in malaysia, most likely employer will never fire employee unless the employee truely unable to perform, or always create trouble.

Kinda fun too if being fired like that.

Actually its he who fired me as he has no choice wink.gif
He is 1 of those typical chinaman boss, has no business ethics & manipulative. the rest of partners & staffs are mind control by him except 1 who is the real boss in the company which i feel sorry for. Right now his top level management morale went down & it affects his business because I've opened another company doing in the same business field & JV with his rival(s). Finally that I managed to break free from the leash, now I need to loose another 1.

I haven't experience that before but one of my colleague got fired after work 5 months. He got degree and experience work as trainee for 6 months. therefore my manager hired him because he said he know networking and server. At first my manager want him to handle the whole server room. Too bad, not even one week my manager started to scold him.

He not even know what is a modem for. Totally noob. Doesn't look like he got a degree in computing. So manager assigned him to others work like do helpdesk works. Unfortunately, he can't even speak properly to the users. everything also he don't know. I taught him with patient, but he only can catch up 20%. All others colleague dislike him.

Eventually, 5 months later manager fired him. He look very down. I really felt pity for him. But luckily he got a new job work as Global support specialist. Wow! seem great. Again ,3 months later he is jobless. Now I don't know what happen to him liao.

For my company, it's not a trend to fire employees. But last month, one of my colleague was fired, I think he is the first person to get fired from company. I can say that he just a trouble-maker and doesn't know how to talk properly. Ends up no one in my company like him, even my company clients hated him. My managers and other colleagues also complained about him and lastly my boss also can't tahan anymore. Have to 'goreng' him.

Some company even involves suing and probably jail term, if you leak confidential information. Take a look in your contract of employment sweat.gif

I once worked odd-jobs for a small law firm, handling mostly computer related stuff and some legal paperwork. Without even a college Diploma (I was pursuing it at that time), I had no freaking idea of what the firm partners were saying. What mortgage contract? What affidafit? What Title Deed?

(Alright, I wasn't much of a reader, and my general knowledge was pretty low)

Painstakingly tried to understand things they said. Got into trouble once for preparing a wrong set of files, and got verbal hammering when one of the partners returned from court.

Paid miserably like peanuts, I endured the torture, and eventually ended up one night at my cronnie's home getting wasted on booze and mahjong. Got into a slight accident when I tried to avoid a running cat (stupid puss), damaging my front panel.

Did not turn up for work the next day as I had to repair the car. It hardly crossed my mind that I had to call in absent.

The following day, I casually 'reported' to work, only to find my seat warmed by a new lady. Boss handed me an Ang Pow of cash (would you believe my salary that month could easily fit in a red packet?) and 'thank me for my troubles and services rendered'. Sarcasm indeed.

Maybe that's why I never wanted to be a lawyer

Honestly, how does one actually fire his/her boss? Mind to share the process, b3rnard7?

i'm still a student and i'm working in my dad's hardware shop every year's december till chinese new year, to earn pocket money for mid-year-spending-spree rclxm9.gif though i know i'll never be fired as long as i go to work and don't do stupid mistakes, like, arguing and punching customers, the thought of being fired is still, scary ph34r.gif

here's how my father do it: if a worker is late-to-shop for 3 days in a week, in the 4th day he'll get a scolding and a RM20 to get himself back to kampung (majority of the workers are from kelantan. i don't know why too.), shouting at him, telling him the next day there'll be someone to replace him. "kalau tak nak kerja, balik kampung tidur, sini untuk orang nak kerja, bukan orang nak cuti." <- his favourite sentence.

imagine being shout like that in public. sweat.gif

Gee whiz, reminds me so much of my dad too!

Yeah, I used to work free-lance for daddy, setting up office computer systems and software solutions. Sometimes would run errands (just like any other office boy), going to the bank, collecting payments, even buying packed lunch.

No exceptions too. If I'd screw up, I'll be cruicified in office too. Using "dad" is like uttering a forbidden verse from the book of curses.

Never did get fired though, as I held one trump card - he needed me to take care of his office computer systems... for free. And I needed some pocket money... for dating girls

I've got fired twice. Both of them "fired" me "suddenly" at the end of the month, when I take my salary for them.

It is a painful experience, and it does demoralise one, but do the employers themselves feels happier and happy about it? (Firing someone).
Thats why after the 2nd time I was terminated, I got all "fedup" and started my own business.

i've heard of some that says they keep on transferring you from one department to another until you get fed-up and fire yourself sweat.gif

but have you ever think of the reason they fired you? is it really because of you fault?

but i think a company should give notice before they fired an employee to give them some time to find a replacement. is this stated in the labour law?

So what conditions would one deserve firing?

Here's what my company's Employment Contract states (edited for confidentiality)

- Stealing company's property
- Non-conformance to the Company's Rules and Regulations
- Fighting, assault or use of threat in a physical manner at work
- Consumption / Possession / Usage of alcohol / drugs at work
- Gambling during work hours
- Behaviour that consist of vulgar / abusive / gross / insubordinative

I think I have violated quite a number of them.
