That is Huawei style, I,m using ascend mate, the OTA only available until Emui 1.6, you have to download unicorn version which w/o gapps.. that you have to flash gapps yourself..They should at least release source code so people can built custom rom.
and about the custom rom... for mate series is a joke.....
