If both comes out for me, it'll be a dilemma. Worst of all, the "rumoured" difference in the screen specs.

So 5.5" will be "iPhone 6L"? 2915mAh Battery? and not that big see below comparison with 4.7" :-

user posted image

Chinese rumor blog Apple Daily has acquired photos of what it claims are the next-generation iPhone, including the 5.5-inch model we’ve seen much less of in recent weeks. The two photos above show the larger device (with the purple interior) paired with a 4.7-inch version. The wider 5.5-inch model is to the right and the 4.7 display panel is on the left. While some may note that the part on the right does not appear much larger than the part on the left, it is possible that the image’s perspective does not highlight the size differentiation well.

The larger model, which Apple Daily claims will be called ‘iPhone 6L’ also sports a larger 2915mAh battery (seen below), compared to the 1810mAh in the 4.7-inch device and 1560 mAh in the iPhone 5s. The larger display area and form-factor allows Apple to squeeze a much larger battery pack into the phone, but it is currently unclear if this will mean stronger battery life. It’s uncertain if the larger display and more powerful chip rumored for the bigger phone will counterbalance the effects of the bigger battery pack…

The new iPhones are scheduled to debut at an Apple Media Event on September 9th, and Apple is also preparing new iPad models and a wearable fitness device for launch later this fall. In addition to larger displays, the new iPhones will include thinner and rounder designs as well as display covers built from sapphire crystal and a faster A8 chip.

Components for the upcoming 5.5-inch model’s display began leaking out from the Asia supply chain in June, and parts for the 4.7-inch model have been appearing on the web for months. Both models are now in mass production.

Part of the “iPhone 6L” display panel, which features a similar design to the 4.7-inch variant with more rounded corners, is shown off in one of the photos below. Other internal components, including more photos of the logic board for both handsets, are on display in the photos below:

if both come out together, 4.7 is like 6c and 5'5 = 6s. and u will be 'surpised' for the price tag of 5'5.
however, i think most people will go for 5'5 lah because higher battery mah and few hundreds differences only (remember 5c, 5s). whistling.gif

There won't be a 5.5 inch iPhone.

It's a red herring. It won't come out later - It won't come at all.
It's too Un-Apple-y.

People don't understand the preference for bigger phones is a small percentage of people. Those people REALLY prefer that size, but everyone else will prefer 4" - 5"

yeah. that 1.8k mah is kinda disappointing.
no matter how advance the tech is, the battery efficiency/capacity is still lagging far behind. sad.gif
i hope no major tech difference between 4.7 vs 5.5. coz i luv going for 4.7 as my next iphone (back from android).

Imo, 5" screen size is the sweet spot now. Once you start using a 5" phone, which take me few days to get used to, coming from 4.3". You can never really go back to smaller screen, especially iphone 4 / iphone 5. They will be too small.

but of course, this is all up to personal preference and taste. Hand size might be a deciding factor as well.

If the rumours are real, 4.7" and 5.5" iphone, it will be a big dilemma.
Perfect screen size, but small battery, or big ass screen but good battery size. sweat.gif

Two different market I guess. 5.5 good for those who don't want carry powerbank, watch video freuqently and play games.

yes, i understand its to cater the 'larger' crowd and 'normal' crowd.
by using 'tech different', i'm implying case such as 5c & 5s smile.gif (aside screen size and battery capacity)

The battery ain't bad, but everyone expecting > 2000mAH. Honestly, they could have squeezed an extra 200mAH to make it roughly 2010mAH.

Bear in mind there will be a new processor and some other new hardware features. Possibly Apple is confident these new hardware will work tightly with the new IOS 8 to deliver better battery performance?

We'll see, what I hope is they can make a "power-saving" mode. Really handy when you no where near power source.
