I can skip the 7.1.2 and upgraded from 7.1.1 to 8 via itune. Mine is on iPhone 5 and it's running smooth.

For most the case, when itune is launched and iDevice has been plugged in to your computer, the itune will automatically detect you iDevice current version and check if there is any new updated. You will be prompt with "Download and Install" or "Download Only". I always select "Download only" because I have to perform backup for my iDevice. After the new version has been downloaded completely, then only I click the "Update" button.

The biggest update is not on the GUI, which has been done on ios7, but it is on the openness to third parties, the closer/tighter interaction between idevice (the handoff, continuity features).

Me is on iphone 5 and it runs smooth on ios 8. Suggestion to re-check the settings for those who said it's lag or battery drain.

QUOTE(mudkipryan94 @ Sep 19 2014, 11:24 AM) Try this:Problem #4: iMessage And Facetime won’t activate Your iMessage & FaceTime won't work after you updated to iOS 8. It just says “waiting to activate.” The Fix: Turn both iMessage and Facetime off in the Settings Menu. Then in Settings go to General, scroll down to Reset then select “Reset Your Network Settings.” Once everything has reset, make sure you are connected to Wi-fi. Reactivate iMessage and Facetime. You should now be able to select your phone number as an iMessage sending option. |
