icoca + haruka is the best deal u can get..if ur going to and back from kansai airport..icoca card can be used to travel between Kyoto - Nara and all other JR stations within Kansai..when i was there in november last year...there seem to be a notice in kyoto bus that they are gonna implement icoca for buses also..previously gotta use coin all the way..hope this info help

You are wrong leh. I haven't worked out on itinerary yet but now depending on the passes I will get to determine the places I wanna go. People choose places then buy passes, I'm the other way round.

Can you please guide me where to buy it? I see it's more convenient if I come from KIX but I'm not.   I will go to Osaka via Nozomi Shinkansen.
I tried Hyperdia but it doesn't show other slower Shinkansen (e.g. Hikari)? Or is it because the time I'll be traveling doesn't have that train?
I checked through the fares and noticed the price doesn't differ much between Nozomi or Hikari, I think I will just go for the fastest one for the sake of experience.

Guys, am going for 9 days trip in June 2015.
Initial plan is as per below:

2 nights at Nagoya - Mielparque Hotel Nagoya
1 night at Takayama - Okada Ryokan Warakutei
4 nights at Osaka - Hotel Monterey La Soeur Osaka
1 night at Nagoya - Hotel Wing International Nagoya

So far, these are the hotel choices. Anyone has better suggestion? We are going in a group of 3.
We plan to go Kyoto from Osaka, so will be get Kansai Thru Pass which covers 3 days for Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto.
Any other pass we should be getting?

For food, estimate about RM150-200 per day. Is this enough?
