the professor has his own real dupe whereas , danton make his duplicate through electricity ( like photostat machine ) at the end , the dupe and great danton died dupe got hanged accused of killing the danton ( duplicate ) the professor revenge his dupe by killing the real danton |

The whole tesla invention is really a turn off.
Prefer something more simple like the illusionist. |

One of my all time favourite movies.didnt expect that kind of ending in the end because both of them are bad and good in the same time.
I prefer the professor because he devoted his life toward his career |

QUOTE(HarDiE @ Jun 1 2014, 12:30 AM) Prestige is more appealing because it wasn't "idealistic".It represents how shit magicians in reality are. Illusionist is just all the dressing with no substance, which ironically doesn't represent real magicians at all. |

well... using science fiction for movie like this is too vague... u can stretch anything without explanation.
just like movie now u see mee but mindfucuk movies with simple unexpected theme is hard to come by like the illusionist or the usual suspect. but i like the character build up in the prestige. but i choose the prof... bcoz he's a batman. This post has been edited by HarDiE: Jun 1 2014, 12:57 AM |

In the middle of the movie, Michael Caine's character already suggested to Great Danton that Borden's transported man trick involves a double, simple as that. Only Great Danton refuses to accept that it is that simple and let Borden leads him to a wild search in America.

QUOTE(Lancelot du Lac @ May 31 2014, 04:32 PM) this google quantum physics.its doesnt even make any sense how can such device make a human duplicate i also prefer the illusionist if it comes to magic/illusion movie look for einstein-rosen-podolsky (EPR) effect. for layman, this whole thing may look like hocus pocus crap. but if u look deeper, the film dwells on the hostility between two great scientists of electricity: tesla vs edison (u can also look this one up. pretty cool rivalry, in which tesla lost). during the rivalry, both seek to out do each other. eventually, due in most part to edison's financial prowess, electricity we know today was grounded in what edison "believed" is true. the film simply explores on what if tesla was correct? that all we believe about electricity and science in general is not exactly accurate? so in the film, angier practices old school magic tricks, while danton pushed the boundaries of science that it becomes magical. |

Are you also using the same machine to create your dupes dupe? did you kill off all your previous dupes or someone did it for you?

QUOTE(Lancelot du Lac @ Jun 1 2014, 12:32 AM) this The whole movie is about rivalry leading to deadly consequence. The electricity duplicate is the science fiction part. You have to realize Danton sacrifice even his life in order to outdo his rival. Remember what he said, he did not even know if the "real" him was going to die everytime he used Tesla machine to make a duplicate. Remember the machine was going to make a clone. There was two way this could work:its doesnt even make any sense how can such device make a human duplicate i also prefer the illusionist if it comes to magic/illusion movie 1. The machine teleported the original to a new destination, and left behind a clone. 2. The machine did not teleport the original to a new destination, but created a new clone in the new destination. Since the magic trick would kill the person who was standing in the original spot, there was a 50% chance that everytime Danton used this trick, the "original" him would fell into the water tank and drown. And the clone, having the same memory of the original, would not know whether he was a new copy or the original Danton. But both the clone (or the original) would realize that he might have to kill himself in the next trick and agonized over it, and he could not stop himself because he wanted to outdo his rival. The other rivalry portraited in the movie is the rivalry between the inventors Edison and Tesla, and that actually happened in real life. The moral of the story is to teach you all not to be obsessed over winning so much. |
