Hi there,

I want to ask some opinions about this topic. Are the chances of landing a job higher? Or is it a time wasting event whereby companies get to recycle all the papers collected from job seekers?

I have seen quite a number of walk-in-interviews lately. From Midvalley Megamall Convention centre to the company location itself. And I am sure that there are 100's of application forms for a specific job position. I personally have attended a walk-in-interview session early this year. And I can say it is disasterous for me tongue.gif .

I have read a thread regarding a Job Fair which is held in Midvalley Megamall recently. Some said they (companies) are there to collect resumes with no question asked. Some said they (interviewees) just filled in a form and submit it with their resume together. So, what are the main differences between attending these and sending it through e-mail/snail mail? Say there are hundred applicants there, would interviewers remember who they have interviewed or how certain interviewees perform?

I personally thinks that it is the same way as me sending my resume via e-mail/snail mail because of they way they handled. What do you think? smile.gif

I tried submitting my resume in a career fair before and no, no reply from them at all. The only time I got a job with walk-in-interview is when I wanted to get a part time job at Hilton.

I don't think it'll work out that fine because of the amount of people submitting their resume. CHances of being filtered are much higher smile.gif

I submitted my resumes to companies during career fair and none of them are being fed back/responded.

For walk-in interview, one advice is that don't put high hope on that. You might not be able to get into the next stage. If you do impress them during walk-in interview, they may call you for a second round of interview at their office.

as 'walk-in interviews' comes to mind, i don't really like it because to certain extend, it is a waste of time! try to think about it, you have to queue up...have to put on faith on something which only delivers least chances of success....it is almost the same procedure as sending your resume to them to scan through online or post your resume to them...
i just hate walk-in interviews...

walk in interviews are for lower positions, office clark for example(they wont do walk in for managerial position)in which thousands of people might qualify for that post. thus thousands of resume and applicants throwing in,to fill in,say 10 vacant seats for that particular position.

hence they filtered the resume in rather basic proportion, such as education, ability to speak fluent english, able to work long hours, last but not least, your look(Means handsome/Pretty or not,yes they do have this "look" column ranging from 1 to 5 for the HR personal to tick)

for those who successfully stand out the crowd, they will gone through more advance interview questions.
those who failed, they either put them in file for future reference or just shredded it.

I have the same opinion as you except for "hate walk-in interviews". I don't mind but the fact that it is quite time wasting (from filling up the form, to waiting in the queue, then reach lunch time have to wait some more, after lunch time, resume in queue again. sigh..) , I tend to give excuses for not attend those fairs.

That's my point of asking. How could they ever remember (those essential stuff) who they have interviewed during the course of 6-8 friggin' hours (excluding lunch time). I know I myself couldn't remember well unless there's camcorder beside me recodering the interview process of each applicants.

they only note down the most important part la...they might ask you tons of questions like how you handle pressure?how you meet the deadline?how you improve yourself?where do you see yourself in 5 years time...bla bla bla...but infact they only put them in one point. in the 'how well the candidate answering questions' column, and rate them 1 to 5.they rate you in general for 1st interview than more specific in 2nd and 3rd if it happens any.they might ask the same questions too.
