ur game is full chinese version of half chinese version?
i bought a half chinese version... that half of the conversation and game text are in Japanse.... i totally cant uunderstand on it... now giv up to play liao.,...

i dont even read the conversation
just, recruite -> morale boost -> nearby city -> conquered

hehe mine also half chinese half japanese.. but that's not a problem since mostly the japanese is used to describe the character.. but most commands are in chinese

Is it? because some bugs happened to my Chinese Star Windows XP version and it made the translation not fully complete. Well, I will access again right after installing another Chinese Star XP version.

But how's the game play? Previously I played San9 but missed out San10. Heard that the graphics is in 3D. So how is the battle mode? Do the Generals well equipped with many skills such as the ability changing the weather like what have been found in San9??

ROTK PC have in english language?

i used to play ROTK3 PS1 on pc using emulator and ROTK IX PS2...
but i like to play RTS game on PC using keyboard than joypad....and my PC's monitor is bigger than my gaming TV

The full Tra Chinese version from Taiwan is already out (ROTK11). A very challenging Game.

wanna ask you since you have finished the game. Do you really have to install Chinese Star XP version to view the chinese words? If your windows has the chinese language pack, will it be good enough?

Then, can you create your own heros, I mean typing the chinese word and make your own hero in San 11?

i didnt use any 3rd party software for the characters translation, Win XP own unicode pack is good enough to play the game~ but there are some bugs with the character display for the "Shortcut Icon Name". but i not sure you will face the problem or not

yes, there is complete Chinese Version of ROTK11, but its hard to find the original copy in Malaysia.

Hehe, even if you able to find the original selling in Malaysia, it won't come in cheap price....Last time i tried to ask my friend to buy this game from Taiwan, and my friend told me the price will be over 200 ringgit..

Anyone have any ideas when there might be a English edition (don't care whether original or not) for it? I'm only playing with the Ps2 English versions, and honestly RoTK XI seems REALLY attractive...

i love this game actually. One of the best game ever. But because i m banana i m limited to play a few series of it. Mostly from PS2 since KOEI stop making english version PC game for computer. (correct me if i m wrong)

yeah, unless someone volenteer to do the translatation and patch up the Japanese/Chinese version of it, like when they came out with and Japanese version patched with Chinese translation, there wont be a English version.

there are some hidden "building" on the map, i got 1 free "Bow" level up when i accidently found that place, i believe there are still somemore out there. but i just dont know what's the requirements to get those places out.

i complete in hardest mode without any tricks... usually using Liu Bei gang...

RTK7 & RTK8
as the game system change to focusing in single character type... so i created a super character... myself in game... to complete the china unification conquest... wuahahahahahaha

Well.. Latest i played is RTK IX ... i can't create char eventhough i installed NJ STar... Windows XP Language Pack... watever chinese program i also install liao.. i juz can't type the chinese name... dam sienz

i would not play those games under winxp... as i have a partition using the good old 98SE

why not try copy & paste method...
or... try install chinese star for winxp

chinese star works fine on previous series like san7 and 8
njstar can show the words properly

Actually RTK IX can be played if you wish to create special character by typing chinese word.

I have done that before by using Chinese Star in Windows ME. When you type the pinyin, you won't see what you are typing but when you hit enter, the particular word will pop out from the screen.

I'm using notepad to type in all the name first, then inside game -> switch tab and copy those chinese character and paste inside game ~~ It works !!

and I'm super duper ROTK fans ! from San3 -> San11 all play ! even something KOEI side product like 英杰专 or kong ming zhuan or watever zhuan, DW from 2 -> 5 , all played ~~

San11 I also got only half C half J version, damn !! but then still can understand lor... unless u really a banana, but then I check out the forum got some patch can make an English translation. I wonder ~

Oooh, RTK series - one of my favourite series ever!

Is RTK11 strategy-based like 1,2,3,4,9 or character-based like 7,8? I haven't seen it for sale here, but will probably have to search the net for it, or ask New Era if they can bring it in for me.

The last one I played was RTK9 (the last before that RTK4). Thankfully after so many years of Jin Yong Online I was already used to Chinese interfaces and Chinese input. I used Chinese Star XP to input my characters and they worked fine. However, I found that later versions of Chinese Star XP (like CS2006) did not work with many games (including Jin Yong Online), and so I have all these original CS boxes, but install from the same old CD over and over again.

I'm also looking for another copy of RTK9, but I can't find it. I can't even remember where I bought my first copy years ago...

Hope someone can translate it.. it would be cool to be able to play it again.

The Scholars of Shen Zhou are very knowledgeable about the game, and are even working on a Jap-English patch.

I got my Chinese version (with PUK) in Suntec City, Singapore and it cost me over $100 Sing.. quite expensive, but really worth it. It's a really good game. I'm playing Yuan Shao as usual, and Gongsun Zan is quite scary now - no more walking over everyone in Hebei. By the time I've conquered Hebei either Liu Bei or Cao Cao will have established a foothold in central China.

It's hard to say which is best - all the RTK games are so different. The strategies for IX will not work in XI - and the choice of which general is good and which is lousy also changes a lot now. My favourite tip - have one "Bai Chu" and one "Gui Men" general in the same team - then you can cast almost unlimited lightning bolts. Better if you can get a girl with the energy-recovery skill.. then really unlimited! Downside is unless you play early scenario (or Rise of Heroes) you can't find generals with "Gui Men" as only Zhang Jian and Zhang Bao of the Yellow Turbans have the skill, unless you use the custom officers.

I play scenario starts from 194. Using a custom made warrior & located in Chang Sha.

In this San 11, I found out that comps are very aggressive. So I quickly expand my territory to those empty city and then focus in internal development.

