Each volume is around RM 20 (not including postage fee), four volumes in a total, which contains 2 DVD-9 (A total of 8 DVDs). Bought them online of course, hitchhiked on my friend's online purchase which he send to his friend who is studying in Taiwan so that he could accumulate as much stuff as possible before sending them all back here with a single postage fee (saved a couple of 10 ringgits).
You can get 'em either through Books.com.tw (a chinese site - they used pos laju) or through Yesasia.
Books.com.tw offer 'em in the same price as what I bought, but their postage fee is almost half of the original price of the dvd themselves which means that about RM9++ per volumes or less... - EMS or well, Pos Laju here.
Yesasia currently only have volume 3 and 4 listed only, each volume is priced over RM 30++, you'll have to buy stuff worth US$39 to get free shipping though, which has actually being updated to courier recently - GPEX or Skynet (their partner in Malaysia).
No stupid clock of course, like Alternate-zero said, that's from the tv-rips. I have that one too (I still have), but one of the earlier ones, about 5 DVDs...
No way to post screen shot though, sorry...
Picture quality is as good as a normal DVD could get, same quality as the original Japanese DVD (Region 2) - I've compared them with my Super Ultra 8 brothers DVD, they look pretty much the same in quality. I can see the facial complexion of the actors very clearly, the Captain's face is very rough...
And by comparing to the *ahem* sets, blurry dusty fight scene turns out crispy clear as the dust becomes clear particles (very small but you'll notice them).
Taiwan release are quite famous for direct-porting of the japanese release, sometimes they even use the same menus(legal of course).
Notice:
Actually, there's an official release (since January 2010) of Ultraman Max here by Speedy as well, all 10 volumes in total, each volume contains 1 DVD (probably DVD-9), each DVD contains 4 episodes (as oppose to the 5 episodes in the Taiwan release).
The releases come with Chinese subs only and three audio tracks which included Japanese, Mandarin and Malay. The existance of only Chinese subs and Mandarin dubs are evidence that Speedy used the Taiwan release as their master source which is of course cheaper and cost saving since they can just direct translate the Chinese subs or Mandarin dubs into Malay dubs (which is quicker) without having to mess with the japanese dubs themselves. No english is a sign that it is an official release for sale in Malaysia only. No need Malay subs because Malay dubs already good enough (saved more cost)...
The biggest problem is - they are about RM 24++ per volume (per dvd). So a total of RM 200++ for all 10 volumes.
The taiwan release is re-release which is a price down repackage version (DVD PQ unchanged though), so yeah, it's definitely cheaper and worth it.
