but even after pay to clean, the mold could be still build-up sooner or later.. lately room only just put Sharp Air Purifier
*
Why there is mold on the blower side?

Aircon air is dry. Wrong setting?

Check your humid during using aircon.

AC air is drier but AC pipes at the fins will sweat due to higher indoor humidity whilst in operation. Mould growth cannot be avoided. I've seen or heard of it in all AC that's not been serviced.
*
I don't have such problem. There is only dirt at that blower side.

Room humid during aircon is 40-45%.

New type aircon normally have antimold treated on the fin, water tray or some parts.

The air blowing out is dry. So shouldn't be mold grow on it. Unless at the water tray below the fin.

Shouldn't water tray should be below the fin? It drains away the condensation water. It makes sense for the tray to be like a drain. Condensate water drips down to this. Humid air will always sweat at the heat exchange pipe covered under the fins.

Wow 40-45%  that's quite dry. Better drink lots of water. I just ensure mine stays around 60-65% on average and no lower than 55%.
*
I mean the mold will grow at the tray since the water will remain in there. But not at others area.

Level of humid depend on the temperature setting. The lower the more dry. 40-45% at the 24c temp setting.

I don't have problem with this level humid. It doesn't consent me if 40% or 60%. But not over than like 70%+. Can feel the stuffy.

You can buy at ACE or Caring, watson etc.

I have the sharp air purifier which have humid reading. So I can see my room humid.

Ok got what you mean. By right it should drain quickly and not stagnate. Mould can proliferate where dust adhere to cold area where heat exchange happens.
*
By right, all the aircon now have the antimold chemical to protect from mold.

Shoudn't have such issue anymore. It is not a new feature now.

If you search some aircon website spcification, it have list down like antimold.

aircond boss.. how to rinse.. or u mean use damp cloth to wipe?! biggrin.gif

the aircond still cold, if get service guy jz to do cleaning, dun think worth it though coz they may likely charge full price
*
This is what I do.

Put a big plastic bag below the aircon. I have this plastic bag specially for aircon service. I don't no where to get already. The last I saw is in homefix, 1U.

Spray the coil, blower and anywhere. (Not the electrical side) Use brush.

Rinse it buy spray pressure. I use the ACE 2L garden pressure spray. Cause the nose is long and can go into the blower.

Take down the plastic back that collect the drain water.

Wait till night time only ON back the power to the aircon. To fully dried out the water and incase sip into the electrical side.

* The last is, I spray some dettol dilute with water into the coil. It help kill some germ on the coil, drainer and the drain pipe. Kill the smell too.

Any1 has any experience on Daikin a/c?? Is the removal of blower wheel complicated?

Thanks in advance!
*
Wheel/blower cannot be remove by consumer for cleaning. It is fix into the aircon housing.

The only way is take the whole aircon down and flush cleaning. Which is able to do by serviceman.

What we need is how easy to access the blower and do the normal vacuum cleaning on it. Many Aircon brand is not easy to access it.

Hi,

I used to remove my Panasonic aircon blower wheel to soak + clean. This is the video I followed:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atQZtEEcE4c...&index=2&t=353s

I don't really consider it that difficult to remove...

For Daikin, i'm just not sure if it's the same (mitsubishi is similar to panasonic i think...). I want to gather opinions b4 i head on to dismantle smile.gif

Thanks for your input!!

I have been using panasonic aicon for 2 decade till now.

Been open up for many time.

Just can't take out the blower.

what is your Panasonic aircon model?

I brought another aircon Mitsubishi model which have the feature that easy to clean the blower.

Might change all the aircon to Mitsubishi.

Oic, that panasonic model was bought ~ 5 yrs back...

I dun see why engineers design them to be difficult to unmount tho... Shouldn't the trend geared towards self-maintainable...  confused.gif

I've already made arrangement w/ a service man to remove & clean the blower wheel + vacuum drain pipe. Told him strictly no pressure spray or chemical clean as I dun want the whole room to get messed up. Funny thing is he commented: "ohh u want singapore style ar?"
*
pressure spray or chemical clean is done outdoor. Not in the room. It require to taken down the whole aircon.

"ohh u want singapore style ar?" - Is cleaning by using a big bag hang below the aircon. All the dirt and water drop into the bag.

Pressure spray or chemical clean is more cleaner.

Ya i've seen them hang a semi-enclose bag (with a pipe that leads to a pail). they then force spray water all over onto the indoor unit and the surrounding air is misted with vapor (& dust?)... always freak me out this way ...

i find that cleaning the blower wheel + drainage pipe + filter is good enough most of the time.. perhaps chemical clean once every 3-4 yrs suffice ba
*
I used to do that. I have the big bag.

But no more doing. It take me long hr.

i see today  they can do chemical clean with pressure spray on the Indoor unit  .  right ?

I am wondering  if you use chemical  clean  DIY or with service tech  ,  will this damage the fins
how often  is the recommended chemical clean  ?
*
I don't use any chemical if DIY clean. Only general detergent. It is good enough.

If you want to use chemical, can get it from ACE or aircon parts supply shop. Makseure you read the label about safety.

Pressure spray have 2 type. If you using the pressure motor pump, yes, it would damage the fin. Unless you know how to use.

Another type is hand pump. This wan is safe. I use this spray to clean the fin.

Any general detergent or multipurpose liquid cleaner. Can buy from supermarket.

At the end, it is the spray water that flushes out the dust.
