For swiftkey, there's a white theme which looks nice. The other themes are ugly.

For me, I like swiftkey because of its autocorrect/prediction and another small part is it's fullstop button. If you swipe right from fullstop button, will be a question mark. Don't need to hold on a key or swap to another keyboard for question mark like ios keyboard.

Errr......... Any shop in Selangor area got nexus 5 demo set ? Because I want to go and play the phone Hehe tongue.gif

Not quite sure.. What other phone do you have in mind?

The only downfall for this phone is the average battery life and soft speaker.

If you want to judge how smooth the phone is, then you don't need to. It is safe to say this phone is one of the smoothest phone around, including iphone.

No la, I already know how smooth and fast this phone is.( yesterday I keep watching nexus 5 reviews, gaming performance, drop test, comparison haha ) I just want to try the hands on feel, the camera, the screen and check for the price.

But wait, the battery life still not good enough? mudkipryan94 gor gor told me he got 1 day and 3 hours + 5.5 sot, isn't that good enough? ( maybe for me it's enough)

Soft speaker means low in volume? It's okay for me as I seldom watch videos. I read an article, it says that nexus 5 has soft vibrations too, is it true?
*
Oh ya, I forgot about camera too. The camera will be average and with some issues on autofocus. Ytd I tried taking a macro shot and out of 10 times, it only focus correctly once.

Battery life imo, the minimum that you can get should be around 3-3.5 hours sot. Average being 3.5 hour.By this I mean that, the very least the phone can last me is 3 hours sot. Since using the phone, I never got 5.5 sot, neither stock nor custom kernel will give me that battery life.

And yes, low in volume for speaker and as for the vibration. I'd say average.

Congratulations on v8! Even though I'm 3 pages late,hehe..

Battery usage always vary even if we have the same phone & setup. Don't know why.

As long as the phone lasts whole day, that's good enough for me, for now. The only other choice of phone I see worthy enough is G2 (coz G3 is too big IMO!).
*
If don't mind average camera and low megapixels, I think there is another great phone which is HTC M8. That imo, is also another smooth phone. Almost perfect, if the camera is something better.

Powerbank to save the day? blink.gif
*
Well, powerbank is the solution if you don't mind carrying another device around but for me , my nexus 5 manage to last me 1 day all the time and i never had any problem.

At least it's better than my friend's ip5 where they had to only turn on 3g when they need it , they can't leave it on 24/7 otherwise the battery wont last them a day. and the way they have to turn on 3g is quite troublesome, they had to go settings and turn it on. rclxub.gif

guys, my bro N5 get the OTA update. but his N5 is unlocked and rooted. but still use the stock rom. now after he finished download the update, his N5 stuck at TRWP recovery and ask what files to install. since he download it via official OTA update, he coudnt find the files and dont know what to do now.
please help
*
Hmm, firstly, if he root and unlock bootloader, did he delete any system files or used any custom kernel?

If yes, he won't be able to apply the ota update.

Anyway, It's not a big problem. Worst come to worst, he will only have to lose all his data.( due to performing a clean wipe)

This is the rom that I flashed on my nexus 5:

Bought one, played with it. Nice phone. Solid build but performance wise, Nexus still better. I notice slight stutters on apps and launcher.
After that gave my sister  laugh.gif

Yea, I had the same thought. Played with one. It is really great for the price that you are paying. But then again, nexus 5 is still better. Also noticed some slight stutter when going through the phone.

Im on 4.4.3 with elementalx kernel and for some reason I got the 4.4.4 ota notification this morning.

I thought I couldn't update it cause I'm using custom kernel but thought i'd try my luck and it successfully updated. Guess its because 4.4.4 is only 2.5mb. tongue.gif

Please, for those who plan to flash the L preview. Please please note that this is just a developer preview version. It is not a full version, so don't complain when things are not working properly. Instead, expect it to be full of bugs cause it is not the final version ( not saying that it is full of bugs, but its like a beta version and most probably will have bugs )

Please make sure you know what you are doing. If you are not sure, stay away from it. smile.gif

I believe the noobs will find a way to actually miss everything you said. so its useless to tell that.

That's why I think we should put a quote or something beneath all discussions relating to L preview.

"Do not try this at home"

or

"Do not attempt to flash if you have no idea what you are doing"

Nah upon my experiences in forums over these years. they will find a way to annoy you anyway. no point giving them warning. let them break their devices. and let anybody who cares to respond to them. that's why i never respond to questions nowadays. if i'm in the mood, best i can do is troll them.

btw am i the only one seeing this?

I saw that too...

Anyway, I'm at the xda thread looking for users reporting more on the features or bugs of the new L preview . But there's alot more ignorant people who doesn't even bother to read before they post and keep asking the same things over and over again.. rclxub.gif

that's why i said it. there'll be some in here too later on. but we have pure good souls to help no worries.

and some said its laggy, expected. but i am still flashing this after work.
*
There are also some who say it is flawless and very smooth. tongue.gif

The one who say its laggy didn't perform a full wipe. His theory was that flashing without wipe is the same as flashing an OTA. The cause of the lags is because of the new L preview, not because of going from 4.4 > L without clean wipe, which I think is wrong.

IMO, there is many changes from kitkat and you definitely cannot flash it without wiping. Same thing like custom rom. You have to perform a full wipe whenever you jump from one custom rom to another.

Do report back on your experience on the new L preview. I will probably flash it a few days after this. tongue.gif

actually for someone who use it about 10-15 minutes to say it flawless kinda exaggerating. how can you determine it is flawless within that time frame.

i'm trying without wipe. cuz who got time for full wipe. haha. i haven't wiped ever since i got my n5 for 4 months.
*
Just wipe it. Everything needs some deep cleaning from time to time. smile.gif

Anyway, noticed one small annoying bug.

At 3:10,When he press back button, the keyboard comes back up. shakehead.gif

I am definitely not a fan of the way they handle the recents app.

In fact, I hate it!

Recent/multitasking tab should be short and simple. Now I have to scroll more to get to what I want. shakehead.gif

It comes with 3.5.13 which is 0.0.1 older than yesterday's Google Search update, so just download from Play Store.

Could you try to reproduce the bug I mentioned earlier? Thanks.

Anyway, one quote from xda forum:

Fast and smooth? Yea it's ART and your setup has no user apps installed, duh.

No root, no ****? Developer Preview.

What is this for again? It's just KitKat with new APIs and SDKs, to PREVIEW MATERIAL DESIGN.

But well, humans…

Yes, even without using L personally, I do hate the recent tab. mad.gif
Not to mention it's actual purpose to have these scrollable tabs is cause google actually intended to display webpage tabs from google chrome as well. It will be even messier than it is right now vmad.gif

I personally use recent tab alot to go into my recently used apps and even the current one that we have in kitkat is just so-so.

I was hoping that they would make it simpler and more efficient for better and faster multitasking.

Guess it makes sense functionality wise, but the implementation could be better.

Android always had that confusing part of multitasking where you thought it was youtube app in recents tab but it is actually chrome which lead to youtube.
