was praying hard that uruguay would have a bad wc so that suarez wouldnt have the chance to shine, yet he hits the media for both the right and wrong reasons. i am really not sure why would he go to barca when there is close to zero chance he will play through the middle as messi is easily the top dog there. zlatan is a good example and how he was forced to be shipped out because both he and messi cant play in the same team ACCORDING TO MESSI. i am bitter here but i know the club moves on, and no player is bigger than the club. liverpool f.c. comes first. i just wish he would've stayed as we were so close last season. with other teams strengthening too, the only major difference is us losing suarez, best player last season, top 3 the season before. we are losing a huge core of our starting 11. the spine of other top teams are still there. its easy to say for example if we land sanchez or shaqiri or reus or whoever, yes they are top players, but we all know how even the best of players need time esp when they go to a new country and league. its so close at the top and i'd hate for us to miss out esp top 4 as it is paramount that we have champs league every season, both for the revenue and attraction purposes.

looks like most of u are all focusing on the talents to add to the squad upfront but what about defense ? ashley cole anyone ? i'd still think hes top class. maybe a good year or two left in him. roma are favs as of now to land him and reports are that we are trying to get him too. for me, i think he will come good for us provided the wages are appropriate and not too high, if not we are btr off getting someone younger like moreno or rodriguez(swiss lb).

i've been following both itv and bbc coverage of the wc, and boasting pundits like shearer, r. ferdinand, cannavaro, henry, alan hansen, patrick vieira. im no pro player, but i do follow footie alot, and one consensus of the pundits that caught my attention was how goalkeepers is very important in not only giving the defense confidence, but also organisation and compactness. i'd usually place my blame on the lack of leadership in defence once carra left, and while skrtel stepped up in chipping in with goals and performance, his lack of leadership and voice hasnt help. when kolo was brought in, everyone tot his experience might be crucial, he did reasonably well in the first few matches and fell flat after a few months with a num of horrendous mistakes. i really like to see someone stepped up. sakho looks like he can be one, but he is inconsistent and he gives u the feeling that a mistake can easily happen at anytime. i hope to be proven wrong because 18mil for a defender is big money imo. i hope mignolet stepped up too. he was just slightly above average imo. the penalty save in the first game and a few good clean sheets esp at the start of the season prolly gave the fans a false sense of judgement. he made errors against city and chelsea which was very costly. prolly having reina around might be good in that he will provide competition.

Benzema and Falcao are impossible targets.

Bony might not be the star name you are looking for but honestly I can't think of any strikers capable of replacing Suarez that we can realistically attract/buy. Bony is a very underrated player and will be a very good buy AT THE RIGHT PRICE. Seems everyone wants to rip us off these days. The overpricing of English players mentality doesn't seem to only apply to English players. Smaller English clubs seem to overcharge every time a fellow English club comes enquiring about their player.

Lovren & Bony both very good players but priced way too high at the moment. Bony reminds me of the way Drogba destroyed our defence. Drogba wasn't really a high volume scorer but he is very effective. Maybe BR is looking to add this element to our strikeforce.

Rumour has it that Madrid are only interested in his teammate, James Rodriguez. The reason why Madrid pulled out of the Suarez race is because they are preparing to sign Benzema to a new long term deal. Then again, Benzema in my opinion is the best like for like replacement for Suarez.

In an ideal world I would love to see us signing Reus and so do our rival fans. We need to replace Suarez's creativity with someone and that someone is not Bony. Bony is more of a focal point ala Sturridge but the more physical type. I won't mind him as long as we sign someone else bigger in stature and more proven in quality. It's also rumoured that Suarez wasn't Barca's first choice. They only came looking because Dortmund refuse to do business on Reus.

Unlikely in my opinion but sure hope you guys are right. Doubt we can afford both since we still need to strengthen our defence with maybe Lovren and Moreno. So between Reus and Benzema who do you prefer? Reus for me. Oh I can only hope...