Make sure more money rolls in, food, plenty weapons, battleship available and army of course.

I also build a lot of defensive arrow towers around my cities.

Sun Ce and Liu Biao kept on attacking me wave after wave.

I just stayed defence and counter. Ironically I have beheaded Sun Ce when he led his first wave attack. After that, it was all about Sun Quan kept on attacking me.

I found out that they became weaker & weaker after keep attacking me.

Then at last I destroyed all Liu Biao's troops and seized his last city.

Now Sun Quan only has 2 cities left. One of the cities is going to be seized by me soon as I am counter attacking his attacking troops.

Talking about counter attacking troops, I always let them come first so that I can know what type of troops they are coming to my cities.

So it will be very easy to counter and weaken them in short period.

This is how I play.

Please share if you have any other ideas.

I normally play the last scenario, Rise of Heroes, because I like playing Yuan Shao, and he gets to meet everybody including Meng Huo, Deng Ai and Sima Yi. Apart from the "Gui Men"/"Bai Chu" combo, I also find the trio of Zhuge Liang (100% chance of confuse/mislead), Pang Tong (chain effect to all surrounding units) and Ma Su (all strategies cost only 1 energy to use) makes for a VERY superpowered unit, limited by the fact you can only make 1 action per turn. Being able to confuse 7 units at once makes up for it, though.

I love how the shortcuts are made - being able to move troops from Tian Shui to Mianzhulin via the mountains like Deng Ai did is just so fun!

Anybody experienced in finding the secret place to upgrade your military skills level?

IMHO, this is the best 三囯志 of its entire series. i am jz so addicted to it!!! especially when it comes to the knowledge battles, where hero vs hero using the spells the have. damn cool~

FYI - i have the half chinese, half Jap version as well. took me a while to understand them all but it was learning them

i played this game a few times. very fun at first. but after the 3rd , 4th time. it gets boring coz it's the same "you have the most number of troops = you win"

but i didn't play through the specific senerios. i heard it's very fun and you really gotta think strategy.

i found out they did a few translation. personaly i've never tried it out, so i don't know anything about that. I don't think you can download the game there either. they're legit. just the patches to translate.

It's not really a knowledge battle with spells, but a debate system (although it works like spells - reminds me of the card game in the Might and Magic series.. armitage or something like that). It's arguably the most annoying part of the game for me, though, as sometimes the computer just refuses to give me the options I need.

Could somebody explain how the anger works? When I'm totally angry and flaming, what are the benefits and handicaps? I noticed that I tend to win rounds which are normally equal, and sometimes something happens and I get to hit the opponent three times for free. Downsides I've noticed is that I can't use the special options.

chinese and japanese have been already out since long time ago
but this time they're releasing an english version for the PC

I hope it's the PUK version, since I love altering officer's stats and how many soldiers they're marching out.

The bad thing is it doesn't come with PUK, which in fact makes many officers with no Skills suck...

Liu Bei win of course easy la, try use Lu Bu, Liu Yao without adding custom generals.

Lu Bu's WAR is the only advantage of his force, the thing is many of his officers have low INT (except Chen Gong and Diao Chan), making them easily kena Misinform and Perturb....

Why wierd? the game itself is very weird as all staffs making them were japanese except 2-3 staffs who are the voice over for chinese.

Liu Bei has quality, Cao Cao has quantity and territory. Sun Jian average.

That short-lived ruler once forced me to keep retreating starting from Shou Chun and all the way to the city below Xin Ye/Shang Yong before my created force were eventually eliminated (YTR scenario)

Try to get as much officers as possible. Xia Pi easily defended. Build archer tower and trap at choke point the set fire, perturb and misinform. If can, let your archer tower tank the damage, and repair it. The goal is reduce the casualty of your army as much as possible. Try capture neighboring cities to pump gold and provision.

thx for reply, what i mean is the ai is too hard. ok maybe in managing the city i dont know tht much. what building that is a priority to build first...? put more on farm? on market.. should i put granary too or mint? should i focus on one army etc cavalry... what about the rank and promotion.. i dun know when to promote officer. n then what about reward and gift... thx for the help.

You know, you can make your officers became sworn siblings for three particular persons using 500 TP. at the late campaign of mine, I made them sworn siblings whenever I had the points as all technologies have been researched. But the only bad thing about this stuff if one of them rebel. Just when there's only one enemy city left, suddenly got rebellion.

I am familiar with Chinese version and read the SGYY and SGZ, so English version is a bit weird to me.

Trust me, using the cavalry to conquer the whole China easy than using other.

Just remember if you use cavalry, beware of the pikeman (枪兵) and always remember, Guan Yu is the superior of using this pikeman (S).

Find few generals with S on cavalry like Lu Bu, Zhao Yun, Wen Chou, Yan Liang, Zhang Liao (my favourite), Xiahou Dun, the Ma family (Ma Teng, Ma Chao, Ma Dai) etc. If you want to attack the city with catapult, remember you must get Yue Jin and Gao Shun.

And if you want to catch other general easily, let Pan Zhang to lead your troop.

I usually start off with weak faction. So I focus on using choke points and towers and arrow so I don't take any losses.

hmm, i dont like san guo 11 system.. i prefer the system in 10 and 8 anyone here agree?

Liu Bei very strong cause have many good generals. I'm talking about Liu Yong, Wang Lang. Usually i have no problem on fending off constant attackers as long i have enough provisions, gold and officers. Number of troops and armaments are not a problem.

Anyway, the good thing about Lu Bu is not his war. The AI sure reject his duels because he is too strong. The Flying General trait is very good but he needs to be accompanied by one smart fellow.
