Hi,

Can you please confirm that TIME Fibre Home Broadband is available at 1 Bukit Utama Block A2?

I know it says it is available when I use the Coverage Availability tool, but I heard sometime ago that the management of the condominium did not approve installing the fibre cabling in the riser.

Also, can you please clarify the difference between the 100Mps and Unlimited packages? Is the only difference that the 100Mbls package has a 100GB quota, and throttled to 10Mbps thereafter?

Thanks.

Western Digital My Passport Ultra 1TB External Hard Disk = approx. RM300

Preferred if you instead reduced the prices of your plans instead.

At the same time, I think you better have your management screen these promoters/installers/distributors they are appointing.

Clueless idiot who cold-called me today couldn't even explain to me the difference between fibre-based broadband and the ADSL-based ones like Unifi. Also couldn't tell me the cabling work that will have to be done inside my unit. I mean, I know the answer, but wanted to see whether the guy knew the product he was selling.

Rather than trying to convince me by giving me the advantages and benefits of his product, he spent the entire time making bad comments and disparaging remarks about the competitors. He was probably a car salesman, or at least trained in his sales method by one. I am not saying the Unifi people are any better, but as the underdog going up against the market leader, Time needs to do that extra bit more and entice people over, rather than stooping to their level.

But yes, back to the original point, I think everybody would prefer a straight reduction in the costs of plans rather than have offers of freebies like hard disks... or Tesco vouchers... Or KFC coupons. Just pass the savings back to us directly, and let us decide if we want to spend it at the local IT shop, hypermarket or fast food joint.

Once you are subscribed to a package, can you upgrade to another for free and without starting a new 2-year contract?

Can you swap between an Unlimited package and the 100mbps package?

I'm using Astro IPTV + 10mbps TimeFibre, can I upgrade to 20mbps at rm179 per month?

From what I have been told, merely changing your package means a fresh 2-year contract.

If you take TIME as your broadband provider as part of your Astro IPTV subscription, are you eligible for the 50mbps Boost for 30 hours every month?

Also, is the bandwidth taken up by the Astro service separate from your broadband allocation - i.e. if I opt for the 10mbps service, I will be getting 10mbps for my internet based use?

Hi Bro,

Very frequently asked questions indeed smile.gif

TIME Fibre Home Broadband that bundles together with Astro channels in Astro IPTV packages, max Boost is 40Mbps.
Max Boost is 40Mbps instead of 50Mpbs? but still 30 hours worth every month? Activation can be done nd usage monitored using TIME Self Care online?

QUOTE
Yes it's separated in different Vlan.
Based on our years of field testing, under normal conditions, most of the time you will be getting almost 90% of the speed you subscribed.

Different VLAN, but still on the same bandwidth allocation? So, for example, if I subscribe to the 10Mbps service, I'll only get a maximum of 9Mbps, and maybe less if the Astro traffic takes up more when watching HD channels?

Or do I get 10Mbps, regardless... with bandwidth for the Astro service allocated from somewhere else?

Yes, you can migrate to Astro IPTV package later, but not as add-on, instead as migration, which means you have to follow Astro package.

Thanks.

Dear bro

Yes u can go time fibre standalone plan or GPON , even go for one month free trial , later if u feel want to add on astro , u can migrate to astro IPTV with time fibre.

Kindly check your pm for further details

Thanks

Please explain to me how this works.

Say I decide to take the 10Mbps package for RM129 and pay TIME. Then 6 months later want to migrate to Astro IPTV, is my broadband package still RM129, or do I pay the Astro IPTV price of RM148?

Do I get a new contract period of 2 years with Astro, stop paying TIME and start paying them instead? If so, what happens to my 2 year contract with TIME?

Do I get new equipment and setup, or do you just plug the Astro Byond PVR box into the ONU/ONT with no real service disruption?

If there is a promotion/offer that is better than the one I can get if I apply from an Astro outlet or Astro booth, do let me know as well.

More accurately, they have gotten tired of using the brainless 'Stay tuned for good news, bro!' response wink.gif

In any case, at this point, probably the only way they can reduce their prices further without cutting into their significant profits is to eliminate more technical maintenance and support staff. I think we've all noticed in the past dozen pages in this thread that they are already making their own subscribers do their technical investigation and troubleshooting for them

If they cut any more staff, they may start asking people to hand deliver the traceroutes, latency reports and other technical data to their location in Shah Alam and then explain step-by-step to their staff there how to resolve the issues. laugh.gif

Happy it's working well for you.

Please let us know if it continues to maintain a high standard of service quality and performance in the month ahead.

Just waiting to see if it goes kaput when everybody on 100Mbps and over start simultaneously binging on Daredevil Season 2 on Netflix, etc. wink.gif

Neighbour just made me aware of another group of unhappy people, besides the people that cannot get Time Fibre Broadband where they live.

Astro IPTV subscribers who use Time as their broadband provider do not get an upgrade to their broadband.

Tmnut 100mbps plan for RM329.. doh.gif
Might as well get 500mbps from Time.

The thing is that the majority of people don't have the option of subscribing to Time... and TM and Maxis know that. Even if the sum total of everybody who can swap over to Time do so, TM loses a maximum of 5-6% of their Unifi subscriptions.

I thought I'd share this since it's not obvious to a lot of people. In fact, even I didn't realise it until a friend made me aware of this last week after he inquired about downgrading his package.

QUOTE
'You may upgrade or downgrade your plan at anytime, however, a downgrade is subject to a penalty equivalent to one month’s subscription fee of your existing plan. A plan downgrade will also result in the automatic renewal of your contract term for a period of 24 months upon the expiry of your existing contract term.

Note the bolded and underlined part.

He signed on to the RM179 package six months ago, and wanted to downgrade to the RM149 package because the new upgraded speed of 100Mbps for the lower plan was more than enough for his needs.

He expected to have his contract renewed/reset to 24 months, but was shocked when he was told that it was 24 months on top of the 18 months he still had left on his current contract, making it 42 months blink.gif. I don't think even Unifi does this for service downgrades.

So, there you go, when picking a Time Fibre Broadband package, be sure of the speed you want and can commit to paying for it for the duration of your contract, because a downgrade can and will be very painful.

Needless to say, my friend was ranting.gif and will not hesitate to look for alternatives when the time comes.
