Greetings!
I'm currently having a basic DSLR set,

- Nikon D7000 ( whole set including lens )
- Nissin Di622
-AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D

and I was thinking whether should I sell it off and get an extremely good compact camera?
My DSLR has been collecting a lot of dust unfortunately due to the fact that I'm just too darn busy nowadays
And whenever I'm heading out, I'll be too lazy to bring out my DLSR due to the fact that it's heavy and bulky

What I'm seeking for is a Digital Compact Camera that has built in WiFi in it so that I can straight away send my photos to my iPhone and upload it on social networking websites
Also, a camera that is small and light, not forgetting good recording audio quality

I'm more to an outgoing person. What do you guys think?

My budget would be around RM2000+-
Depends on how much I can sell off what I'm having right now sweat.gif

I can totally understand your feeling. there are a lot of good compacts on sale nowadays.

For smaller zoom and size, you can go for Sony RX100 (I, II or even III) or the Canon g1x ii, these 2 are the top players in premium compact field.

For bigger zoom, there's sony RX10 and panasonic FZ1000, these 2 shares a lot of similarity and have really long zoom (8.3x and 16x) but size wise close to entry level dslr.

The canon looks tempting! Thanks for the recommendation though but its pretty big

I think you already answered your question lol. You might wanna try to take a look at mirrorless camera's but then you must tell yourself you're gonna loose all those bullets for something small.  whistling.gif  Unless you're really keen on selling off your entire DSLR and its equipments for a digi cam.

I was thinking of a compact digital camera. Or would it be better if i get a mirrorless instead although its bigger? I wouldnt want my pictures to end up iphone-quality like the background is bright but the object is dark doh.gif

Depending on which mirrorless camera, their sensor is way more advance than mobile phone sensors (and yes that incl Nokia's Pureview sensors). You can try to go Sony centre to test out their mirrorless camera's. I've personally one of their camera's (can't recall the model unfortunately). Other brands you can check out Panasonic's Lumix series too.

Will consider, it would be great if I can find one which fits into my pocket haha, thanks though!

From my experience, a Fujifilm XM-1 coupled with a tiny XF27mm lens is perfect for light travel without compromising image quality smile.gif

Hmm looks good though, any idea how much did it roughly cost you?

Most of the photos are
are taken with the Fuji X20, more recent ones are by the Fuji XE-2. Getting a new XM1 with a twin lens might cost less than 1.8k. I have used the XM1, the sensor and image quality are more than decent. If you don't mind giving up the optical viewfinder, I think a mirrorless gives the best bang for yur buck smile.gif

Looking at your gear of having basic lenses you're not going to miss much ditching the DSLR gear for a premium compact.  The only thing you're going to miss is the 50mm f1.8.

If you like external flash you can get a Canon G1x mk2 with a Canon 270ex w diffuser.  At events the picture quality will be impossible to tell the difference between that and a DSLR w flash.  Slightly pricey altogether but its a killer combo.

Pocketable will be the Sony RX100.  Its is the hot selling travel camera.  But if you're patient a lot of new cameras from other brands like Panasonic, Canon etc. are soon coming with their 1" sensor compact cameras.  And those new models might even come with 4k video.

Mirrorless camera might not be for you unless you love bringing a range of lenses out or can't live without prime lenses.

Hmm, will do some research about it, thanks!

I sold my nikon D3100+kit lens+50mm f1.8 too and got the A6000.
Recently I got the 35mm f1.8. Loving it so much so no regrets letting my dslr go.

Someone told me the A6000 has the same sensor as the D3100! Haha
