Spyware Doctor is the best against Xwares. But it uses alot of system resources.

Dear NieA_83,

I must say that NOD32 GUI is really tricky. Generally, to "manually" scan ur PC, under "Threat Protection Modules" > "NOD32" , u'll see 4 scanning methods... Pls update the virus signitures first before u scan ur PC.

Sorry. I may not able to dictate the Student Price and subscription period. Nevertheless, u may consult eset authorised seller here in Malaysia @
http://www.eset.com/partners/worldwide.php . Whether they still deal with NOD, u have to find out.

Like i've mentioned in the other thread, I personally use Kaspersky AV. I used NOD32 for 30-days trial basis, just to "see" its performance. And yes NOD does not consume high system resource when dealing with Real-Time protection.

The link that u provided is pretty much comprehensive. Some options and configurations may differ in version 2.51.26 . I've vet thru all 4 pages and concluded that it's good.

My advice is that for u to try NOD first. Don't just simply buy without evaluating. Again, NOD may be ONE of the most reliable AV in the market today, but it may not be the same scenario in one year's time. Just like Norton AV, 5 years ago ppl praise it. But today, Norton is somewhat similar to Netscape browser. So, in few years time I may leave Kaspersky and go for other AV. Remember, technology evolves everyday. So does the virus...

If u have current AV installed in ur PC/laptop, reinstalling NOD ontop of other AV(s) may crush ur system.

OPTION 1 :
Preferably, try install trial NOD on other PC(s) that has no AV.

OPTION 2:
If u still insist to install NOD on ur PC, try disable ur current AV real-time scanning (but dont uninstall it). THEN only install NOD and let NOD run for 30-days trial. U may feel ur PC slows abit coz u have 2 AVs installed.
