Hi guys,

I just received my Maybankard 2 Cards, and that is my first credit card, but it got a yellow part in that letter which attached the cards, it writes,  "THIS PORTION MUST BE SIGNED AND RETURNED IMMEDIATELY"

So do I really have to sign it and return it? But return where?

I have already activated the cards via SMS and got the confirmation already, can anyone help me with this?

Thanks a lot. smile.gif

Not really need, but next time please go to the branch and collect directly from them.
This is to prevent any fraud case later on.
When you have fraud case, is not the money involved that makes you in trouble, but you need to go to "nearest" police station where the fraud case happens.
Last time I do have such case(very LCLY because holding 5-6 cards) and I stay in Seremban. The fraud case happens in Puchong and I need to go to that police station to make report.

Thanks a lot rclxms.gif
Oh, I see, I really don't know that, it is great for you to share this with me as a credit card noob tongue.gif

Secure your card like you IC, simple as that.

QUOTE(wcheong @ Aug 29 2014, 04:06 PM)
12500 tp = rm2500 spent = rm50 reward.
so two cards need at least rm5000 spent throughout the year, then only can get no-loss from this.  hmm.gif
*
At least you no need to pay a signle cent and don't forget, you got the cash back. So from getting rm600 a year now you are getting rm500, still something.

QUOTE(wcheong @ Aug 29 2014, 04:12 PM)
that's why it's troublesome,  why must be 2 cards..  cry.gif
last time only charge one rm50, now two cards also charge..
the maybank guy said: dun worry, can redeem by points, but also mean dry-up the tp pools of mine as well.. not a good way.  vmad.gif
*
Have to know that, not all merchant accepts AMEX. But for me that have another bank's card, so I do feel dual card are not that useful, but heck, I'm still getting 1TP, so I don't mind much on this.

QUOTE(shirley_andy @ Aug 29 2014, 08:19 PM)
I've just called Maybank and it seems like everytime I wanna use Amex to pay online like Groupon I need to first call up to ask for the transaction to be permitted otherwise the transaction won't work. Is this true?
*
AMEX's security are not that good and lots of fraud case. So this is extra security measure by Maybank, is troublesome, but this can more or less prevent any fraud.

Applied hire purchase loan with mbb last year and got call today from mbb credit card centre offering me mbb2kard.

They said it is pre-approved and will send the card within 2 weeks time.

My question, still got pre-approved card? They didnt asked me any supporting doc and why only now they give the offer? My loan was approved june 2013
*
Set aside the pre-approved issue, have you get your statement on this and charged rm50 GST?
If not, I'll just take the card since it is giving good cash back and TP.
If you are a regular customer of Maybank, they already know how much money you have, so why they need the so-called supporting documents?
A credit card does not really need approval which is the right procedure in the first place. You want a credit card, you can have it within 1-2 hours. Just that banks are lazy to make the card on the spot.
That's why always take the credit card on the agreed branch, this can prevent any potential fraud. Maybank cards no need to call card center to activate.

Nothing appear in my m2u. My salary credited in cimb and my payment records for mbb hire purchase loan is good

I dont really need a new card anyway but will give it a try. The GST will be rm50 x 2 according to cs instead of rm50 only

But they will credited rm100 within 3 months so i think it is a good deal

Just dont know why they didnt offer me last year during my loan approved. Bad sales?
*
Usually they will monitor your payment record since you are not their regular customer.
Once you get the card, make sure to compare your current card and this MBB cards, which is better for your usage.

Please refer to BNM's policy on unsolicited çc.

Unsolicited? I guess this is not considered as what you said.
Pre-approved does not means approved, it still need our verification.
And the bank do called, right.
Unsolicited banks like you said will be HLB, never honored what they said, like they put "dining" as cash back, but with small fonts until not much people can see and then say cannot get CB due to MCC different.
For my case even better, they can provide me the MCC.
Which is worst? A bank that call you first or a bank that does not honor what they said?

Got FD can increase your chances.
Or you are a MBB account holder for a long period of time.

guys i know this has been discussed previously in this forum but...

overseas transaction in USD better use AMEX than VISA right? or amiwrong?
*
AMEX are widely accepted in overseas, keep the exchange rate aside as all of them have their own and don't follow what our banks stated.
The advantages of AMEX over the other(Visa or Master) is the 5X TP you are getting for every rm1 spent.

guys some query, got my card and is there a must to swipe my card for a minimum number of time for some benefit
*
If you want to get rm50 of cashback, yes, you need to swipe minimum 1 time(rm1000) or 100 times(rm10 each time)to entitled for it.
And to get GST waived, you need to have 12500 of TP minimum.
So in some sense, there will be "minimum" spending for this card.

Yes, i did paid at the cashier and ask whetehr accept amex, he said only visa n mc. sad.gif bye bye weekend cashback for today..

May consider another bank's card. That's the main setback of AMEX in Malaysia, sad but true. But you can always maximize CB on others, TNB, Telekom for example.

QUOTE(simc2 @ Sep 13 2014, 09:30 PM)
For Caltex, try to use automated pump as cashier there do not have credit card terminal for AMEX.
*
Some Caltex(at cashier counter) also don't accept AMEX.

do I need to activate cc for oversea use?
*
Must call, unless you are prepared to waste phone call money to let CS knows.
This is to prevent fraud.
And it will be better when you swipe using CC rather than use cash.
Certain countries even after the admin fee and conversion rate, it will still slightly cheaper, not to mention the TPs you are getting.

18. This is what is mentioned behind our Maybankard Statement - Foreign Charges converted by AMEX apply a coversion factor of 2.5% to the converted amount plus 0.5% administration cost imposed by Maybank.
but my fren used the cc at macau, he said no additional charges was apply
*
Indeed the charges are there, just that it is not obvious. Now I'm working in Qatar, changing cash before I leave Malaysia was rm0.92 for 1 riyal.
But when I swipe my AMEX in Qatar, with everything in only rm0.90.
Swipe with Master it will be lower, about rm.089.
Again, I choose to use AMEX is due to the 5X TPs. In Qatar, majority of merchant accept AMEX.

Quick question, can I pay more than my statement using m2u? Example: statement ±RM800 then I pay RM1000.

I know that we can pay extra if use cash deposit machine.
*
Why want to pay extra? No point, better use that extra money for keeping 1 month FD.

Just got my renewal cards, as my expiry is in Oct. But the validity is only until 2017. Is that normal? I thought it should be longer than just 3 years right?
*
Is normal, but they will give you a new card when there's potential fraud happens.

so actually using cc is more worth than changing the rate / cash ?
*
Case by case. But must understand that we can't bring too much cash to other countries.
And RM not all countries likes it. So like in Malaysia showing USD1 = rm3.2, in US you may need to use rm3.4 to change USD1 or worst case, they ask you got such currency meh?

AMEX is 3%? I never bother much.
As I bother much is when it shows in the statement. But so far it is still cheaper than I change cash, best of all, I'm getting TPs.
