I am from a bridge camera thinking of starting my photography journey but cant decide which camera models to get.
I'm having a dilemma between nikon and canon (at first i already decide to get a nikon coz they say nikon for photos canon for movie)
Thats why i wanted to get a Nikon d90 at first (used) its pretty cheap now. I didnt want to get those beginner models D2xxx D3xxx D5xxx because I want to be able to control and have more dials like the D90 + a LCD on top to get used to using it because i want to be a PRO one day!!!
And then i start thinking if i want to go full frame one day i would go with a canon i love the L lens series so why dont just start with a canon? unless the Nikon lenses are compatible with the canon? I dont know are they compatible? eg the nikkor 50mm f1.8 G lens. My friend started learning with a nikon and now hes with canon and doing pretty good (already a pro) and normally when i look around mostly all pro photographers at events use a canon not a nikon

so i assume a canon is better.
So would u guys recommend me some canon camera models with similar controls as a D90 with LCD and more dials something on par with it and the lens i should go for (i shoot portrait and landscapes). Or if you think i should go with a nikon tell me why

EDIT: Budget 2K can go up to 2.5K. I'm going to buy a camera used in garage sales so 2.5K should be sufficient

I just want to plan well I would be wasting a lot of money if i cant decide whether i want to go full frame or just buy a camera for fun and keep in cabinet never shoot so why waste so much money on it then? I'm not saying i want to look like a pro but not a pro, my meaning is if im going to learn why would i go for a beginner model and end up not satisfied after using it for a while and then need to upgrade body again and sell and buy again in a short time?? So im looking for something in between that i can learn and use for sometime before i go PRO.
You must have a DREAM to ACHIEVE. You work towards your goal what is life without a dream? When im in primary school teacher always ask what i want to be when i grow up I am in primary school not even college but i already can answer what i want to be when i grow up so its not wrong to 'dream' its a step to success so you know what you want and you work to get it. A person with no dream can never be successful. You will lose track and go in wrong direction. When i say im going PRO im not just saying its a commitment regardless I will learn until im PRO so DREAM IT!!
and in events the pro photographers are using their own personal camera model btw i have a friend in that idk if hes sponsored or not but hes using his own canon so im unsure of your canon nikon sponsorship nevertheless thanks for making that statement, you may be right.
My budget 2.5K i believe is sufficient since now all used cameras around there depends what model. I dont mind giving extra in as long as I dont need to sell and buy body in a short time
Canon or Nikon doesn't matter, learning curve is the same, you're the one clicking the shutter. There's a lot of people taking great pictures with cropped sensor cameras as well, some of them are from this forum, you can check out those official CaNikon Sony Fuji threads.
No matter which brand you start with, you'll always be tempted to jump ship, grass is always greener on the other side. You might be starting a thread whether or not you should switch from A to B after some time you got your first DSLR when you couldn't get the result you wanted.
I'd suggest getting a used D5100 with its kit lenses and learn from there, invest the rest of your budget in either lightning or tripod or attend workshops or even go travel, these can improve your photography more than acquiring the best of the best gears. Although it doesn't have all those "PRO" controls, it still have the same sensor as the D7000, which have awesome dynamic range, useful if you're planning to go PRO in landscape, plus we don't really require all those buttons in landscapes anyway, since its a pretty slow process. Body is also not so important, as it gets upgraded always, research on the brand with better lenses lineup that suits your needs more.
And please state which genre of photography you want to go PRO in, easier for us to suggest a brand, or even a model, if you insist in getting Canon or Nikon.
Do more research as well, since it's YOUR dream, you might not be satisfied in what others provide you with.
