QUOTE(azranashraf @ Jun 23 2014, 09:42 AM) Haha, yeah. I think they look bad with the default keycaps as well. But upon changing keycaps they're quite pretty. QUOTE(ainuddin @ Jun 23 2014, 09:46 AM) Oh you're right. Would be cool if there's a HHKB3 with that layout though. This post has been edited by yukihatsu: Jun 23 2014, 11:51 AM |

QUOTE(quovadis123 @ Jun 23 2014, 12:10 PM) That hhkb3 layout is fugly with additional useless modifier keys, and completely ruin HHKB name if really got that version. Lol! The HHKB2 Japanese looks pretty much like the fake HHKB3 though... What I like about HHKB is the original layout which is ergo and you will able to reach all the modifiers using touch typing. When add extra modifiers on the corner left and those right, it's very hard to reach with your fingers. The drawback of current HHKB2 was the 2 top right keys which is hardly reachable from right pinky fingers when your right index finger pressing on homing key. Can your pinky reach the FN button comfortably? I have a hard time trying to press the far end of the shift key with my pinky when my fingers are on the home row. |

Considering getting 0168257061's Clear switches. Any thoughts on Ergo Clear switches? I like the feeling of my browns right now but I want to prevent bottoming out if possible. Heard that Clear will help with that.

QUOTE(dadudeneverabides @ Jun 24 2014, 11:19 PM) Can't replace keycaps easily. You'll have a tough time scouring for keycaps that'll fit, look nice and have high quality. Wah, poison poison. Any notable change in the typing sound? My current switch (and key) sounds pretty darn awesome IMO. Deep and low tone instead of high pitched that you hear on blues.Ergo clear = hnnnngggghhhhhhhhh I like using 55g on my alphanumerics and 62g on my mods. They're a joy to type on. I would have modded my TKL to ergo clears but I'm planning on giving it away once my lightsaver comes in, so.... It'd be great if it actually sounds like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8aQS4bRv6w This post has been edited by yukihatsu: Jun 25 2014, 12:00 AM |

QUOTE(ntw @ Jun 25 2014, 02:59 AM) Brown. I added some blu tack on some of the keycaps to muffle the noise a little. Works great so far. Upon reading the YouTube comments, it is indeed Ergo Clears. Sounds so heavenly. Edit: The blu tack mod looks like this, gross looking but the sound difference is very noticeable especially when bottoming out. I applied it to my WASD keys for now. Might apply to more keys in the future. ![]() This post has been edited by yukihatsu: Jun 25 2014, 09:36 AM |

Guys, I'm letting go of my Filco Majestouch 2 TKL with blue switches:
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=3270960 I bought in mid May 2014 so it's actually pretty brand new. |

Anyone had success with this before? http://imgur.com/gallery/KZbmV
Seems pretty easy to do. The only thing I'm worried about is how long the coil will last. |

QUOTE(ntw @ Jun 27 2014, 12:48 AM) I don't get the hype with topre keyboards. I know they're certainly more expensive but does that translate into better quality/typing experience? #sorryinewbie #enlightenmepleaseQUOTE(yukihatsu @ Jun 27 2014, 01:31 AM) Anyone had success with this before? http://imgur.com/gallery/KZbmV Okay, okay. Later when Justin's cable is here I'll give it a try.Seems pretty easy to do. The only thing I'm worried about is how long the coil will last. Edit: Brothers and sisters, what case is this? QUOTE(wildwestgoh @ Jun 27 2014, 08:28 AM) What? You gonna roll Justnits's cable? Serious ah. I thought can coil any cable. And I told him to make a longer one for me LOL. Gotta PM him to change size again. Dang. It's freaking thick, 26AWG cable and the sleeve is nylon, you gonna destroy the sleeve by doing that. And note the cable is really stiff as hell, it's unlike those phone cable which is soft and rubberish. I wanna coil like this. |

QUOTE(dadudeneverabides @ Jun 27 2014, 10:33 AM) Hahaha. I misread. It's USD 140, so should sound about right. Hahaha. Can't justify the price until I've tried one myself. Anyone in Penang ada HHKB for me to try? That's why I suspect that it's not really Topre. So much LED. Dude... Topre is the endgame tactile switch. Trust me. Going from MX Browns to Topre is like... dunno how to explain. Currently forcing myself to use my Ergodox to train my muscle memory, otherwise I'd go back to the Topre. QUOTE(justnits @ Jun 27 2014, 10:58 AM) i have 28awg also which is thinner and softer. Stick to 26AWG bro. Check your PM also. yukihatsu, you want me to use 26awg or 28awg? ugh this world cup fever is taking a toll on my cable making...fall asleep after getting back from work QUOTE(quovadis123 @ Jun 27 2014, 01:07 PM) HHKB lite 2 is a membrane keyboard. LOL. Must try typing on one myself to tell if hhhnggggghhh or no hhhnnnghhhhh. Come, let me audition. So, your end game is no more mechanical but u back to membrane keyboard. Ok. Brown = no hnnnngghh Topre = Hhhhnnnnggggggghhhhhh |

QUOTE(dadudeneverabides @ Jun 27 2014, 02:30 PM) Can't help you two. Besides, Topre needs 2 weeks to go from "Errr...." to "Hnngggghh OMGWTFBBQ whyamisostupidtonothavetriedthisi'llneverneedanotherkeyboard" Haha, definitely need to audition first before buying considering that it's not that affordable. Can't buy purely based on review only.wildwestgoh If you can find Topre users in Kuching let me know. I'll be back in mid Aug for a 2 weeks so maybe can give it a try if you find any. |
