Turn off all the lights in dark room take a picture again. I cannot tell if that is blacklight bleed or IPS glow. IPS does have some glowing issue. But if that is backlight bleed it is unacceptable.

hmm.gif Now I tried complete darkness, problem is my phone's crappy cam just can't deal with the task, though it still pickup the blue glow at the lower left corner.
But these color glow are still visible, just not as bad as previously - not sure if the monitor need some times to "warm up" or just some of the calibration I did fixed it a bit.

These "glows" aren't static though, if look from the left, the screen is on warm tone, and if I look from the right, it is on the cold tone...
On normal use of course I sit at the middle... and half of the screen is slightly cold and the other half slightly warm... the heck is wrong? doh.gif
Seriously first time using IPS panel, I do not expect such kind of visual problem...

Of course I don't really need a complete black screen to even see those glows, just view a website with dark background, or playing my favourite games like Path of Exile...

Haha. That is the IPS glow. Some IPS panel has minimal and some has more. I know it is annoying when you are displaying black. There's pretty much nothing you can do about it. In my humble opinion you should get DELL IPS instead of HP. At least the glow on DELL is not as bad.

Really? doh.gif Still, next week I gonna go to the shop and check out their other units see if the problem is as heavy as mine.
Well, my LCD broken yesterday morning and I'm in a rush to get a new one... Went to shop looking for Dell but none... So yea...

Looks like I got a really bad monitor... REALLY BAD monitor, I dunno if it is just unlucky defects or just products from HP are generally bad?
When I went through bunch of my works (I do some graphic stuff), I noticed this monitor have serious problem trying to get GREY correctly.
It always have yellow tint no matter how I calibrate it... Worst, when showing a calibration greyscale gradient image, it is VERY easy to notice some weird toning around, that my crappy phone camera also can pick it up > http://i.imgur.com/i3lyNKi.jpg
You might be able to see there are several "waves" of cold vertical areas sandwiched between those yellow tint areas... OMG what have I bought... a junk? shocking.gif

What you guys take on using TV screen as monitor? hmm.gif
Have a budget around 1.2k-1.3k want to get a good screen, good and accurate color since I do some graphic work - as long as general color is correct, don't have some weird blue/yellow tint that can't remove, then it will be fine.
Went to friend house saw him using 48" 1080p (pic model below) seems pretty damn sharp, no blurry interface or text at all which quite impress me. Altough generally low PPI but doesn't seems to have pixelated issue at view distance ~5 feet. Although I haven't test it extensively in term of color accuracy, input lag, etc.

Planning to get that 40" if possible but I want to hear anyone if have any idea / advice over this matter. I do play games so yea a big screen would be nice.
At that budget can only get a 27" pc monitor which isn't exactly a big step from 23"... 1080p resolution isn't really an issue, I will be using AMD VSR anyway.

Hi bro.
I just purchase the monitor same as your ( few days ago) and I quite happy with the performance. My opinion is maybe you received a defect product. You may try to ask a replacement from the HP itself (or maybe you already arrange the replacement since your post is one month ago tongue.gif )

They refused a replacement though and claim it works perfectly fine, that's the problem. wink.gif
Glow isn't really the biggest problem I have with my unit, I can tolerate that - but instead, it's the warm tone with grey color that gets my nerve cracking...

Curiosity, if you have time, can you check out this picture: http://i.imgur.com/l3pkMjx.jpg
It's a greyscale pic, no color. Do you see true accurate grey or kinda yellowish? hmm.gif

Really? are you request a replacement with your previous purchase shop or directly to HP?
anyway, I (and my bro) saw the true greyscale picture. no yellowish.  smile.gif

hmm.gif Thanks, must be my unit problem then.
I go through the shop I bought the unit though, end up quite a disaster really.
Is OK currently just waiting to sell it out cheap, if sit in the box too long then will see if I got the mood to call HP myself...

for colour accuracy, pick monitors to TV
generally TV presets are usually high contrast, high saturation and dynamic bla bla which isnt accurate at all
for entertainment, yes. TV reign supreme
for text reading, youll thank the stars you have monitors. trust me, ive tried TV as browsing material.. itll kill your eyes

hmm.gif Ok got my TV today, Samsung UA40H5008.
At first it doesn't looks as good, color and sharpness kinda off, well I think it's ok... after all it's a damn TV...
But then i found a sort of secret settings, which we probably won't understood from it's name. It called "Edit Name"
Put it to "PC" and... WOW IT COMPLETELY BLOW MY MIND AWAY! shocking.gif shocking.gif shocking.gif It is almost as good as a standard monitor... somewhere 90%...
