Hello all,
I've always loved Lego since young and with my daughter falling deep with Friends theme, I do think Lego has strong potential still after decades.
Would any of the enthusiasts advice on investing and opening a Lego store in a shopping mall in Klang Valley? Would the profit margin enough to cover the store expenses? What are the challenges and limitation that retailers are facing?
Thanks!
In my opinion, market is pretty saturated in Klang Valley.
You really need to be unique to stand out and most likely have to compete fiercely in prices.
Most likely in the near future, an official Lego store is inevitable. When that time comes, it'll be tougher for you to compete against the exclusives offered at the Lego store. However, it's not to say that you can't compete, as Lego store only has RRP. Also note that official stores have VIP points program which means a converted 5% off and sometimes double or triple points is available. In Germany (OK, not the best comparison), I tend to buy from official Lego store for their exclusives only, but always go to the nearby shopping mall or other online toy stores for bargains as they almost always have at least 10% off RRP.
From a consumer point of view, the more the merrier as we get more choices!
