Frankly speaking, k800 doesn't look elegant to me. Really bulky and squary if compare to other SE models. K750 on the other hand looks a lot more elegant and fine in term of design.

The 3.2 MP cam doesn't really matter to me, I would rather get a K610 and a REAL sony cybershot separately

No offence, just my opinion. It's just too big for me. I'm not someone who likes ultra-small phone but also I dislike bulky model like this

You are not the only one who are b****ing about K800's design, me too LOL. The keypad looks out of place and the protruding camera cover. K750i indeed has a refined design and looks well balance.

Wanna see k750i in slider form ? XD

It's NTT FOMA D902iS by Mitsubishi. It has freaking 2.8 inches TFT 262k screen lol

Yeah...forgot to mention the unbalanced "screen:keypad" ratio. Design wise K800 reminds me of Nokia 3230 sweat.gif

I was tempted to get K800 at first when I looked at the spec. But after looking at the real unit itself I lost my interest on it.

P/S: I wish I live in Japan laugh.gif

Okay guys...um..need some of ur profesional advices....i thought of creating a new thread so it wud be easier for ppl to comment, but i dont think it wud be a good idea...

I am kinda in a dilemma now....i would like to get a new HP (doh!)....but i am undecided which to choose...

Its definitely between SE K800 or Nokia N80.

I kinda understand from both threads of the pohnes i read theu (took me a damn long time to read everythin) and also comparisons n reviews from gsmarena.

Basically for K800, it has better picture taking qualities.....n um...dats basically d PRO over N80...i am not too sure about MP3 playin comparisons for both phones though...

N80, i know dats its more like a "business" type of phone...its main advantages is the internet browser and WLAN. So, its a smart phone, close to a PDA, and in a way cud be a replacement for a laptop for mobile connectivity (wud like to get a laptop, but not in budget ATM)

So i am basically torn in between these 2 phones....i wana know, how bout Games functions? Ok, i wud list down my preferences and mebe some of u ppl who knows more than me cud give me a better idea of wut to get...

1. I wud like to hav mobile connectivity where i can surf the net, wud be nice to be able to use WIFI at hotspots....(guess N80 wins here?)

2. Between N80 n K800, which would be closest to a PDA/Laptop in terms of functions? ( i gues N80 wins here too...)

3. For entertainment? Games? MP3...which one has a better Video Playback?

4. Which is easier to use? n has a better OS? as in wont lag much or etc? More user friendly? Durabality?

5. Expansion wise, which wud be better? MIni SD? M2?

6. Camera wise? Hm i am aware dat K800 wins hands down...but N80 also aint dat bad rite? Video Capture? i kno dat K800 video capture is lousy...how bout N80?

7.

hm..ran outof ideas..but dats basically wut my preferences are...so i hope some of u guys cud give me some feedback....thanx in advance!

ps : hope i cud get some unbiased opinions here  tongue.gif ...thanx... notworthy.gif

Was once deciding between N80 and K800 too, but I guess I'm going to get N80 (only when the price drops), if not other phones.

Let me try to answer your questions first. I am neither a K800 nor N80 user, never use them before also but solely based on my research and common sense. Please also feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

1. Yea, N80 is the winner. Unless you don't mind to pay for the cost of expensive 3G usage charge. But point to ponder - wifi drains battery very fast... so whether it is practical or not is another matter altogeher.

2. N80 i guess, K800 is not even qualified as a smart phone. PDA replacement? maybe...Laptop replacement? nope... You'll get totally different experience when surfing web/viewing documents/playing video etc. using laptop. The screen of N80/K800, though is big, still has limitation.

3. No idea about sound quality. Have read some review elsewhere. Some said cannot see real difference between the two, some said K800 is slightly better. For games, you can find only java games in K800 while you can fine symbian games also in N80.

4. Definitely K800. Never use a symbian phone before, but so far never seen a single SE user complaining about "oh my phone is so slow!!!!!" (which is very common when i scan through S60 phone threads). I have to make sure that I can accept the speed of symbian phones before spending my cash.

5. To me they are the same, just a format anyway. But definitely MiniSD is more common hence I think will be cheaper.

6. K800 wins...has better camera, Autofocus, Xenon-flash and Sony's know-how bla bla bla (though I can see a lot of people are expecting too much from SE...come on guys don't forget it's mainly a phone, not camera). If you're not someone who's very particular on camera quality, N80's one is definitely acceptable. And when it comes to video capture, N80 will be the obvious winner.

7. Extra poins here...K800 doesn't look appealing in term of design for me. I prefer the design of N80, but I'm still considering between N80 and N73 and maybe other options, guess K800 already out of list now. But no offence guys, it's just the matter of preference.

8. In term of price...K800 is a lot more friendly (rather understandable because of its relatively simpler functions)

oh...too bad.. i like w810i menu style a lot..
*
It's just different themes and icons, but other things are quite similar right? (like the menu items, the placements etc)

I think all the modern SE phones (since T610) are quite standard in term of UI except it's a symbian UIQ (M/P series)

Hello K800 owners. It's probably a bit hard for me to check through 94 pages and look for this little information, so I hope somebody can help me to answer this question.

In K750, it is quite slow to browse my gallery (as in moving left and right, opening it and etc, rendering it really takes a long time) Is it getting faster in K800? And what about a folder with, let's say 100 of 3.2 Mega pixels images?

Thanks in advance

awww....that's saddening sad.gif

That means viewing a folder with load of image files will still be a troublesome process?

The speed in terms of viewing pictures are as follows (I've only got 3 sets to compare with):

K750i --> W900i --> K800i
Slow -----------------> Fast

Having said that, the W900i and K800i's picture browsing speed is quite close to each other.
*
Thanks for your information, at least it's better than K750. And hopefully new firmware can further improve this a little bit smile.gif

hi...finally i'm an official k800i owner. bought the k800 yesterday from sony style at klcc for RM1999 plus 1GB M2 for RM289. i took the 0% interest installment plan for 24 months.
*
Wow slightly expensive here

And instalment plan...it's pain sometimes to see your phone getting outdated but you're still paying for it every month tongue.gif

believe me, you won't regret getting an original set. too many risks follow with getting an AP set. and benefits of an original set are aplenty too. wink.gif
*
I disagree.

As long as the AP distributor is has good reputation, and the price difference is too big, I don't see any reason not getting AP set.

Let's see, some people might use their phone for one year or less, and if the price difference is like RM400, getting AP set might be a better deal. If the phone is under good care I don't think the risk is that big

After the warranty period, there is probably no big difference between AP and ori set already (except the firmware update thingy)

Just my 2 cents

guys...got sum AP set cant update firmware ??

if cant update firmware mai like da phone adi paralyse lor??

cos da firmware will fix sum bug on da phone rite??

sry..newb here....thx 4 reading

I think can't update firmware means the SEUS will detect it as "no update available" It won't go paralyse (I'm still using the old firmware of my K750 and it looks fine despite some minor bugs).

Unless the bugs are very serious, flashing new firmware to me is something NICE TO HAVE but not MUST HAVE

You can however give it to flashers like jun by paying them some fees (usually less than RM50 i guess)
