Hi guys, I just got a black X1 and stumbled upon this very informative thread! I have some questions and I know you pros can answer these. :-) Pardon my noobness, I'm quite new to these things.

1 How do you backup your orig rom version? My unit is 7D-501L V100R001C151B001, I can't find one downloadable via google for warranty purposes.

2 To update to KK B007 taiwan ver., does one need to update to B006 first or straight update to B007 will do?

3 Can one downgrade from KK B007 to B006 or JB 001 by just putting the desired ver. file to ext sd card then install it?

4 Are GAPPS and other non-system apps that are factory installed from JB orig. int'l. rom compatible with KK upgrade? Ex., via Titanium backup, probably from my 501L B001 to be restored to KK B007.

5 To enable dropdown softkey menu in KK, is there an alernate way aside from Activity Launcher as suggested by ttkyy post #682?

6 Does installing CWM create an issue when installing updates? Ex. Installing CWM in JB then updating to KK or vice versa. Or installing CWM in KK then updating to another or newer KK release.

Hi welcome. Where are you from?

I think there is no stock ROM from B001 or B002 available except for Western Europe B003.

I believe you can perform a root, flash CWM then make a backup ROM image.

If you read post 4 under Updating Your ROM Manually, you will find that Jeroen_NL says that downgrade is possible.

If you flash a new ROM version by the normal method, I think it will fail as it checks for a stock recovery before flashing.

Please keep your original stock recovery handy using Flashify.

Hi joytest, I'm situated in the Phils.

Kindly tell me if this procedure is flawless.

A. With stock rom version

1 Root phone
2 Install Flashify
3 Using Flashify
3.1 Backup current stock recovery img
3.2 Install CWM recovery img from post #4
4 Backup stock rom version using CWM recovery

B. To update to another rom ex. B001 to B007

Q. Do I need to do items 1 and 1.1 or just go straight to no. 2 below?

1 Open Flashify
1.1 Restore stock recovery img to replace CWM recovery img
2 Install updated rom via manual update from post #4.

I bought an X2 case for my X1 since I can't find an X1 case in my local area. From what I've noticed, there are a few external revisions based on X1 design.

- volume keys and power key are interchanged in location
- charging port is moved to the right

Overall, the fit is the same, I just had to remove small portions of the case.

They have cases locally for the X2 now?
*
Not in Malaysia though.

I saw 2 types of non-orig. X2 cases, one with 3-fold cover version, translucent back and one with S-view type cover for small analog clock that looks like the orig. X1 case but has more bezel/edge protection. Both have various cover color selections. Costs around RM 27 if converted.

I just happen to pass by these mobile accessory stalls lined up selling them.

I need your help sirs. icon_question.gif

I messed up my phone when I tried installing a new firmware with CWM already installed. Also messed up the root and can't root it again. mad.gif

So my phone has:
- No recovery mode on boot
- And when I plug the phone switched off to a usb charger or laptop, it automatically boots up twice to Kitkat (Boots to KK then reboots again to KK).

I have a copy of my original recovery image (I used Flashify before).

I was to follow Noobi3's Fastboot procedure but the download link is dead (Post #923): https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=70503511

Do you have a substitute link for downloading Fastboot that support our phone with a proper procedure for flashing image recovery?

I am new to using Fastboot so I have no idea how to proceed. cry.gif

Any fastboot command will work. Just download android sdk slim version n run it to install fastboot n adb commands
Since you have a backup of your stock recovery locate it at android/data/....flashify/backup
Copy the recovery file to folder where you had the fastboot commands

fastboot flash recovery "your stock recovery".img
*
Sir,
- I ran both adb.exe and fastboot.exe (in case needed)
- And copied the "Stock Recovery" file from Flashify then renamed it to "recovery.img" (added ".img" extension) and also tested "recovery" (no ".img" extension) but both won't flash to the phone. Pls. see attachments.

My phone also shows this when in Fastboot mode (your pic).

