I don't understand why forex talks about pips and not percentage return.
*
me too.. as im looking for percentage return. 100% return in a year is a holy grail to me
i prefer Profit Loss ratio more than risk reward ratio and win loss ratio
i would risk losing 30pips 5 times in a row to catch 1 big movement of 1000 pips

QUOTE(Love & Money @ Oct 4 2014, 11:55 PM)
In term in pips, I don't even know what's the leverage to calculate the net return.
Like when people say they made so many pips and I will be thinking "So these pips means how much % and what's the leverage?"
I think pips is just a term introduced to distract people from the true picture.
*
forget abt the leverage
what matters are 1 pips is equal to how much? 10 cents, 1 dollar or 10 dollar? and how many lots
if they bragging abt 1000pips but that value at 1 cent per pip. that is equal to 1pip at 1 standard lot

maybe next year. got few things to settle first

QUOTE(Love & Money @ Oct 6 2014, 06:36 PM)
If you have been trading for quite a while, you would realize losing is part of the business and not something that can be avoided entirely no matter how hard you try.
I think pips is just a distraction from the right perspective.

loss in forex is expenses.. like paying staff salaries, furniture, advertisement

Are you saying if there is no expenses, then your equity curve would slope upward exponentially with zero drawdown?
Please stop fooling around.

i wanted to long EU at 2680 but it look like a strong resistant last nite .was lazy and sleepy and miss the train. luckily on Demo Acct. but prove useful and interesting.could feel the emotion

this morning on live acct. long this bugger at 2722 and make 19 pips on 0.1 lot size. very song liao

accidentally click short A/U and make 22pips on employment data on 0.1 lot .this one is pure luck .very song. hopefully more songs to come before i burnt my live acct.
*
Not bad after all. Every pips count.
I long EU at .2639 on Tue open bcoz Monday close hit above my trailing resistance. Now waiting for it to close below trailing support to exit. But that's on demo and paper trade

I'm waiting for EU to break above daily resistance @ 1.27629 (aqua line) and pullback towards it before I go long

It gives me more confidence as I considered it as full fledged reversal IMHO smile.gif

What's your opinion guys?

How are u going to handle if its fakey breakout?

I don't really trade breakout in this counter trend situation as I prefer breakout trading with trend. I often wait for breakout to happen first and see whether the price pullback/retrace towards RBS (resistance become support) and retest around the area for at least 2 times. More retest the better smile.gif

Trading breakout is quite risky in this counter trend environment  sweat.gif
