition was similar to yours, till i decided to go for martial arts.

Only way to get strong, is to train. You can either train yourself, or have somebody train you. The latter is good if you don't know how to start. You can either pop by the gym, or find a martial art/dance instructor, or find some friends for sports. You'll need self motivation for the gym, be able to tolerate a lot of PAIN for martial arts, and a good group of friends for sports. Either one will help build you up as long as you do it frequently enough. 2 or 3 times a week of intensive action works for me.

BTW, i also have asthma. Was hospitalized 6 times as a kid. It's not a real barrier to getting fit. Just takes you a little longer.

yes, it does hehe. However, I don't switch on the air con during day time. I'm just a lazy bum. I shall start training myself now.

Added on March 5, 2007, 6:21 amSorry for bumping this thread. I've changed my lifestyle after I made this thread. Anyway, I've decided to go for gym but I'm not sure if it's actually worth it because it costs about RM120 per month and the minimum period is 2 years. I'm afraid that I may quit half way. Can anyone here recommend me the best package which is suitable for me? I think I'm going to the True Fitness which is located in Sri Hartamas. I don't know if it's really worth it or I shall just keep myself doing sit-ups at home.