Looks like the Win 8.1 laptop can't identify the device. In normal use via usb connection like file transfers, there's no issue with identifying the device. Do I need to install additional driver/s? What do? rclxub.gif

How did you guys fix your GPS in your X1 with KitKat? Tips or links that work?

The new Taiwan B008 KitKat update initially has no GPS fix. My X1 is already rooted.

Edit:
Solved. I copied the gps.conf from X1 JellyBean rom of designated country where I am located.

Additional info:
Fastest root I used for Mediapad X1, automatically installs SuperSU http://mobilego.wondershare.com/

I confirm the ROM is not multi-languages as usual X1 ones. Only: "Jane, traditionnal Chinese, english"

My bad, I just reinstalled it again. Looks like English and Chinese only.

Have you tried installing it? Looks like there is no 'Hide Nav Bar' option using Activity Launcher app.

I am still using 7D-501L
Thanks to do many here who have shared their problems and solutions.

Recently, while waiting for the final version of Android 5.1.1 or marsh mellow, I've flashed my x1 to the latest rom from Taiwan, (B013 7D-501L). It is a nice rom.

Unfortunately, unlike the B017 Malaysian Rom, the LATEST Taiwan rom doesn't allow me to install xposed framework.

I'm wondering if the B011 7D-503L rom that has been popular, allows users to install xposed framework.

I find xposed framework useful because I can use
One handed mode module
Application settings module
Gesture navigation module.

Need some ideas about how to either install xposed into the B013 or should I reflash and convert it with a rom (B011?) if it is more compatible with xposed framework.

But it is also ashame to loose the latest B013 from Taiwan. Have anyone tried the B013? Love how the beautiful set of  wall papers of the lock screen keeps changing when the device goes to sleep.

Anyone here experienced both the B013 7D-501L and the B011 7D-501U (or another option if I remember - the Kang B011) and how compatible are they with xposed framework?

I did find the location for the local.prop in the B013 rom and there is a line

ro.config.hwtheme=2 ??? (What happens if I set it to 0? Will it allow me to install xposed framework?

In the case of the Malaysian rom (B017), by adding

ro.config.hw_shownavisettings=true

In the local.prop

I could get the navigation bar to have a hiding feature but it didn't work with the B013 rom.

I used Taiwan B008 with EMUI 2.x and some Xposed Modules work including Adblocker.

For Taiwan B013 with EMUI 3.0, I use full!screen and Immersive Mode. Both apps have pros and cons on EMUI 3.0. full!screen temporarily removes the wallpaper upon turning it on (bug), reboot retains the wallpaper. Immersive mode on the other hand only hides the navbar and prevents the keyboard to launch when the app is on.

I'm using B013 EMUI 3.0 and I like the Application Display Effect function (customizable DPI per app). Though I experience both mobile and wifi drops with this rom version compared to B008, maybe mine is an isolated case. Pressing Airplane mode solves it.

Have you checked for lockscreen wallpaper changer apps yet?

i don't know what or where is the app that is causing the lock-screen wallpapers to change.

I can't even find the folder where all the lovely wallpapers are located.

How did you manage to install xposed framework on B13 Taiwan. I tried several but the install buttons were grayed out. And there is a message saying something about not yet compatible ....

In B017 Malaysian rom, I could install xposed framework although not every module worked.

B017 was using EMUI 2.x. It appears that the higher the EMUI version is the more it prevents xposed framework from being installed or to run smoothly.

So, the hard decision is to go with emui 3 or downgrade ...

But, if i am not wrong, it seems that the Kang B011 custom rom with emui 3 is a bit more friendly to the xposed framework. But to install the Kang, we will have to convert 501L to 503L.

I do not know if anyone has compared the Kang B011 custom rom with the B013 Taiwan latest ROM. If anyone has experienced these 2 roms, it will be nice to have some feedback.

Xposed Framework on B013 also doesn't work in my phone.

Any idea how to increase the external speaker volume of X1? Can't find it via engineering mode.
