Think abt it - 20/30 years ago.. riding a bike is dangerous n when u upgrade to a car its already much much safer.. then there was no such ting as VSC/6 airbag n such..
Pt. 2 is tat then cars need to be reliable n trustworthy n toyota has been really reliable [N it still is n this is nothing to look down on cos its a built-up reputation taking years if not decades n generations ]
Fast Forward to now n this personalities still think like that - safety is already very good as compared to a motorbike..
N toyota still make reliable/trustworthy cars..

On the Altis - yes it is expensive and UMW is paying for it in less sales - as compared to other more safety-orientated models.. - I guess the 'marketing dept' still think safety is a premium n to charge for it.. its not only Toyota but P2 [other than the Bezza n even then only top of the line.. ] seems to market it that way..
I guess there are 2 ways for em to change their thinking :
1. On their own - doubtful as profits still reign supreme - whatever you wanna say ; if it affects too much at the bottom line ; it will never come to pass
2. Legislation - our government must step in n say it is so - make them put this in - even to the extent as to give them certain tax incentives ..

I guess .. as long as the profits are in, they might consider status quo - for example .. in Penang, still got a lot of new Altises [ apparently less in other states.. ]
Proton is dying - it has to do more to increase sales - if it means earning less by adding 6 airbags to generate more sales then its already a wise move..
I still say - they must be forced to do it - but then again , l guess they will increase the price of the bread and butter models [ unless our government provides incentives .. ]

No offence to fans here but 127k is too close to all the other C-segment finalists which might not be conti-based but should have better [perception .. at least] role of a prestigious name - not to mention better resale value [ ya ya .. l know its a bad term and should not be added to anything to do with cars but lets face it, we are not rolling in dough and who doesn't want someting in return for what we are going to toss , rite?? ]
Itll be interesting how TC plans to go along if assuming this doesnt sell well - give 40k %..

Not 40% but up to 40k tat means circa ard more or less current pricing of 87k..
Probably everybody will choose either the Mazda 3 or Civic 1.8 for 110k la..
I guess Tan Chong wanna test market kut .. l mean opening at tat price..
