I am from a bridge camera thinking of starting my photography journey but cant decide which camera models to get.

I'm having a dilemma between nikon and canon (at first i already decide to get a nikon coz they say nikon for photos canon for movie)

Thats why i wanted to get a Nikon d90 at first (used) its pretty cheap now. I didnt want to get those beginner models D2xxx D3xxx D5xxx because I want to be able to control and have more dials like the D90 + a LCD on top to get used to using it because i want to be a PRO one day!!! 

And then i start thinking if i want to go full frame one day i would go with a canon i love the L lens series so why dont just start with a canon? unless the Nikon lenses are compatible with the canon? I dont know are they compatible? eg the nikkor 50mm f1.8 G lens. My friend started learning with a nikon and now hes with canon and doing pretty good (already a pro) and normally when i look around mostly all pro photographers at events use a canon not a nikon  so i assume a canon is better.

So would u guys recommend me some canon camera models with similar controls as a D90 with LCD and more dials something on par with it and the lens i should go for (i shoot portrait and landscapes). Or if you think i should go with a nikon tell me why 
EDIT: Budget 2K can go up to 2.5K. I'm going to buy a camera used in garage sales so 2.5K should be sufficient
